oure trouble: in so moch yt we are able to comforte them that are in eny
maner of trouble, with the same comforte wher with we oure selues are

1:5 |
5 For as the passiouns of Crist
ben plenteuouse in vs, so also bi Crist oure coumfort is plenteuouse. |
5 For as the afflictions of
Christ are plenteous in us: even so is our consolation plenteous by Christ. |
5 For as ye affliccios of Christ
are pleteous in vs eve so is oure consolacio plenteous by Christ. |
5 For as the affliccios of
Christ are plenteous in vs, euen so is or cosolacion plenteous by Christ. |
5 For as the sufferings of
Christ abounde in vs, so our consolation aboundeth through Christ. |
5
For as the afflictions of Christ are plenteous in vs: euen so is our
consolation plenteous by Christe. |
5 For as the sufferings of
Christ abound in vs, so our consolation also aboundeth by Christ. |
1:6 |
6 And whether we ben in
tribulacioun, for youre tribulacioun and heelthe, ethir we ben coumfortid,
for youre coumfort, ethir we ben monestid, for youre monestyng and heelthe.
Which worchith in you the suffring of the same passiouns, whiche `we also
suffren, |
6 ¶ Whether we be troubled for
your consolation, and health, which health sheweth her power in that ye
suffer the same afflictions which we also suffer: or whether we be comforted
for your consolation and health: |
6 Whether we be troubled for
youre consolacion and salvacio which salvacion sheweth her power in yt ye
soffre ye same affliccios which we also suffre: or whether we be coforted for
youre consolacion and salvacion: |
6 But whether we haue trouble or
comforte, it is done for youre welth. Yf it be trouble, it is done for youre
coforte and health, which health sheweth hir power, in that ye suffre the
same affliccions which we suffre. Yf it be comforte, it is done also fo |
6 And whether we be afflicted,
it is for your consolation and saluation, which is wrought in the induring of
the same sufferings, which we also suffer: or whether we be comforted, it is
for your consolation and saluation. |
6
Whether we be troubled [it is] for your consolation and saluation, which
saluation sheweth her power, in that ye suffer the same afflictions whiche we
also suffer: or whether we be comforted [it is] for your consolation &
saluation: |
6 And whether we be afflicted,
it is for your consolation and saluation, which is effectuall in the enduring
of the same sufferings, which wee also suffer: or whether we be comforted, it
is for your consolation, and saluation. {is effectual: or, is wrought} |
1:7 |
7 that oure hope be sad for you;
witynge for as ye ben felowis of passiouns, so ye schulen ben also of
coumfort. |
7 yet our hope is steadfast for
you inasmuch as we know how that as ye have your part in afflictions, so
shall ye be part takers of consolation. |
7 yet oure hope is stedfast for
you in as moch as we know how that as ye have youre parte in affliccios so
shall ye be parttakers of consolacion. |
7 Therfore is oure hope fast for
you, in as moch as we knowe, that, like as ye are partakers of the
affliccios, so shal ye be partakers also of the consolacion. |
7 And our hope is stedfast
concerning you, in as much as we know that as ye are partakers of the
sufferings, so shall ye be also of the consolation. |
7
And our hope is stedfast, insomuch as we knowe howe that as ye are partakers
of ye afflictions, so ye be partakers also of the consolation. |
7 And our hope of you is
stedfast, knowing, that as you are partakers of the sufferings, so shall yee
be also of the consolatiou. |
1:8 |
8 For, britheren, we wolen that
ye wite of oure tribulacioun, that was don in Asie; for ouer maner we weren
greued ouer myyt, so that it anoiede vs, yhe, to lyue. |
8 ¶ Brethren i would not have
you ignorant of our trouble, which happened unto us in Asia. For we were
grieved out of measure passing strength, so greatly that we despaired even of
life. |
8 Brethren I wolde not have you
ignoraut of oure trouble which happened vnto vs in Asia. For we were greved
out of measure passynge strength so greatly that we despeared even of lyfe. |
8 Brethren we wolde not haue you
ignoraunt of oure trouble, which happened vnto vs in Asia, for we were greued
out off measure passynge strength, so that we euen dispared of life, |
8 For brethren, we woulde not
haue you ignorant of our affliction, which came vnto vs in Asia, howe we were
pressed out of measure passing strength, so that we altogether doubted, euen
of life. |
8
For we woulde not brethren haue you ignoraunt of our trouble, whiche came
vnto vs in Asia: For we were greeued out of measure, passyng strength, so
greatly, that we dispayred euen of lyfe. |
8 For we would not, brethren,
haue you ignorant of our trouble which came to vs in Asia, that we were
pressed out of measure, aboue strength, in so much that we dispaired euen of
life. |
1:9 |
9 But we in vs silf hadden
answere of deth, that we truste not in vs, but in God that reisith deed men. |
9 Also we received an answer of
death in ourselves, and that was done because we should not put our trust in
ourselves: but in God, which raiseth the dead to life again: |
9 Also we receaved an answer of
deeth in oure selves and that because we shuld not put oure trust in oure
selves: but in God which rayseth the deed to lyfe agayne |
9 and had concluded in oure
selues yt we must nedes dye. But this was done, because we shulde not put
oure trust in oure selues, but in God, which rayseth vp the deed to life
agayne: |
9 Yea, we receiued the sentence
of death in our selues, because we shoulde not trust in our selues, but in
God, which rayseth the dead. |
9
Yea, we receaued the sentence of death in our selues, that we should not put
our trust in our selues, but in God, whiche rayseth the dead: |
9 But we had the sentence of
death in our selues, that we should not trust in our selues, but in God which
raiseth the dead. {sentence: or, answer} |
1:10 |
10 Which delyuerede vs, and
delyuerith fro so grete perelis, in to whom we hopen, also yit he schal
delyuere, |
10 Which delivered us from so
great a death, and doth deliver, on whom we trust, that yet hereafter he will
deliver us, |
10 and which delivered vs from
so gret a deeth and doth delivre. On whom we trust yt yet hereafter he will
deliver |
10 which delyuered vs from so
greate a death, and yet delyuereth daylie, On whom we trust, that he wil
delyuer vs here after also, |
10 Who deliuered vs from so
great a death, and doeth deliuer vs: in whom we trust, that yet hereafter he
will deliuer vs, |
10
Who delyuered vs from so great a death, and doth deliuer: On whom we trust
that yet hereafter he wyll deliuer, |
10 Who deliuered vs from so
great a death, and doeth deliuer: in whom we trust that he will yet deliuer
vs: |
1:11 |
11 while also ye helpen in
preier for vs; that of the persones of many faces of that yyuyng that is in
vs, thankyngis ben don for vs bi many men to God. |
11 by the help of your prayer
for us: That by the means of many occasions, thanks may be given of many on
our behalf, For the grace given unto us. |
11 by the helpe of youre prayer
for vs: that by the meanes of many occasions thankes maye be geven of many on
oure behalfe for the grace geven vnto vs. |
11 by the helpe of youre prayer
for vs that on oure behalfe many thankes maye be geuen by many personnes, for
the gifte that is geuen vs. |
11 So that ye labour together in
prayer for vs, that for the gift bestowed vpon vs for many, thankes may be
giuen by many persons for vs. |
11
By the helpe of your prayer for vs, that by ye meanes of many persons,
thankes may geuen of many on our behalfe, for the grace geuen vnto vs. |
11 You also helping together by
prayer for vs, that for the gift bestowed vpon vs by the meanes of many

1:12 |
12 For oure glorie is this, the
witnessyng of oure conscience, that in symplenesse and clennesse of God, and
not in fleischli wisdom, but in the grace of God, we lyueden in this world,
but more plenteuousli to you. |
12 ¶ Our rejoicing is this, the
testimony of our conscience, that we with out doubleness, but with godly
pureness: not in fleshly wisdom, but by the grace of God, have had our
conversation in the world, and most of all to youwards. |
12 Oure reioysynge is this the
testimony of oure coscience yt in synglenes and godly purenes and not in
flesshly wysdome but by the grace of God we have had oure conuersacion in the
worlde and most of all to you wardes. |
12 For oure reioysinge is this,
euen the testimony of oure conscience, that in synglenes & godly
purenesse, not in fleshlye wyssdome, but in the grace of God, we haue had
oure conuersacion in the worlde, but most of all with you. |
12 For our reioycing is this,
the testimonie of our conscience, that in simplicitie and godly purenesse,
and not in fleshly wisedome, but by the grace of God wee haue had our

12
For our reioycyng is this, the testimonie of our conscience, that in

12 For our reioycing is this,
the testimony of our conscience, that in simplicitie and godly sinceritie,
not with fleshly wisedome, but by the grace of God, wee haue had our
conuersation in the world, and more aboundantly to youwards. |
1:13 |
13 And we writen not othere
thingis to you, than tho that ye han red and knowe, and Y hope that in to the
