4 Knowing, beloued brethren,
that ye are elect of God. |
4 Knowyng,
brethren beloued, your election of God. |
4 Knowing, brethren beloued,
your election of God. {beloved…: or, beloved of God, your election} |
1:5 |
5 for oure gospel was not at you
in word oneli, but also in vertu, and in the Hooli Goost, and in myche
plente; as ye witen, whiche we weren among you for you; |
5 For our gospell came not unto
you in word only, but also in power, and also in the holy ghost and in much
certainty, as ye know that we behaved ourselves among you, for your sakes. |
5 For oure gospell came not vnto
you in worde only but also in
power and also in the holy gost and in
moche certayntie as ye knowe after what
maner we behaued oure selves amonge you
for youre sakes. |
5 for oure Gospell hath not bene
with you in worde onely, but both in power and in the holy goost, and in moch
certayntie, as ye knowe after what maner we were amonge you for youre sakes. |
5 For our Gospell was not vnto
you in worde only, but also in power, and in the holy Ghost, and in much
assurance, as ye know after what maner we were among you for your sakes. |
5
For our Gospell came not vnto you in worde only, but also in power, and in
the holy ghost, and in much certayntie, as ye knowe after what maner we were
among you for your sake. |
5 For our Gospel came not vnto
you in word onely: but also in power, and in the holy Ghost, and in much
assurance, as yee know what maner of men we were among you for your sake. |
1:6 |
6 and ye ben maad foleweris of
vs, and of the Lord, resseyuynge the word in myche tribulacioun, with ioye of
the Hooli Goost; |
6 ¶ And ye counterfeited us, and
of the lord: and received the word in much affliction, with joy of the holy
ghost: |
6 And ye became folowers of vs
and of the lord and receaved the worde
in moche affliccion with ioye of the
holy gost: |
6 And ye became the folowers of
vs and of the LORDE: and receaued the worde in moch affliccion with ioye of
the holy goost: |
6 And ye became followers of vs,
and of the Lord, and receiued the worde in much affliction, with ioy of the
holy Ghost, |
6
And ye became folowers of vs, and of the Lorde, receauyng the worde in much
affliction, with ioy of the holy ghost: |
6 And yee became followers of
vs, and of the Lord, hauing receiued the word in much affliction, with ioy of
the holy Ghost: |
1:7 |
7 so that ye ben maad ensaumple
to alle men that bileuen, in Macedonye and in Acaie. |
7 so that ye were an example to
all that believe in Macedonia, and Achaia. |
7 so that ye were an ensample to
all that beleve in Macedonia and Achaia. |
7 so that ye were an example to
all that beleued in Macedonia and Achaia. |
7 So that ye were as ensamples
to all that beleeue in Macedonia and in Achaia. |
7
So that ye were an ensample to all that beleue in Macedonia and Achaia. |
7 So that ye were ensamples to
all that beleeue in Macedonia and Achaia. |
1:8 |
8 For of you the word of the
Lord is pupplischid, not oneli in Macedonye and Acaie, but youre feith that
is to God, in ech place is gon forth; so that it is not nede to vs to speke
ony thing. |
8 For from you sounded out the
word of the lord, not in Macedonia and in Achaia only: but your faith also
which ye have unto God, spread herself abroad in all quarters, so greatly
that it needeth not us to speak anything at all: |
8 For from you sounded out the
worde of the lorde not in Macedonia
and in Achaia only: but youre fayth also which ye have vnto god spred her silfe abroade in all quartars so greatly that it nedeth not vs to speake
eny thynge at all. |
8 For fro you was the worde of
the LORDE noysed out, not onely in Macedonia & Achaia, but i all quarters
also is yor faith i God spred abrode so that it nedeth not vs to speake eny
thinge at all. |
8 For from you sounded out the
worde of the Lord, not in Macedonia and in Achaia only: but your faith also
which is toward God, spred abroad in all quarters, that we neede not to
speake any thing. |
8
For from you, sounded out the worde of the Lorde, not only in Macedonia &
