4
But let the hid man whiche is in the heart, be without all corruption, so
that the spirite be at rest and quiet, whiche [spirite] is before god a thing

4 But let it bee the hidden man

10 For he that wole loue lijf,

10 For whoso listeth to love

10 If eny ma longe after life

10 For who so listeth to lyue,
and wolde fayne se good dayes, Let him refrayne his tonge from euell, and his

10 For if any man long after

12 For the iyen of the Lord ben

is on men that don yuels. |
12 For the eyes of the lord are
over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers: but the face of
the lord beholdeth them that do evil. |
12 For ye eyes of ye Lorde are
over ye righteous and his eares are open vnto their prayers. But ye face of
the Lorde beholdeth the that do evyll. |
12 For ye eyes of the LORDE are
ouer the righteous, & his eares are open vnto their prayers. But ye face

12 For the eyes of the Lord are
ouer the righteous, and his eares are open vnto their prayers: and the face

12
For the eyes of the Lorde are ouer the ryghteous, and his eares are open vnto

Moreouer, who is it that wyll harme you, yf ye folowe that which is

3:17 |
17 For it is betere that ye do

17 ¶ It is better (if the will

17 It is better (yf the wyll of

18 For also Crist onys diede for
oure synnes, he iust for vniust, that he schulde offre to God vs, maad deed
in fleisch, but maad quik in spirit. |
18 For as much as Christ hath
once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, for to bring us to God, and
was killed, as pertaining to the flesh: but was quickened in the spirit. |
18 For as moche as Christ hath

18 For as moch as Christ hath

18 For Christ also hath once

and was put to death concerning the flesh, but was quickened by the spirit. |
18
Forasmuch as Christe hath once suffered for sinnes, the iust for the vniust

18 For Christ also hath once

3:21 |
21 And so baptym of lijk forme
makith vs saaf; not the puttyng awei of the filthis of fleisch, but the axyng
of a good conscience in God, bi the ayenrysyng of oure Lord Jhesu Crist, that
is in the riyt half of God, |
21 which signifieth baptism that
now saveth us, not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but in that a
good conscience consenteth to God, by the resurrection of Iesus Christ, |
21 which signifieth baptim that
now saveth vs not ye puttinge awaye of ye filth of the flesshe but in that a
good conscience consenteth to God by ye resurreccio of Iesus Christ |
21 Which signifieth baptyme yt
now saueth vs: not ye puttinge awaye of the fylth of the flesh, but in yt a
good cosciece cosenteth vnto God by ye resurreccion of Iesus Christ, |
21 Whereof the baptisme that
nowe is, answering that figure, (which is not a putting away of the filth of
the flesh, but a confident demaunding which a good conscience maketh to God)
saueth vs also by the resurrection of Iesus Christ, |
21
To the which also the figure agreeth that nowe saueth vs, euen baptisme, not
the puttyng away of the fylth of the fleshe, but in that a good conscience
maketh request to God, by the resurrection of Iesus Christe: |
21 The like figure whereunto,
euen Baptisme, doth also now saue vs, (not the putting away of the filth of
the flesh, but the answere of a good conscience toward God,) by the
resurrection of Iesus Christ. |

4:1 |
1 Therfor for Crist suffride in
fleisch, be ye also armed bi the same thenkynge; for he that suffride in
fleisch ceesside fro synnes, |
1 ¶ For as much as Christ hath
suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind: for
he which suffereth in the flesh ceaseth from sin, |
1 For as moche as christ hath
suffred for vs in the flesshe arme youre selves lyke wyse with the same
mynde: for he which suffereth in the flesshe ceasith fro synne |
1 For as moch then as Christ
hath suffred for vs in ye flesh, arme youre selues likewyse with the same
mynde. For he which suffreth in the flesh, ceasseth fro synne, |
1 Forasmuch then as Christ hath
suffered for vs in the flesh, arme your selues likewise with the same minde,
which is, that he which hath suffered in the flesh, hath ceased from sinne, |
1
For as muche then as Christ hath suffered for vs in the fleshe, arme ye your
selues lykewise with the same mynde: for he which suffereth in the fleshe,
ceasseth from sinne: |
1 For asmuch then as Christ hath
suffered for vs in the flesh, arme your selues likewise with the same minde:
for hee that hath suffered in the flesh, hath ceassed from sinne: |
4:2 |
2 that that is left now in