ende ye schulen knowe, |
13 We write no other things unto
you, than that ye read and also know. Yee and i trust ye shall find us unto
the end |
13 We write no nother thinges
vnto you then that ye reade and also knowe. Yee and I trust ye shall fynde vs
vnto the ende even as ye have founde vs partly: |
13 For we wryte nothinge els
vnto you, then that ye rede and also knowe. Yee & I trust that ye shal
fynde vs vnto the ende, euen as ye haue founde vs partly. |
13 For wee write none other
thinges vnto you, then that ye reade or els that ye acknowledge, and I trust
ye shall acknowledge vnto ye end. |
13
We write none other thinges vnto you then that ye read, or also yt ye
acknowledge, and I trust ye shall acknowledge vs vnto the ende. |
13 For we write none other
things vnto you, then what you reade or acknowledge, and I trust you shall
acknowledge euen to the end. |
1:14 |
14 as also ye han knowe vs a
parti; for we ben youre glorie, as also ye ben oure in the dai of oure Lord
Jhesu Crist. |
14 even as ye have found us
partly, for we are your rejoicing, even as ye are ours in the day of the lord
Iesus. |
14 for we are youre reioysynge
even as ye are oures in the daye of the Lorde Iesus. |
14 For we are youre reioysinge,
eue as ye also are oure reioysinge in ye daye of the LORDE Iesus. |
14 Euen as ye haue acknowledged

Lord Iesus. |
14
Euen as ye haue acknowledged vs partly: For we are your reioycing, euen as ye
are ours in the daye of our Lorde Iesus. |
14 As also you haue acknowledged
vs in part, that we are your reioycing, euen as ye also are ours, in the day
of the Lord Iesus. |
1:15 |
15 And in this tristyng Y wolde
first come to you, that ye schulden haue the secounde grace, |
15 ¶ And in this confidence was
i minded the other time to have come unto you (that ye might have had a
double pleasure,) |
15 And in this confidence was I
mynded the other tyme to have come vnto you that ye myght have had yet one
pleasure moare: |
15 And in this confidence was I
mynded the other tyme to come vnto you (that ye mighte haue yet another
pleasure more) |
15 And in this confidence was I
minded first to come vnto you, that ye might haue had a double grace, |
15
And in this confidence was I minded first to haue come vnto you, yt ye myght
haue had one pleasure more: |
15 And in this confidence I was
minded to come vnto you before, that you might haue a second benefit:
{benefit: or, grace} |
1:16 |
16 and passe bi you in to
Macedonye, and eft fro Macedonye come to you, and of you be led in to Judee. |
16 and to have passed by you
into Macedonia, and to have come again out of Macedonia unto you, and to have
been led forth to Iewryward of you. |
16 and to have passed by you
into Macedonia and to have come agayne out of Macedonia vnto you and to have
bene ledde forth to Iewrye warde of you. |
16 & to passe by you in to
Macedonia, & to come againe out of Macedonia vnto you & to be led
forth to Iewrye warde of you. |
16 And to passe by you into
Macedonia, and to come againe out of Macedonia vnto you, and to be led foorth
towarde Iudea of you. |
16
And to passe by you into Macedonia, and to haue come agayne out of Macedonia
vnto you, and to be led foorth of you to Iurie. |
16 And to passe by you into
Macedonia, and to come againe out of Macedonia vnto you, and of you to bee
brought on my way toward Iudea. |
1:17 |
17 But whanne Y wolde this
thing, whether Y vside vnstidfastnesse, ether tho thingis that Y thenke, Y
thenke aftir the fleisch, that at me be, it is and it is not? |
17 ¶ When i thuswise was minded:
Did i use lightness? Or think i carnally those things which i think? that
with me should be yee yee, and nay nay. |
17 When I thus wyse was mynded:
dyd I vse lightnes? Or thinke I carnally those thinges which I thinke? that
with me shuld be ye ye and naye naye. |
17 Whan I thus wyse was mynded,
dyd I vse ligthnesse? Or are my thoughtes fleshly.? Not so but with me yee is
yee, and nay is naye. |
17 When I therefore was thus
minded, did I vse lightnesse? or minde I those thinges which I minde,
according to the flesh, that with me should be, Yea, yea, and Nay, nay? |
17
When I therfore was thus mynded, did I vse lightnesse? or mynde I carnally
those thynges whiche I mynde, that with me shoulde be yea yea, & nay
nay? |
17 When I therefore was thus
minded, did I vse lightnesse? or the things that I purpose, doe I purpose
according to the flesh, that with mee there should be yea yea, and nay nay? |
1:18 |
18 But God is trewe, for oure
word that was at you is and is not, is not ther ynne, but is is in it. |
18 God is faithful: For our
preaching unto you, was not yee and nay. |
18 God is faythfull: For oure
preachynge vnto you was not ye and naye. |
18 O faithfull God, that oure
worde vnto you hath not bene yee and naye. |
18 Yea, God is faithfull, that
our worde towarde you was not Yea, and Nay. |
18
God is faythfull: For our preaching to you, was not yea and nay. |
18 But as God is true, our word
toward you, was not yea and nay. {word: or, preaching} |
1:19 |
19 For whi Jhesus Crist, the
sone of God, which is prechid among you bi vs, bi me, and Syluan, and
Tymothe, ther was not in hym is and is not, but is was in hym. |
19 For Goddis son Iesus Christ
which was preached among you by us (that is to say by me and Silvanus and
Thimotheus) was not yee and nay: but in him it was Yee: |
19 For Goddis sonne Iesus Christ
which was preached amonge you by vs (that is to saye by me and Silvanus and
Timotheus) was not ye and naye: but in him it was ye. |
19 For Gods sonne Iesus Christ,
which was preached amonge you by vs (namely, by me and Siluanus and
Timotheus) was not yee and naye, but in him it was yee. |
19 For the Sonne of God Iesus
Christ, who was preached among you by vs, that is, by me, and Siluanus, and
Timotheus, was not Yea, and Nay: but in him it was Yea. |
19
For Gods sonne Iesus Christe which was preached among you by vs, euen by me,
and Siluanus, and Timotheus, was not yea and nay, but in hym it was yea. |
19 For the Sonne of God Iesus
Christ, who was preached among you by vs, euen by me, and Syluanus and
Timotheus, was not Yea, and Nay, but in him, was yea. |
1:20 |
20 For whi hou many euer ben
biheestis of God, in thilke is, `that is, ben fillid. And therfor and bi hym
we seien amen to God, to oure glorie. |
20 For all the promises of God,
in him are Yee: and are in him Amen, unto the laud of God thorow us. |
20 For all the promyses of God
in him are ye: and are in him Amen vnto the lawde of God thorow vs. |
20 For all the promyses of God
are yee in him, & are Ame in him, to the prayse of God by vs. |
20 For all the promises of God
in him are Yea, and are in him Amen, vnto the glorie of God through vs. |
20
For all the promises of God in him are yea, and are in him Amen, vnto the
glorie of God, through vs. |
20 For all the promises of God
in him are Yea, and in him Amen, vnto the glory of God by vs. |
1:21 |
21 Sotheli it is God that
confermeth vs with you in Crist, and the which God anoyntide vs, |
21 It is God which stablisheth
us and you in Christ, and hath anointed us, |
21 For it is God which
stablissheth vs and you in Christ and hath annoynted vs |
21 But it is God which
stablysheth vs wt you in Christ, and hath anoynted us, |
21 And it is God which
stablisheth vs with you in Christ, and hath anoynted vs. |
21
And God it is whiche stablysheth vs with you in Christe, and hath annoynted
vs. |
21 Now hee which stablisheth vs
with you, in Christ, and hath anoynted vs, is God, |
1:22 |
22 and which markide vs, and yaf
ernes of the spirit in oure hertis. |
22 which hath also sealed us,
and hath given the earnest of the spirit into our hearts. |
22 which hath also sealed vs and
hath geven the ernest of the sprete into oure hertes. |
22 and sealed us, and geuen the
ernest of the sprete in oure hertes. |
22 Who hath also sealed vs, and
hath giuen the earnest of the Spirit in our hearts. |
22
Which hath also sealed vs, and hath geuen the earnest of the spirite in our
heartes. |
22 Who hath also sealed vs, and
giuen the earnest of the Spirit in our hearts. |
1:23 |
23
For Y clepide God to witnesse ayens my soule, that Y sparynge you cam not
ouer to Corynthe; |
23 ¶ i call God for a record
unto my soul, that for to favor you with all, i came not any more unto
Corinthum. |
23 I call God for a recorde vnto
my soule that forto faver you with all I came not enymoare vnto Corinthum. |
23 Bvt I call God to recorde
vnto my soule, that to fauoure you withall I came not agayne vnto Corinthum. |
23 Nowe, I call God for a
recorde vnto my soule, that to spare you, I came not as yet vnto Corinthus. |
23
I call God for a recorde vnto my soule, that to spare you I came not as yet
vnto Corinthus. |
23 Moreouer, I call God for a
record vpon my soule, that to spare you I came not as yet vnto Corinth. |
1:24 |
not that we ben lordis of youre
feith, but we ben helperis of youre ioye; for thorouy bileue ye stonden. |
24 Not that we be lords over
your faith: but helpers of your joy. For by faith ye stand. |
24 Not that we be lordes over
youre fayth: but helpers of youre ioye. For by fayth ye stode. |
24 Not that we are lordes ouer