Achaia: but also in euery place your faith to Godwarde is spread abroade, so
that we neede not to speake any thyng. |
8 For from you sounded out the
Word of the Lord, not onely in Macedonia & Achaia, but also in euery
place your faith to Godward is spred abroad, so that we need not to speak any
thing. |
1:9 |
9 For thei schewen of you, what
maner entre we hadden to you, and hou ye ben conuertid to God fro maumettis,
to serue to the lyuynge God and veri; and to abide his sone fro heuenes, |
9 for they themselves shew of
you what manner of entering in we had unto you, and how ye turned to God from
images for to serve the living and true God, |
9
For they the selves shewe of you what maner of entrynge in we had vnto you
and how ye tourned to God from ymages
for to serve the livynge and true god |
9 For they them selues shewe of
you, what maner of entrynge in we had vnto you, and how ye are turned vnto
God from ymages, for to serue the lyuynge and true God, |
9 For they themselues shew of vs
what maner of entring in we had vnto you, and how ye turned to God from
idoles, to serue the liuing and true God, |
9
For they them selues shewe of you, what maner of entryng in we had vnto you,
and howe ye turned to God from images, to serue the lyuyng and true God. |
9 For they themselues shew of
vs, what maner of entring in we had vnto you, and how yee turned to God from
idols, to serue the liuing, and true God, |
1:1 |
10 whom he reiside fro deth, the
Lord Jhesu, that delyuerede us fro wraththe to comynge. |
10 and for to look for his son
from heaven, whom he raised from death: i mean Iesus which delivereth us from
wrath to come. |
10
and for to loke for his sonne from heven
whom he raysed from deeth: I mean Iesus which delivereth vs from wrath
to come. |
10 and to loke for his sonne
from heaue: whom he raysed vp from the deed, euen Iesus, which hath delyuered
vs fro the wrath to come. |
10 And to looke for his sonne
from heauen, whome he raised from the dead, euen Iesus which deliuereth vs
from that wrath to come. |
10
And to tary for his sonne from heauen, whom he raysed from the dead: [euen]
Iesus which delyuereth vs from the wrath to come. |
10 And to waite for his sonne
from heauen whom he raised from the dead, euen Iesus which deliuered vs from
the wrath to come. |
2:1 |
1 For, britheren, ye witen oure
entre to you, for it was not veyn; |
1 ¶ For ye yourselves brethren
know of our entrance in unto you, how that it was not in vain: |
1 For ye youre selves knowe
brethren of oure entraunce in vnto you
howe that it was not in vayne: |
1 For ye youre selues (brethren)
knowe of oure intrauce vnto you, how that it was not in vayne, |
1 For ye your selues knowe,
brethren, that our entrance in vnto you was not in vaine, |
1
For ye your selues, brethren, knowe our entraunce in vnto you, yt it was not
in vayne: |
1 For your selues, brethren,
knowe our entrance in vnto you, that it was not in vaine. |
2:2 |
2 but first we suffriden, and
weren punyschid with wrongis, as ye witen in Filippis, and hadden trust in
oure Lord, to speke to you the gospel of God in myche bisynesse. |
2 but even after that we had
suffered before and were shamefully entreated at Philippos (as ye well know)
then were we bold in our God to speak unto you the gospell of God, with much
striving. |
2 but even after that we had
suffered before and were shamfully entreated at Phillippos (as ye well knowe)
then were we bolde in oure God to speake
vnto you the gospell of God with
moche strivynge. |
2 but as we had suffred afore,
& were shamefully intreated at Philippos (as ye knowe) we were bolde in
oure God, to speake vnto you ye Gospel of God with moch stryuynge. |
2 But euen after that we had
suffered before, and were shamefully entreated at Philippi, (as ye knowe) we
were bolde in our God, to speake vnto you the Gospell of God with much
striuing. |
2
But euen after that we had suffred before, and were shamefully entreated as
ye knowe, at Philippos, we were bolde in our God, to speake vnto you the