2 that he henceforward should
live as much time as remaineth in the flesh, not after the lusts of men: but
after the will of God. |
2 that he hence forwarde shuld
lyve as moche tyme as remayneth in the flesshe: not after ye lustes of men
but after the will of God. |
2 yt hece forth (as moch tyme as
yet remayneth in ye flesh) he shulde not lyue after the lustes of me, but
after the wil of God. |
2 That he hence forward should
liue (as much time as remaineth in the flesh) not after the lusts of men, but
after the will of God. |
2
That he hence forwarde shoulde lyue, as much tyme as remayneth in ye fleshe,
not after the lustes of men, but after the wyll of God. |
2 That he no longer should liue
the rest of his time in the flesh, to the lusts of men, but to the will of
God. |
4:3 |
3 For the time that is passid is
ynow to the wille of hethene men to be endid, whiche walkiden in letcheries,
and lustis, in myche drinking of wyn, in vnmesurable etyngis, and drynkyngis,
and vnleueful worschiping of mawmetis. |
3 For it is sufficient for us
that we have spent the time that is past of the life, after the will of the
gentiles, walking in wantonness lusts, drunkenness, in eating, drinking, and
in abominable idolatry. |
3 For it is sufficient for vs
that we have spent the tyme that is past of the lyfe after the will of the
gentyls walkinge in wantannes lustes dronkennes in eatinge drinkinge and in
abominable ydolatrie. |
3 For it is ynough, yt we haue
spent ye tyme past of the life, after the will of ye Heythen, wha we walked
in wantannesse, lustes, dronkenes, glotony, ryotous drynkynge, & i
abhominable Idolatrye. |
3 For it is sufficient for vs
that we haue spet the time past of ye life, after the lust of the Gentiles,
walking in wantonnes, lustes, drunkennes, in gluttonie, drinkings, and in
abominable idolatries. |
3
For it is sufficient for vs that we haue spent the tyme that is paste of the
lyfe, after the wyll of the gentiles, walkyng in wantonnesse, lustes, in
excesse of wynes, in excesse of eatyng, in excesse of drynkyng, and
abominable idolatrie. |
3 For the time past of our life
may suffice vs to haue wrought the will of the Gentiles, when we walked in
lasciuiousnes, lusts, excesse of wine, reuellings, banquetings, and
abhominable idolatries. |
4:4 |
4 In whiche now thei ben

same confusioun of letcherie, and blasfemen. |
4 ¶ And it seemeth to them a
strange thing that ye run not also with them unto the same excess of riot,
and therefore speak they evil of you, |
4 And it semeth to them a
straunge thinge that ye runne not also with them vnto the same excesse of
ryote and therfore speake they evill of you |
4 And it semeth to the a

& speake euell of you. |
4 Wherein it seemeth to them
strange, that yee runne not with them vnto the same excesse of riot:
therefore speake they euill of you, |
4
And it seemeth to them an inconuenient thyng, that ye runne not also with

4 Wherein they thinke it
strange, that you runne not with them to the same excesse of riot, speaking

5
Whiche shall geue accomptes to hym that is redy to iudge quicke and

5 Who shal giue accompt to him
that is ready to iudge the quicke & the dead. |
4:6 |
6 For whi for this thing it is
prechid also to deed men, that thei be demed bi men in fleisch, and that thei
lyue bi God in spirit. |
6 For unto this purpose verily
was the gospel preached unto the dead, that they should be judged after the
manner of men in the flesh, but should live godly in the spirit. |
6 For vnto this purpose verely
was ye gospell preached vnto the (deed) that they shuld be condempned of men
in ye flesshe but shuld live before God in the sprete. |
6 For vnto this purpose also was
ye Gospell preached vnto the deed, yt they shulde be iudged like other me i
ye flesh, but shulde lyue vnto God in ye sprete. |
6 For vnto this purpose was the
Gospell preached also vnto the dead, that they might bee condemned, according