youre faith, but we are helpers of youre ioye, for ye stonde in faith. |
24 Not that wee haue dominion
ouer your faith, but wee are helpers of your ioy: for by faith yee stande. |
24
Not that we be Lordes ouer your fayth, but are helpers of your ioy. For by
fayth ye stande. |
24 Not for that we haue dominion
ouer your faith, but are helpers of your ioy: for by faith ye stand. |
2:1 |
1 And Y ordeynede this ilke
thing at me, that Y schulde not come eftsoone in heuynes to you. |
1 But i determined this in
myself, that i would not come again to you in heaviness. |
1 But I determened this in my
silfe yt I wolde not come agayne to you in hevines. |
1 But I determyned this wt my
selfe, that I wolde not come agayne to you in heuynes. |
1 Bvt I determined thus in my
selfe, that I would not come againe to you in heauinesse. |
1
But I determined this in my selfe, yt I would not come againe to you in
heauynesse. |
1 But I determined this with my
selfe, that I would not come againe to you in heauinesse. |
2:2 |
2 For if Y make you sori, who is
he that gladith me, but he that is soreuful of me? |
2 For if i make you sorry: who
is it that should make me glad, but the same which is made sorry by me? |
2 For yf I make you sorye who is
it that shuld make me glad but the same which is made sory by me? |
2 For yf I make you sory, who is
it that shal make me glad, but the same which is made sory by me? |
2 For if I make you sorie, who
is he then that shoulde make me glad, but ye same which is made sorie by me? |
2
For if I make you sorie, who is he yt shoulde make me glad, but the same
which is made sorie by me? |
2 For if I make you sorie, who
is hee then that maketh mee glad, but the same which is made sorie by me. |
2:3 |
3 And this same thing Y wroot to
you, that whanne Y come, Y haue not sorewe on sorewe, of the whiche it
behofte me to haue ioie. And Y triste in you alle, that my ioye is of alle
you. |
3 And i wrote this same pistel
unto you, lest if i came, i should take heaviness of them, of whom i ought to
rejoice. Certainly this confidence have i in you all, that my joy is the joy
of you all. |
3 And I wrote this same pistle
vnto you lest yf I came I shuld take hevynes of them of whom I ought to
reioyce. Certaynly this confidence have I in you all that my ioye is the ioye
of you all. |
3 And the same haue I wrytten
vnto you, lest wha I come, I shulde take heuynes of them, of whom I oughte to
reioyse: for somoch as I haue this confidence in you all, that my ioye is the
ioye of you all. |
3 And I wrote this same thing
vnto you, lest when I came, I should take heauines of them, of whom I ought
to reioyce: this confidence haue I in you all, that my ioye is the ioye of
you all. |
3
And I wrote this same vnto you, lest when I came, I shoulde take heauynesse
of them of whom I ought to reioyce. This confidence haue I toward you all,
that my ioy is [the ioy] of you all. |
3 And I wrote this same vnto
you, least when I came, I should haue sorrow from them of whome I ought to
reioyce, hauing confidence in you all, that my ioy is the ioy of you all. |
2:4 |
4 For of myche tribulacioun and
angwisch of herte Y wroot to you by many teeris, not that ye be sori, but
that ye wite what charite Y haue more plenteuously in you. |
4 For in great affliction and
anguish of heart i wrote unto you with many tears: not to make you sorry, but
that ye might perceive the love which i have most specially unto you. |
4 For in great affliccion and
anguysshe of hert I wrote vnto you with many teares: not to make you sory but
that ye myght perceave the love which I have most specially vnto you. |
4 For in greate trouble and
anguysh of hert wrote I vnto you with many teares: not yt ye shulde be sory,
but that ye mighte perceaue the loue, which I haue most specially vnto you. |
4 For in great affliction, and
anguish of heart I wrote vnto you with many teares: not that yee should be
made sorie, but that ye might perceiue the loue which I haue, specially vnto
you. |
4
For in great affliction and anguishe of heart, I wrote vnto you with many
teares, not that ye shoulde be made sorie, but that ye myght perceaue the
loue which I haue, most specially vnto you. |
4 For out of much affliction and
anguish of heart, I wrote vnto you with many teares, not that you should bee
grieued, but that yee might knowe the loue which I haue more abundantly vnto
you. |
2:5 |
5 For if ony man hath maad me
soreuful, he hath not maad me sorewful but a parti, that Y charge not you
alle. |
5 ¶ If any man hath caused
sorrow, the same hath not made me sorry: but partly, lest i should grieve you
all. |
5 If eny man hath caused sorow
the same hath not made me sory but partely: lest I shuld greve you all. |
5 But yf eny man haue caused
sorowe, the same hath not made me sory, but partely, lest I shulde greue you
all. |
5 And if any hath caused sorowe,
the same hath not made mee sorie, but partly (lest I should more charge him)
you all. |
5
But yf any man hath caused sorowe, the same hath not made me sorie, but
partly, lest I shoulde greeue you all. |
5 But if any haue caused griefe,
hee hath not grieued mee, but in part: that I may not ouercharge you all. |
2:6 |
6 This blamyng that ys maad of
manye, suffisith to hym, that is sich oon; |
6 It is sufficient unto the same
man that he was rebuked of many. |
6 It is sufficient vnto the same
man that he was rebuked of many. |
6 It is sufficient, that the
same man is so rebuked of many, |
6 It is sufficient vnto the same
man, that hee was rebuked of many. |
6
It is sufficient vnto the same man that he was rebuked of many. |
6 Sufficient to such a man is
this punishment, which was inflicted of many. {punishment: or, censure} |
2:7 |
7 so that ayenward ye rathir
foryyuen and coumfort, lest perauenture he that is suche a maner man, be
sopun vp bi more grete heuynesse. |
7 So that now contrarywise ye
ought to forgive him and comfort him: lest that same should be swallowed up
with overmuch heaviness. |
7 So that now contrary wyse ye
ought to forgeve him and comforte him: lest that same persone shuld be
swalowed vp with over moche hevines. |
7 so that from hence forth ye
oughte the more to forgeue him and to comforte him, lest he be swalowed vp in
ouer moch heuynesse. |
7 So that nowe contrariwise yee
ought rather to forgiue him, and comfort him, lest the same shoulde bee
swalowed vp with ouermuch heauinesse. |
7
So that nowe contrarywise, ye ought rather to forgeue hym, and comforte hym,
lest that same person shoulde be swallowed vp with ouermuche heauynesse. |
7 So that contrarywise, yee
ought rather to forgiue him, and comfort him, lest perhaps, such a one should
be swallowed vp with ouermuch sorrow. |
2:8 |
8 For which thing Y biseche you,
that ye conferme charite in to hym. |
8 Wherefore i exhort you, that
love may have strength over him. |
8 Wherfore I exhorte you that
love maye have stregth over him. |
8 Wherfore I exhorte you, that
ye shewe loue vpo him. |
8 Wherefore, I pray you, that
you woulde confirme your loue towards him. |
8
Wherfore I pray you, that you would confirme your loue towardes hym. |
8 Wherefore I beseech you, that
you would confirme your loue towards him. |
2:9 |
9 For whi therfor Y wroot this,
that Y knowe youre preuyng, whether in alle thingis ye ben obedient. |
9 For this cause verily did i
write, that i might know the proof of you, whether ye should be obedient in
all things. |
9 For this cause verely dyd I
write that I myght knowe the profe of you whether ye shuld be obediet in all
thinges. |
9 For therfore dyd I wryte vnto
you also, that I mighte knowe the profe of you, whether ye were obediet in
all thinges. |
9 For this cause also did I
write, that I might knowe the proofe of you, whether yee would be obedient in
all things. |
9
For this cause veryly did I write, that I myght knowe the profe of you,
whether ye be obedient in all thynges. |
9 For to this end also did I
write, that I might know the proofe of you, whether ye be obedient in all
things. |
2:10 |
10 For to whom ye han foryyuen
ony thing, also Y haue foryyue. For Y that that Y foryaf, yif Y foryaf ony
thing, haue youun for you in the persone of Crist, |
10 To whom ye forgive any thing,
i forgive also. And verily if i forgive any thing, to whom i forgave it for
your sakes forgave i it, in the room of Christ, |
10 To whom ye forgeve enythinge
I forgeve also. And verely if I forgeve enythinge to whom I forgave it for
youre sakes forgave I it in the roume of Christ |
10 But loke vnto who ye forgeue
eny thinge, I forgeue hi also. For I also, yf I forgeue ought vnto eny ma,
that forgeue I for youre sakes in the rowme of Christ, |
10 To whome yee forgiue any
thing, I forgiue also: for verely if I forgaue any thing, to whome I forgaue
it, for your sakes forgaue I it in the sight of Christ, |
10
To whom ye forgeue any thyng, I forgeue also. For if I forgaue any thing, to
whom I forgaue it, for your sakes forgaue I it, in the sight of Christe. |
10 To whom yee forgiue any
thing, I forgiue also: for if I forgaue any thing, to whom I forgaue it, for
your sakes forgaue I it, in the person of Christ, {in the person: or, in the
sight} |
2:11 |
11 that we be not disseyued of
Sathanas; for we knowen hise thouytis. |
11 lest Satan should prevent us.