Gospell of God, in much stryuyng. |
2 But euen after that wee had
suffered before, and were shamefully entreated, as ye know, at Philippi, wee
were bold in our God, to speake vnto you the Gospel of God with much
contention. |
2:3 |
3 And oure exortacioun is not of
errour, nether of vnclennesse, nether in gile, |
3 Our exhortation was not to
bring you to error, nor yet to uncleanness, neither was it with guile: |
3 Oure exhortacion was not to
brynge you to erroure nor yet to
vnclennes nether was it with gyle: |
3 For oure exhortacion was not
to brynge you to erroure ner yet to vnclennes, nether was it with gyle: |
3 For our exhortation was not by
deceite, nor by vncleannes, nor by guile. |
3
For our exhortation was not of deceit, neither of vncleannes, neither in
guile: |
3 For our exhortation was not of
deceite, nor of vncleannesse, nor in guile: |
2:4 |
4 but as we ben preued of God,
that the gospel of God schulde be takun to vs, so we speken; not as plesynge
to men, but to God that preueth oure hertis. |
4 but as we were allowed of God,
that the gospell should be committed unto us: even so we speak, not as though
we intended to please men, but God, which trieth our hearts. |
4 but as we were alowed of
God that the gospell shuld be comitted
vnto vs: even so we speake not as
though we entended to please men but God which trieth oure hertes. |
4 but as we are alowed of God,
that the Gospell shulde be commytted vnto vs to preache, euen so we speake,
not as though we wolde please me, but God, which tryeth oure hertes. |
4 But as we were allowed of God,
that the Gospel should be committed vnto vs, so we speake, not as they that
please men, but God, which approoueth our hearts. |
4
But as it were alowed of God, to be put in credite with the Gospell: euen so
we speake, not as pleasyng men, but God, which tryeth our heartes. |
4 But as we were allowed of God
to bee put in trust with the Gospel, euen so wee speake, not as pleasing men,
but God, which trieth our hearts. |
2:5 |
5 For nether we weren ony tyme
in word of glosing, as ye witen, nether in occasioun of auerise; God is
witnesse; nether sekinge glorie of men, |
5 ¶ Neither was our conversation
at any time with flattering words (as ye well know) neither in cloaked
covetousness, God is record: |
5 Nether was oure conversacion
at eny tyme wt flatterynge wordes as
ye well knowe nether in cloked coveteousnes
God is recorde: |
5 For we haue not gone aboute
with flateringe wordes (as ye knowe) ner wayted for oure owne profit ( God is
recorde) |
5 Neither yet did we euer vse
flattering wordes, as ye knowe, nor coloured couetousnes, God is recorde. |
5
For neither at any tyme vsed we flatteryng wordes, as ye knowe, neither cloke
of couetousnes, God [is] recorde, |
5 For neither at any time vsed
wee flattering wordes, as yee knowe, nor a cloke of couetousnesse, God is
witnesse: |
2:6 |
6 nether of you, |
6 neither sought we praise of
men, neither of you, nor yet of any other, when we might have been chargable,
as the Apostles of Christ: |
6 nether sought we prayse of
men nether of you nor yet of eny other when we myght have bene chargeable as the apostles of Christ |
6 nether soughte we prayse of
men, nether of you ner of eny other, whan we mighte haue bene chargeable vnto
you as the Apostles off Christ, |
6 Neither sought we prayse of
men, neither of you, nor of others, when we might haue bene chargeable, as
the Apostles of Christ. |
6
Neither sought we prayse of men, neither of you, nor yet of others: |
6 Nor of men sought we glorie,
neither of you, nor yet of others, when we might haue beene burdensome, as
the Apostles of Christ. {been…: or, used authority} |
2:7 |
7 nether of othere, whanne we,
as Cristis apostlis, miyten haue be in charge to you. But we weren maad litle
in the myddil of you, as if a nursche fostre hir sones; |
7 but were tender among you,
even as a nurse cherisheth her children, |
7
but we were tender amonge you even as
a norsse cheressheth her children |
7 but we were tender amonge you.