For his thoughts are not unknown unto us. |
11 lest Satan shuld prevet vs.
For his thoughtes are not vnknowen vnto vs. |
11 lest we shulde be preuented
of Sathan. For his thoughtes are not vnknowne vnto vs. |
11 Lest Satan should circumuent
vs: for we are not ignorant of his enterprises. |
11
Lest Satan shoulde circumuent vs: For his thoughtes are not vnknowen vnto
vs. |
11 Lest Satan should get an
aduantage of vs: for wee are not ignorant of his deuices. |
2:12 |
12 But whanne Y was comun to
Troade for the gospel of Crist, and a dore was opened to me in the Lord, |
12 ¶ When i was come to Troada
for Christe's gospel's sake (and a great door was opened unto me of the lord) |
12 When I was come to Troada for
Christes gospels sake (and a great dore was openned vnto me of the Lorde) |
12 But wha I came to Troada to
preach ye Gospell of Christ (and a dore was opened vnto me in ye LODRE) |
12 Furthermore, when I came to
Troas to preach Christs Gospell, and a doore was opened vnto me of the Lord, |
12
Furthermore, when I came to Troada, to [preache] Christes Gospell, and a
doore was opened vnto me of the lorde, |
12 Furthermore when I came to
Troas, to preach Christs Gospel, and a doore was opened vnto mee of the Lord, |
2:13 |
13 Y hadde not rest to my
spirit, for Y foond not my brother Tite, but Y seide to hem farewel, and Y
passide in to Macedonye. |
13 i had no rest in my spirit,
because i found not Titus my brother: but took my leave of them and went away
into Macedonia. |
13 I had no rest in my sprete
because I founde not Titus my brother: but toke my leave of them and went
awaye into Macedonia. |
13 I had no rest in my sprete,
because I founde not Titus my brother: but I toke my leue of them, and wente
awaye in to Macedonia. |
13 I had no rest in my spirit,
because I founde not Titus my brother, but tooke my leaue of them, and went
away into Macedonia. |
13
I had no rest in my spirite, because I founde not Titus my brother, but toke
my leaue of them, and went away into Macedonia. |
13 I had no rest in my spirit,
because I found not Titus my brother, but taking my leaue of them, I went
from thence into Macedonia. |
2:14 |
14 And Y do thankyngis to God,
that euere more makith vs to haue victorie in Crist Jhesu, and schewith bi vs
the odour of his knowing in ech place; |
14 Thanks be unto God which
always giveth us the victory in Christ, and openeth the savor of his
knowledge by us in every place. |
14 Thankes be vnto God which
alwayes geveth vs the victorie in Christ and openeth the saver of his
knowledge by vs in every place. |
14 Yet thankes be vnto God,
which all waye geueth vs the victory in Christ, and openeth ye fauoure of his
knowlege by vs in euery place. |
14 Now thankes be vnto God,
which alwaies maketh vs to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the sauour
of his knowledge by vs in euery place. |
14
Nowe thankes be vnto God, whiche alwayes geueth vs the victorie in Christe,
and openeth the sauour of his knowledge by vs in euery place. |
14 Now thankes bee vnto God,
which alwayes causeth vs to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the sauour
of his knowledge by vs in euery place. |
2:15 |
15 for we ben the good odour of
Crist to God, among these that ben maad saaf, and among these that perischen. |
15 For we are unto God the sweet
savor of Christ, both among them that are saved, and also among them which
perish: |
15 For we are vnto God the swete
savoure of Christ both amoge them that are saved and also amoge them which
perisshe. |
15 For we are vnto God the good
fauoure of Christ, both amonge the yt are saued, & amonge them yt
perishe. |
15 For wee are vnto God the
sweete sauour of Christ, in them that are saued, and in them which perish. |
15
For we are vnto God the sweete sauour of Christe in them that are saued, and
in them which perisshe. |
15 For wee are vnto God, a sweet
sauour of Christ, in them that are saued, and in them that perish. |
2:16 |
16 To othere sotheli odour of
deth in to deth, but to othere we ben odour of lijf in to lijf. And to these
thingis who is so able? |
16 to the one part are we the
savor of death unto death: unto the other part are we the savor of life unto
life. And who is meet unto these things? |
16 To the one parte are we ye
savoure of deeth vnto deeth. And vnto the other parte are we the savoure of
lyfe vnto lyfe. And who is mete vnto these thinges? |
16 To these, ye sauoure of death
vnto death: but vnto ye other, the sauoure of life vnto life. And who is mete
therto? |
16 To the one we are the sauour
of death, vnto death, and to the other the sauour of life, vnto life: and who
is sufficient for these things? |
16
To the one part [are we] the sauour of death, vnto death: and vnto the other
part [are we] the sauour of lyfe vnto lyfe. And who is meete vnto these
thynges? |
16 To the one wee are the sauour
of death vnto death; and to the other, the sauour of life vnto life: and who
is sufficient for these things? |
2:17 |
17 For we ben not as many, that
don auoutrie bi the word of God, but we speken of clennesse, as of God, bifor
God in Crist. |
17 For we are not as many are
which chop and change with the word of God: but as they which speak of
pureness, and as they which speak off God in the sight of God, so speak we in
Christ. |
17 For we are not as many are
which choppe and chaunge with the worde of God: but even oute of purenes and
by the power of God and in the sight of God so speake we in Christ. |
17 For we are not as many are,
which choppe & chaunge wt the worde of God, but eue out of purenesse, and
out of God, in ye sighte of God, so speake we in Christ. |
17 For wee are not as many,
which make marchandise of the woorde of God: but as of sinceritie, but as of
God in ye sight of God speake we in Christ. |
17
For we are not as many are, whiche chop & chaunge with the word of God:
but as of purenesse of God, in the syght of God, so speake we in
Christe. |
17 For wee are not as many which
corrupt the word of God: but as of sinceritie, but as of God, in the sight of
God speake we in Christ. {corrupt: or, deal deceitfully with} {in Christ: or,
of Christ} |
3:1 |
1 Bigynnen we therfor eftsoone
to preise vs silf? or whether we neden, as summen, pistlis of preisinge to
you, or of you? |
1 ¶ We begin to praise ourselves
again. Need we as some other of pistels of recommendation unto you? or
letters of recommendation from you? |
1 We begyn to prayse oure selves
agayne. Nede we as some other of pistles of recommendacion vnto you? or
letters of recomendacion from you? |
1 Begynne we then agayne to
prayse or selues? Or nede we (as some other) of pistles of commedacion vnto
you or letters of commedacion from you? |
1 Doe we begin to praise our
selues againe? or neede we as some other, epistles of recommendation vnto
you, or letters of recommendation from you? |
1
Do we begyn to prayse our selues agayne? Or neede we [as some other] of
epistles of recomendation vnto you? or [letters] of recommendation from
you? |
1 Doe wee begin againe to
commend our selues? or need wee, as some others, Epistles of commendation to
you, or letters of commendation from you? |
3:2 |
2 Ye ben oure pistle, writun in
oure hertis, which is knowun and red of alle men, |
2 Ye are our pistel written in
our hearts, which is understood and read of all men, |
2 Ye are oure pistle written in
oure hertes which is vnderstonde and reed of all men |
2 Ye are oure epistle wrytten in
oure hertes: which is vnderstonde and red of all me, |
2 Yee are our epistle, written
in our hearts, which is vnderstand, and read of all men, |
2
Ye are our epistle written in our heartes, whiche is vnderstande and read of
all men: |
2 Ye are our Epistle written in
our hearts, knowen and read of all men. |
3:3 |
3 and maad opyn, for ye ben the
pistle of Crist mynystrid of vs, and writun, not with enke, but bi the spirit
of the lyuynge God; not in stony tablis, but in fleischli tablis of herte. |
3 in that ye are known, how that
ye are the pistel of Christ, ministered by us and written, not with ink: but
with the spirit of the living God, not in tables of stone, but in fleshly
tables of the heart. |
3 in that ye are knowen how that
ye are the pistle of Christ ministred by vs and written not with ynke: but
with the sprete of the livynge God not in tables of stone but in flesshly
tables of ye herte. |
3 in that ye are knowne, how
that ye are ye epistle of Christ, mynistred by vs, and wrytte, not with ynke,
but with the sprete of the lyuynge God: not in tables of stone, but in fleshy
tables of the hert. |
3 In that yee are manifest, to
be the Epistle of Christ, ministred by vs, and written, not with yncke, but
with the Spirite of the liuing God, not in tables of stone, but in fleshly
tables of the heart. |
3
Forasmuche as ye declare that ye are the epistle of Christ ministred by vs,
and written, not with ynke, but with the spirite of the lyuyng God, not in
tables of stone, but in fleshly tables of the heart. |
3 Forasmuch as yee are
manifestly declared to be the Epistle of Christ ministred by vs, written not
with inke, but with the spirit of the liuing God, not in tables of stone, but
in fleshy tables of the heart. |
3:4 |
4 For we han such trist bi Crist
to God; |
4 Such trust have we thorow
Christ to Godward, |
4 Suche trust have we thorow
Christ to god ward |
4 Soch trust haue we thorow
Christ to God warde, |
4 And such trust haue we through
Christ to God: |
4 Such trust haue
we through Christe to Godwarde. |
4 And such trust haue wee
through Christ to Godward: |
3:5 |
5 not that we ben sufficient to
thenke ony thing of vs, as of vs, but oure sufficience is of God. |
5 not that we are sufficient of
ourselves to think any thing as it were of ourselves: but our ableness cometh
of God, |
5 not that we are sufficient of
oure selves to thinke enythinge as it were of oure selves: but oure ablenes
cometh of God |
5 not that we are sufficient of
oure selues to thynke eny thinge, as of oure selues, but oure ablenesse
commeth of God, |
5 Not that we are sufficient of
our selues, to thinke any thing, as of our selues: but our sufficiencie is of
God, |
5
Not that we are sufficiet of our selues to thynke any thyng as of our selues:
but our ablenesse is of God, |
5 Not that wee are sufficient of
our selues to thinke any thing as of our selues: but our sufficiencie is of
God: |
3:6 |
6 Which also made vs able
mynystris of the newe testament, not bi lettre, but bi spirit; for the lettre
sleeth, but the spirit quykeneth. |
6 which hath made us able to
minister the new testament, not of the letter, but of the spirit: For the
letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life. |
6 which hath made vs able to
minister the newe testamet not of the letter but of the sprete. For the
letter kylleth but the sprete geveth lyfe. |
6 which hath made vs able, to be
mynisters of the new Testament: not of the letter, but of the sprete. For the
letter kylleth, but the sprete geueth life. |
6 Who also hath made vs able
ministers of the Newe testament, not of the letter, but of the Spirite: for
the letter killeth, but the Spirite giueth life. |
6
Which hath made vs able ministers of the newe testament, not of the letter,
but of the spirite: For the letter kylleth, but the spirite geueth lyfe. |
6 Who also hath made vs able
ministers of the New Testament, not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the
letter killeth, but the spirit giueth life. {giveth life: or, quickeneth} |
3:7 |
7 And if the mynystracioun of
deth write bi lettris in stoonys was in glorie, so that the children of
Israel myyten not biholde in to the face of Moises, for the glorie of his
cheer, which is auoidid, |
7 ¶ If the ministration of death
thorow the letters figured in stones was glorious, so that the children of
Israel could not behold the face of Moses for the glory of countenance (which
glory nevertheless is done away) |
7 Yf the ministracion of deeth
thorow the letters figured in stones was glorious so yt the chyldren of
Israel coulde not beholde the face of Moses for the glory of his countenauce
(which glory neverthelesse is done awaye) |
7 But yf the mynistracion yt
kylleth thorow the letter, and was figured in stones, was glorious, so that
the childre of Israel mighte not beholde the face of Moses, for ye clearnesse
of his countenauce, (which glory neuertheles is done awaye) |
7 If then the ministration of
death written with letters and ingrauen in stones, was glorious, so that the
children of Israel coulde not beholde the face of Moses, for the glorie of
his countenance (which glorie is done away.) |
7
Yf the ministration of death, through the letters figured in stones, was in
glorie, so that the chyldren of Israel coulde not beholde the face of Moyses,
for the glorie of his countenaunce, whiche [glorie] is done away: |
7 But if the ministration of
death written, and ingrauen in stones, was glorious, so that the children of
Israel could not stedfastly beholde the face of Moses, for the glory of his
countenance, which glorie was to be done away: |
3:8 |
8 hou schal not the
mynystracioun of the spirit be more in glorie? |
8 why shall not the ministration
of the spirit be much more glorious? |
8 why shall not the ministracion
of the sprete be moche more glorious? |
8 how shal not ye mynistracion
of ye sprete be moch more glorious? |
8 Howe shall not the
ministration of the Spirite be more glorious? |
8
Howe shall not the ministration of the spirite be much more in glorie? |
8 How shall not the ministration
of the spirit, be rather glorious? |
3:9 |
9 For if the mynystracioun of
dampnacioun was in glorie, myche more the mynysterie of riytwisnesse is
plenteuouse in glorie. |
9 For if the ministering of
condemnation be glorious: much more doth the administration of righteousness
exceed in glory. |
9 For if ye ministringe of
condempnacio beglorious: moche more do the the ministracion of rightewesnes
excede in glory. |
9 For yf the office that
preacheth damnacion be glorious, moch more doth the office that preacheth
righteousnes exceade in glory. |
9 For if the ministerie of
condemnation was glorious, much more doeth the ministration of righteousnesse
exceede in glorie. |
9
For yf the ministration of condempnation be glorie: much more doth the
ministration of ryghteousnes exceede in glorie. |
9 For if the ministration of
condemnation bee glory, much more doth the ministration of righteousnesse
exceed in glorie. |
3:10 |
10 For nether that that was
cleer was glorified in this part for the excellent glorie; and if that that
is auoidid, |
10 For no doubt that which was
there glorified is not once glorified in respect of this exceeding glory. |
10 For no dout that which was
there glorified is not once glorified in respecte of this excedynge glory. |
10 For ye other parte that was
glorified is nothinge glorified in respecte of this exceadinge glory. |
10 For euen that which was
glorified, was not glorified in this point, that is, as touching the
exceeding glorie. |
10
For euen that which was glorified, is not glorified in respect of this
exceedyng glorie. |
10 For euen that which was made
glorious, had no glorie in this respect by reason of the glorie that
excelleth. |
3:11 |
11 was bi glorie, myche more
that that dwellith stille is in glorie. |
11 Then if that which is
destroyed was glorious, much more shall that which remaineth be glorious. |
11 Then if that which is
destroyed was glorious moche more shall that which remayneth be glorious. |
11 For yf that which is done
awaye, be glorious, moch more shal yt which remayneth, be glorious. |
11 For if that which should be
abolished, was glorious, much more shall that which remaineth, be glorious. |
11
For yf that whiche is destroyed was glorious, much more that which remayneth
is glorious. |
11 For if that which is done
away, was glorious, much more that which remaineth is glorious. |
3:12 |
12 Therfor we that han suche
hope, vsen myche trist; |
12 ¶ Seeing then that we have
such trust we use great boldness, |
12 Seynge then that we have
soche trust we vse gret boldnes |
12 Seynge then that we haue soch
trust, we vse greate boldnesse, |
12 Seeing then that we haue such
trust, we vse great boldnesse of speach. |
12
Seyng then that we haue such truste, we vse great boldnesse: |
12 Seeing then that wee haue
such hope, we vse great plainnesse of speech. {plainness: or, boldness} |
3:13 |
13 and not as Moises leide a
veil on his face, that the children of Israel schulden not biholde in to his
face, which veil is auoidid. |
13 and do not as Moses, which
put a veil over his face that the children of Israell should not see for what
purpose that served which is put away. |
13 and do not as Moses which put
a vayle over his face that the children of Israel shuld not se for what
purpose that served which is put awaye. |
13 and do not as Moses, which
put a vayle before his face, so that ye children of Israel mighte not se the
ende of it, that is done awaye. |
13 And we are not as Moses,
which put a vaile vpon his face, that the children of Israel should not looke
vnto the ende of that which should be abolished. |
13
And not as Moyses, which put a vayle ouer his face, that the chyldren of
Israel shoulde not see for what purpose that serued which is put away. |
13 And not as Moses, which put a
vaile ouer his face, that the children of Israel could not stedfastly looke
to the end of that which is abolished; |
3:14 |
14 But the wittis of hem ben
astonyed; for in to this dai the same veil in reding of the olde testament
dwellith not schewid, for it is auoidid in Crist, but in to this dai, |
14 But their minds were blinded.
For until this day remaineth the same covering untaken away in the old
testament when they read it, which in Christ is put away: |
14 But their myndes were
blinded. For untill this daye remayneth the same coveringe vntake awaye in
the olde testamet when they reade it which in Christ is put awaye. |
14 But their myndes are blynded.
For vnto this daye remayneth the same coueringe vntake awaye in the olde
Testament, whan they rede it, which in Christ is put awaye. |
14 Therefore their mindes are
hardened: for vntill this day remaineth the same couering vntaken away in the
reading of the olde Testament, which vaile in Christ is put away. |
14
But their myndes were blynded: For vntyll this day remayneth the same
coueryng vntaken away in the reading of the olde testament, which [vayle] is
put away in Christe. |
14 But their mindes were
blinded: for vntill this day remaineth the same vaile vntaken away, in the
reading of the old testament: which vaile is done away in Christ. |
3:15 |
15 whanne Moises is red, the
veil is put on her hertis. |
15 But even unto this day, when
Moses is read the veil hangeth before their hearts. |
15 But even vnto this daye when
Moses is redde ye vayle hangeth before their hertes. |
15 But euen vnto this daye whan
moses is red, the vayle hangeth before their hertes: |
15 But euen vnto this day, whe
Moses is read, the vaile is laid ouer their hearts. |
15