Like as a norsse cherisheth hir children, |
7 But we were gentle among you,
euen as a nource cherisheth her children. |
7
When we myght haue ben in auctoritie, as the Apostles of Christe, but we were
tender among you, euen as a nource cherissheth her chyldren, |
7 But wee were gentle among you,
euen as a nurse cherisheth her children: |
2:8 |
8 so we desiringe you with greet
loue, wolden haue bitake to you, not oneli the gospel of God, but also oure
lyues, for ye ben maad most dereworthe to vs. |
8 so was our affection toward
you our good will was to have dealt unto you, not the gospell of God only:
but also our own souls, because ye were dear unto us. |
8 so was oure affeccion towarde
you oure good will was to have dealte
vnto you not the gospell of God only:
but also oure awne soules because ye
were deare vnto vs. |
8 euen so had we hartely
affeccion towarde you, and wolde with good wyl haue dealte vnto you, not
onely the Gospell of God, but oure lyues also, because ye were deare vnto vs. |
8 Thus being affectioned toward
you, our good will was to haue dealt vnto you, not the Gospel of God onely,
but also our owne soules, because ye were deare vnto vs. |
8
So, beyng tenderly affected towarde you, our good wyll was to haue dealt vnto
you, not the Gospell of God only: but also our owne soules, because ye were
deare vnto vs. |
8 So being affectionately
desirous of you, we were willing to haue imparted vnto you, not the Gospel of
God only, but also our owne soules, because ye were deare vnto vs. |
2:9 |
9 For, britheren, ye ben
myndeful of oure trauel and werynesse; we worchiden nyyt and day, that we
schulden not greue ony of you, and prechiden to you the euangelie of God. |
9 ¶ Ye remember brethren our
labour and travail. For we laboured day and night, because we would not be
grievous unto any of you, and preached you the gospell of God. |
9 Ye remember brethre oure
laboure and travayle. For we
laboured daye and nyght because we
wolde not be greveous vnto eny of you
and preached vnto you ye gospell of God. |
9 Ye remembre brethren oure
laboure and trauayle. For daye and nighte wroughte we (because we wolde not
be chargeable vnto eny of you) and preached the Gospell of God amonge you. |
9 For ye remember, brethren, our
labour and trauaile: for we laboured day and night, because we would not be
chargeable vnto any of you, and preached vnto you the Gospel of God. |
9
For ye remember brethren, our labour and trauayle. For we labouryng nyght
& day, because we woulde not be chargeable vnto any of you, preached vnto
you the Gospell of God. |
9 For yee remember, brethren,
our labour and trauaile: for labourng night and day, because wee would not
bee chargeable vnto any of you, wee preached vnto you the Gospel of God. |
2:1 |
10 God and ye ben witnessis, hou
holili, and iustli, and with outen pleynt, we weren to you that bileueden. |
10 Ye are witnesses, and so is
God, how holily and justly (that no man could blame us) we behaved ourselves
among you that believe, |
10 Ye are witnesses and so is god how holyly and iustly and vnblameable we
behaved oure selves amonge you that beleve: |
10 Ye are witnesses, and so is
God, how holyly and iustly and vnblameable we behaued oure selues amoge you
that beleue: |
10 Ye are witnesses, and God
also, how holily, and iustly, and vnblameably we behaued our selues among you
that beleeue. |
10
Ye [are] witnesses, & God [also] howe holyly, and iustly, and
vnblameably, we behaued our selues among you that beleue. |
10 Yee are witnesses, and God
also, how holily, and iustly, and vnblameably wee behaued our selues among
you that beleeue. |
2:11 |
11 As ye witen, hou we preyeden
you, and coumfortiden ech of you, as the fadir hise sones, |
11 as ye know how that we
exhorted and comforted, and besought every one of you, as a father his
children, |
11 as ye knowe how that we
exhorted and comforted and besought every one of you as a father his childre |
11 as ye knowe, how that as a
father his children, euen so exhorted we and comforted and besoughte euery
one of you, |
11 As ye knowe how that we
exhorted you, and comforted, and besought euery one of you (as a father his
children) |
11
As ye knowe, howe that as a father his chyldren, so we haue exhorted,
comforted, and besought euery one of you, |
11 As you know, how wee exhorted
and comforted, and charged euery one of you, (as a father doeth his
children,) |
2:12 |
12 and we han witnessid, that ye