But euen vnto this day when Moyses is read, the vayle is layde vppon their
heart. |
15 But euen vnto this day, when
Moses is read, the vaile is vpon their heart. |
3:16 |
16 But whanne Israel schal be
conuertid to God, the veil schal be don awei. |
16 Nevertheless when they turn
to the lord, the veil shall be taken away. |
16 Neverthelesse when they
tourne to ye Lorde the vayle shalbe taken awaye. |
16 Neuertheles wha they turne to
the LORDE, the vayle shalbe taken awaye. |
16 Neuertheles when their heart
shall be turned to the Lord, the vaile shalbe taken away. |
16
Neuerthelesse, when it shall turne to the Lorde, the vayle shalbe taken
away. |
16 Neuerthelesse, when it shall
turne to the Lord, the vaile shall be taken away. |
3:17 |
17 And the spirit is the Lord;
and where the spirit of the Lord is, there is fredom. |
17 The lord no doubt is a
spirit. And where the spirit of the lord is, there is liberty. |
17 The Lorde no dout is a
sprete. And where the sprete of the Lorde is there is libertie. |
17 For the LORDE is a sprete:
& where the sprete of the LORDE is, there is libertye. |
17 Nowe the Lord is the Spirite,
and where the Spirite of the Lord is, there is libertie. |
17
The Lorde is a spirite: And where the spirite of the Lorde [is] there [is]
libertie. |
17 Now the Lord is that spirit,
and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is libertie. |
3:18 |
18 And alle we that with open
face seen the glorie of the Lord, ben transformed in to the same ymage, fro
clerenesse in to clerenesse, as of the spirit of the Lord. |
18 And now the lordi's glory
appeareth in us all, as in a glass: and we are changed unto the same
similitude, from glory to glory, even of the lord which is a spirit. |
18 But we all beholde the glorye
of the Lorde with his face open and are chaunged vnto the same similitude
from glory to glory even of the sprite of the Lorde. |
18 But now the glory of ye LORDE
apeareth in vs all with open face, and we are chaunged into the same ymage,
from one clearnes to another, eue as of the sprete of the LORDE. |
18 But we al behold as in a
mirrour the glory of the Lord with open face, and are changed into the same
image, from glorie to glorie, as by the Spirit of the Lord. |
18
But we all behold [as] in a mirrour, the glorie of the Lorde, with his face
open, and are chaunged vnto the same similitude, from glorie to glorie, euen
as of the spirite of the Lorde. |
18 But we all, with open face
beholding as in a glasse the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same
image, from glorie to glorie, euen as by the spirit of the Lord. {by the…:

4:1 |
1 Therfor we that han this
admynystracioun, aftir this that we han getun merci, |
1 ¶ Therefore seeing that we
have such an office, even as mercy is come on us, we faint not: |
1 Therfore seinge that we have
soche an office eve as mercy is come on vs we faynte not: |
1 Therfore seynge we haue soch
an office (euen as mercy is come vpon vs) we faynte not, |
1 Therefore, seeing that we haue
this ministerie, as we haue receiued mercy, we faint not: |
1
Therfore, seyng that we haue such a ministerie, as we haue receaued mercie,
we faynt not: |
1 Therefore, seeing we haue this
ministery, as we haue receiued mercie wee faint not: |
4:2 |
2 faile we not, but do we awei
the preue thingis of schame, not walkinge in sutil gile, nether doynge
auoutrye bi the word of God, but in schewynge of the treuthe comendynge vs
silf to ech conscience of men bifor God. |
2 but have cast from us the
cloaks of unhonesty, and walk not in craftiness, neither corrupt we the word
of God: but walk in open truth, and report ourselves to every man's
conscience in the sight of God. |
2 but have cast from vs the
clokes of vnhonestie and walke not in craftines nether corrupte we the worde
of God: but walke in open trueth and reporte oure selves to every mannes
conscience in the sight of God. |
2 but cast from vs the clokes of
vnhonestye, and walke not in craftines: nether corruppe we the worde of God
but open the trueth, and reporte oure selues to euery mans conscyence in the
sighte of God. |
2 But haue cast from vs ye
clokes of shame, and walke not in craftines, neither handle we the worde of
God deceitfully: but in declaration of the trueth we approue our selues to
euery mans conscience in the sight of God. |
2
But haue cast from vs the clokes of vnhonestie, and walke not in craftynesse,
neither handle we the word of God disceitefully, but in openyng of the
trueth, and report our selues to euery mans conscience in the syght of God. |
2 But haue renounced the hidden
things of dishonesty, not walking in craftines, nor handling the word of God
deceitfully, but by manifestation of the trueth, commending our selues to
euery mans conscience, in the sight of God. {dishonesty: Gr. shame} |

3 For if also oure gospel is
kyuerid, in these that perischen it is kyuerid; |
3 ¶ If our gospel be yet hid, it
is hid among them that are lost, |
3 Yf oure Gospell be yet hyd it
is hid amoge them that are lost |
3 Yf oure Gospell be yet hyd, it
is hyd in them that are lost: |
3 If our Gospell bee then hid,
it is hid to them that are lost. |
3 Yf
our Gospell be yet hyd, it is hyd in them that are lost: |
3 But if our Gospel be hid, it
is hid to them that are lost: |
4:4 |
4 in which God hath blent the

4 in whom the God of this world
hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest should shine unto them
the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, which is the image of God, |

4 In whom the God of this world
hath blinded the minds of them which beleeue not, lest the light of the

4:5 |
5 But we prechen not vs silf,
but oure Lord Jhesu Crist; and vs youre seruauntis bi Jhesu. |
5 for we preach not ourselves,
but Christ Iesus the lord, and preach ourselves your servants for Iesus'
sake. |
5 For we preache not oure selves
but Christ Iesus to be the Lorde and oure selves youre servautes for Iesus
sake. |
5 For we preach not or selues,
but Iesus Christ to be the LORDE, and oure selues youre seruauntes for Iesus
sake. |
5 For we preach not our selues,
but Christ Iesus the Lord, and our selues your seruaunts for Iesus sake. |
5
For we preache not our selues, but Christe Iesus the Lord, and our selues
your seruauntes for Iesus sake. |
5 For we preach not our selues,
but Christ Iesus the Lord, and our selues your seruants for Iesus sake. |
4:6 |
6 For God, that seide liyt to
schyne of derknessis, he hath youe liyt in oure hertis, to the liytnyng of
the science of the clerenesse of God, in the face of Jhesu Crist. |
6 For it is God that commanded
the light to shine out of darkness, which hath shined in our hearts, for to
give the light of knowledge of the glorious God, in the face of Iesus Christ. |
6 For it is God that commauded
the light to shyne out of darcknes which hath shyned in oure hertes for to
geve the light of the knowledge of the glorie of God in the face of Iesus
Christ. |
6 For God that comaunded the
light to shyne out of darcknesse, hath geuen a cleare shyne in oure hertes,
yt by vs ye light of ye knowlege of the glory of God mighte come forth, in
the face of Iesus Christ. |
6 For God that commanded the
light to shine out of darknesse, is he which hath shined in our hearts, to
giue the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Iesus
Christ. |
6
For it is God that commaundeth the lyght to shine out of darknesse, whiche
hath shined in our heartes, for to geue the lyght of the knowledge of the
glorie of God, in the face of Iesus Christe. |
6 For God who commaunded the
light to shine out of darkenes, hath shined in our hearts, to giue the light
of the knowledge of the glory of God, in the face of Iesus Christ. {hath: Gr.

4:7 |
7 And we han this tresour in
britil vessels, that the worthinesse be of Goddis vertu, and not of vs. |
7 ¶ But we have this treasure in
earthen vessels that the excellent power of it might appear to be of God, and
not of us. |
7 But we have this treasure in
erthe vessels that ye excellent power of it myght appere to be of God and not
of vs. |
7 But this treasure haue we in
earthen vessels, that ye power which excelleth might be of God, and not of
vs. |
7 But we haue this treasure in
earthen vessels, that the excellencie of that power might be of God, and not
of vs. |
7
But we haue this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellencie of the
power be Gods, and not ours. |
7 But we haue this treasure in
earthen vessels, that the excellencie of the power may be of God, and not of
vs. |
4:8 |
8 In alle thingis we suffren
tribulacioun, but we ben not angwischid, or annoyed; we ben maad pore, but
`we lacken nothing; we suffren persecucioun, |
8 We are troubled on every side,
yet are we not without shift. We are in poverty: but not utterly without
somewhat. |
8 We are troubled on every side
yet are we not with out shyft. We are in povertie: but not vtterly without
somwhat. |
8 We are troubled on euery syde,
yet are we not without shift. We are in pouertie, but not vtterly without
somwhat. |
8 Wee are afflicted on euery
side, yet are we not in distresse: we are in doubt, but yet wee despaire not. |
8
We are troubled on euery syde, yet are we not without shyft. We are in
pouertie, but not vtterly without somewhat. |
8 Wee are troubled on euery
side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despaire, {in despair:
or, altogether without help, or, means} |
4:9 |
9 but we ben not forsakun; we
ben maad lowe, but we ben not confoundid; we ben cast doun, but we perischen
not. |
9 We are persecuted: but are not
forsaken. We are cast down: nevertheless we perish not. |
9 We are persecuted: but are not
forsake. We are cast doune: neverthelesse we perisshe not. |
9 We are persecuted, but we are
not forsaken. We are oppressed, neuertheles we perish not. |
9 We are persecuted, but not
forsaken: cast downe, but we perish not. |
9
We suffer persecution, but are not forsaken therin. We are cast downe, but we
perisshe not. |
9 Persecuted, but not forsaken;
cast downe, but not destroyed. |
4:10 |
10 And euere more we beren
aboute the sleyng of Jhesu in oure bodi, that also the lijf of Jhesu be
schewid in oure bodies. |
10 And we always bear in our
bodies the dying of the lord Iesus, that the life of Iesu might appear in our
bodies. |
10 And we all wayes beare in
oure bodyes the dyinge of the Lorde Iesus that the lyfe of Iesu myght appere
in oure bodyes. |
10 We allwayes beare aboute in
oure body the dyenge of the LORDE Iesus yt the life also of the LORDE Iesus
might appeare in oure body. |
10 Euery where we beare about in
our bodie the dying of the Lord Iesus, that the life of Iesus might also be
made manifest in our bodies. |
10
We alwayes beare about in the body the dying of the Lorde Iesus, that the
lyfe of Iesus myght also appeare in our bodie. |
10 Alwayes bearing about in the
body, the dying of the Lord Iesus, that the life also of Iesus might bee made
manifest in our body. |
4:11 |
11 For euere more we that lyuen,
ben takun in to deth for Jhesu, that the lijf of Jhesu be schewid in oure
deedli fleisch. |
11 For we which live, are always
delivered unto death for Iesus' sake, that the life also of Iesu might appear
in our mortal flesh. |
11 For we which live are alwayes
delyvered vnto deeth for Iesus sake yt the lyfe also of Iesu myght appere in
oure mortall flesshe. |
11 For we which lyue, are
alwayes delyuered vnto death for Iesus sake, that the life also of Iesus
might appeare in oure mortall flesh. |
11 For we which liue, are
alwaies deliuered vnto death for Iesus sake, that the life also of Iesus
might be made manifest in our mortal flesh. |
11
For we which lyue, are alwayes deliuered vnto death for Iesus sake, that the
lyfe also of Iesu myght appeare in our mortall flesshe. |
11 For we which liue, are always
deliuered vnto death for Iesus sake, that the life also of Iesus might bee
made manifest in our mortall flesh. |
4:12 |
12 Therfor deth worchith in vs,
but lijf worchith in you. |
12 So then death worketh in us,
and life in you. |
12 So then deeth worketh in vs
and lyfe in you. |
12 Therfore is death now mightie
in vs, but life in you. |
12 So then death worketh in vs,
and life in you. |
12 So then, death
worketh in vs, but life in you. |
12 So then death worketh in vs,
but life in you. |
4:13 |
13 And we han the same spirit of
feith, as it is writun, Y haue bileuyd, Y haue spoke; and we bileuen, wherfor
also we speken; |
13 Seeing then that we have the
same spirit of faith, according as it is written (i believed and therefore
have i spoken) we also believe, and therefore speak. |
13 Seynge then yt we have ye
same sprete of fayth accordinge as it is writte: I beleved and therfore have
I spoken. We also beleve and therfore speake. |
13 But seynge that we haue the
same sprete of faith (acordinge as it is wrytten: I beleued, and therfore
haue I spoke.) we also beleue, & therfore we speake, |
13 And because we haue the same
spirite of faith, according as it is written, I beleeued, and therefore haue
I spoken, we also beleeue, and therefore speake, |
13
Seing then that we haue the same spirite of fayth (accordyng as it is
written, I beleued, and therefore haue I spoken) We also beleue, and
therefore speake. |
13 We hauing the same spirit of
faith, according as it is written, I beleeued, and therefore haue I spoken:
wee also beleeue, and therefore speake. |
4:14 |
14 witynge that he that reiside
Jhesu, schal reise also vs with Jhesu, and schal ordeyne with you. |
14 For we know that he which
raised up the lord Iesus, shall raise up us also by the means of Iesus, and
shall set us with you, |
14 For we knowe that he which
raysed vp the Lorde Iesus shall rayse vp vs also by the meanes of Iesus and
shall seet vs with you. |
14 for we knowe that he, which
raysed vp ye LORDE Iesus, shal rayse vs vp also by ye meanes of Iesus, and
shal set vs with you. |
14 Knowing that he which hath
raised vp the Lord Iesus, shall raise vs vp also by Iesus, and shall set vs
with you. |
14
For we knowe, that he which raysed vp the Lorde Iesus, shall rayse vp vs also
by the meanes of Iesus, and shall set vs with you. |
14 Knowing that hee which raised
vp the Lord Iesus, shall raise vp vs also by Iesus, and shall present vs with
you. |
4:15 |
15 And alle thingis for you,
that a plenteuouse grace bi many thankyngis be plenteuouse in to the glorie
of God. |
15 for all things i do for your
sakes, that the plenteous grace by thanks given of many, may redound to the
praise of God. |
15 For all thinges do I for
youre sakes that the plenteous grace by thankes geve of many maye redounde to
the prayse of god. |
15 For all thinges do I for
youre sakes, that the pleteous grace by the thakesgeuynge of many, maye
redounde to the prayse of God. |
15 For all thinges are for your
sakes, that that most plenteous grace by the thankesgiuing of many, may
redound to the praise of God. |
15
For all thynges [do I] for your [sakes,] that the plenteous grace, by thankes
geuyng of many, may redounde to the prayse of God. |
15 For all things are for your
sakes, that the abundat grace might, through the thankesgiuing of many,
redound to the glory of God. |
4:16 |
16 For which thing we failen
not, for thouy oure vtter man be corruptid; netheles the ynner man is renewid
fro dai to dai. |
16 ¶ Wherefore we are not
wearied, but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day
by day. |
16 Wherfore we are not weried
but though oure vttward man perisshe yet the inwarde man is renewed daye by