schulden go worthili to God, that clepide you in to his kingdom and glorie. |
12 that ye would walk worthy of
the lord, which hath called you unto his kingdom and glory. |
12 that ye wolde walke worthy of
God which hath called you vnto his
kyngdome and glory. |
12 that ye wolde walke worthely
before God, which hath called you vnto his kyngdome & glory. |
12 That ye would walke worthy of
God, who hath called you vnto his kingdome and glorie. |
12
That ye woulde walke worthie of God, who hath called you vnto his kyngdome
and glorie. |
12 That ye would walke worthy of
God, who hath called you vnto his kingdome and glory. |
2:13 |
13 Therfor we doon thankingis to
God with outen ceessyng. For whanne ye hadden take of vs the word `of the
heryng of God, ye token it not as the word of men, but as `it is verili, the
word of God, that worchith in you that han bileued. |
13 ¶ For this cause thank we God
without ceasing, because that when ye received of us the word, wherewith God
was preached, ye received it not as the word of man: but even as it was in
deed, the word of God, which worketh in you that believe. |
13 For this cause thanke we god
with out ceasynge because that when ye
receaved of vs the worde wherwith God
was preached ye receaved it not as the
worde of man: but even as it was in dede
the worde of God which worketh
in you that beleve. |
13 For this cause thanke we God
without ceassynge, because that wha ye receaued of vs the worde of the
preachinge of God, ye receaued it not as ye worde of men, but (eue as it is
of a trueth) the worde of God, which worketh in you that beleue. |
13 For this cause also thanke we
God without ceasing, that when ye receiued the worde of God, which ye heard
of vs, ye receiued it not as the worde of men, but as it is in deede the
worde of God, which also worketh in you that beleeue. |
13
For this cause thanke we God also without ceassyng, because ye receauyng the
worde which ye hearde of vs concernyng God, ye receaued it not as the worde
of man, (but as it is in deede) the worde of God, which effectuously worketh
also in you that beleue. |
13 For this cause also thanke
wee God without ceasing, because when yee receiued the word of God, which yee
heard of vs, yee receiued it not as the word of men, but (as it is in trueth)
the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that beleeue. |
2:14 |
14 For, britheren, ye ben maad
foleweris of the chirchis of God, that ben in Jude, in Crist Jhesu, for ye
han suffrid the same thingis of youre euene lynagis, as thei of the Jewis. |
14 For ye brethren did
counterfeit the congregations of God which in jewry are in Christ Iesu: for
ye have suffered like things of your kinsmen, as we our selves have suffered
of the Iewes, |
14 For ye brethre became
folowers of the congregacions of god which in Iewry are in Christ Iesu: for
ye have suffered lyke thynges of youre kynsmen as we oure selves have
suffered of the Iewes. |
14 For ye brethren are become
the folowers off the congregacions off God which in Iewry are in Christ Iesu,
so that ye haue suffred euen like thinges of youre kynsmen, as they haue
suffred of the Iewes. |
14 For brethren, ye are become
folowers of the Churches of God, which in Iudea are in Christ Iesus, because
ye haue also suffred the same things of your owne countrey men, euen as they
haue of the Iewes, |
14
For ye brethren became folowers of the Churches of God, which in Iurie are in
Christe Iesus: for ye haue suffred lyke thynges of your countreymen, as they
haue of the Iewes: |
14 For yee, brethren, became
followers of the Churches of God, which in Iudea are in Christ Iesus: for ye
also haue suffered like things of your owne countreymen, euen as they haue of
the Iewes: |
2:15 |
15 Whiche slowen bothe the Lord
Jhesu and the profetis, and pursueden vs, and thei plesen not to God, and
thei ben aduersaries to alle men; |
15 which as they killed the lord
Iesus and their own prophets, even so have they persecuted us, and God they
please not, and are contrary to all men: |
15 Which as they kylled the
lorde Iesus and their awne prophetes
even so have they persecuted vs
and God they please not and are
contrary to all men |
15 Which as they put the LORDE
Iesus to death, and their awne prophetes, euen so haue they persecuted vs
also, and please not God, and are cotrary to all men, |
15 Who both killed the Lord
Iesus and their owne Prophets, and haue persecuted vs away, and God they