daye. |
16 Therfore are we not weery,
but though or outwarde man be corrupte, yet the inwarde is renewed daye by
daye. |
16 Therefore we faint not, but
though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed daily. |
16
Wherefore we are not weryed: But though our outwarde man perishe, yet the
inwarde man is renued day by day. |
16 For which cause we faint not,
but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day. |
4:17 |
17 But that liyt thing of oure
tribulacioun that lastith now, but as it were by a moment, worchith in vs
ouer mesure an euerlastynge birthin in to the heiynesse of glorie; |
17 For our exceeding
tribulation, which is momentary and light, prepareth an exceeding, and
eternal weight of glory unto us, |
17 For oure excedinge
tribulacion which is momentany and light prepareth an excedinge and an
eternall wayght of glorye |
17 For oure trouble, which is
but temporall and lighte, worketh an exceadinge and an eternall weighte of
glorye |
17 For our light affliction
which is but for a moment, causeth vnto vs a farre most excellent and an
eternall waight of glorie: |
17
For our exceedyng tribulation which is momentanie & lyght, prepareth an
exceedyng and an eternall wayght of glorie vnto vs. |
17 For our light affliction,
which is but for a momet, worketh for vs a farre more exceeding and eternall
waight of glory, |
4:18 |
18 while that we biholden not
tho thingis that ben seyn, but tho that ben not seyn. For tho thingis that
ben seyn, ben but durynge for a schort tyme; but tho thingis that ben not
seyn, ben euerlastynge. |
18 while we look not on the
things which are seen, but on the things which are not seen. For things which
are seen, are temporal: but things which are not seen are eternal. |
18 vnto vs whill we loke not on
the thynges which are sene but on ye thynges which are not sene. For thinges
which are sene are temporall: but thynges which are not sene are eternall |
18 vnto vs, which loke not on
the thinges that are sene, but on them which are not sene. For ye thinges
which are sene, are temporall: but the thinges that are not sene, are
eternall. |
18 While we looke not on the
thinges which are seene, but on the things which are not seene: for the
things which are seene, are temporall: but the things which are not seene,
are eternall. |
18
Whyle we loke not on the thynges whiche are seene, but on the thynges which
are not seene. For the thynges which are seene, are temporall: but the things
which are not seene, are eternal. |
18 While we looke not at the
things which are seene, but at ye things which are not seene: for the things
which are seene, are temporall, but the things which are not seene, are
eternall. |
5:1 |
1 And we witen, that if oure
ertheli hous of this dwellynge be dissoluyd, that we han a bildyng of God, an
hous not maad bi hondis, euerlastynge in heuenes. |
1 ¶ We know surely if our earthy
mansion wherein we now dwell were destroyed, that we have a building ordained
of God, an habitation not made with hands, but eternal in heaven: |
1 We knowe suerly yf oure erthy
mancion wherin we now dwell were destroyed that we have a bildinge ordeyned
of god an habitacion not made with hondes but eternall in heve. |
1 We knowe surely, yt yf oure
earthy house of this dwellynge were destroyed, we haue a buyldynge ordeyned
of God, an house not made with handes, but euerlastynge in heauen. |
1 For we knowe that if our
earthly house of this tabernacle be destroyed, we haue a building giuen of
God, that is, an house not made with handes, but eternall in the heauens. |
1
For we knowe, that yf our earthly house of [this] tabernacle were destroyed,
we haue a building of God, an habitation not made with handes, but eternall
in heauen. |
1 For we know, that if our
earthly house of this Tabernacle were dissolued, wee haue a building of God,
an house not made with hand, eternall in the heauens. |
5:2 |
2 For whi in this thing we
mornen, coueitynge to be clothid aboue with oure dwellyng, which is of
heuene; if netheles we ben foundun clothid, |
2 And herefore sigh we, desiring
to be clothed with our mansion which is from heaven: |
2 And herefore sigh we desyringe
to be clothed wt oure mansion which is from heven: |
2 And in the same sighe we also
after oure masion, which is from heauen: |
2 For therefore we sighe,
desiring to be clothed with our house, which is from heauen. |
2
For therfore sygh we, desiryng to be clothed with our house whiche is from
heauen: |
2 For in this we grone
earnestly, desiring to be clothed vpon with our house, which is from heauen. |
5:3 |
3 and not nakid. |
3 if it happen that we be found
clothed, and not naked. |
3 so yet if that we be founde
clothed and not naked. |
3 and longe to be clothed
therwith, so yet, yf that we be founde clothed, and not naked. |
3 Because that if we be clothed,
we shall not be found naked. |
3 So yet, yf
that we be founde clothed, and not naked. |
3 If so be that being clothed we
shal not be found naked. |
5:4 |
4 For whi and we that ben in
this tabernacle, sorewen with ynne, and ben heuyed, for that we wolen not be
spuylid, but be clothid aboue; that the ilke thing that is deedli, be sopun
vp of lijf. |
4 For as long as we are in this
tabernacle, we sigh and are grieved: for we would not be unclothed: but would
be clothed upon, that mortality might be swallowed up of life. |
4 For as longe as we are in this
tabernacle we sigh and are greved for we wold not be vnclothed but wolde be
clothed apon that mortalite myght be swalowed vp of lyfe. |
4 For as longe as we are in this
tabernacle, we sighe and are greued, for we had rather not be vnclothed, but
to be clothed vpon, that mortalite might be swalowed vp of life. |
4 For in deede we that are in
this tabernacle, sigh and are burdened, because we would not be vnclothed,
but would be clothed vpon, that mortalitie might be swalowed vp of life. |
4
For we that are in this tabernacle sigh, & being burdened because we
would not be vnclothed, but would be clothed vpo, that mortalitie might be
swalowed vp of lyfe. |
4 For, we that are in this
tabernacle, doe grone, being burdened, not for that wee would bee vnclothed,
but clothed vpon, that mortalitie might bee swallowed vp of life. |
5:5 |
5 But who is it that makith vs
in to this same thing? God, that yaf to vs the ernes of the spirit. |
5 He that hath ordained us for
this thing, is God: which very same hath given unto us the earnest of the
spirit. |
5 He that hath ordeyned vs for
this thynge ys god which very same hath geven vnto vs the ernest of the
sprete. |
5 But he that hath ordeyned vs
for this, is God, which hath geuen vs the earnest of the sprete. |
5 And he that hath created vs
for this thing, is God, who also hath giuen vnto vs the earnest of the
Spirit. |

He that hath ordeyned vs for this thyng [is] God, which hath also geuen vnto
vs the earnest of the spirite. |
5 Now he that hath wrought vs
for the selfe same thing, is God, who also hath giuen vnto vs the earnest of
the spirit. |
5:6 |
6 Therfor we ben hardi algatis,
and witen that the while we ben in this bodi, we goen in pilgrymage fro the
Lord; |
6 ¶ We are alway of good cheer,
and know well that as long as we are at home in the body we are absent from
God. |
6 Therfore we are alwaye of good
chere and knowe well that as longe as we are at home in the body we are
absent from God. |
6 Therfore are we allwaye of
good cheare, and knowe, that as longe as we dwell here in the body, we are
not at home with the LORDE: |
6 Therefore we are alway bolde,
though we knowe that whiles we are at home in the bodie, we are absent from
the Lord. |
6
Therfore we are alway of good cheare, and knowe, that as long as we are at
home in the body, we are absent from the Lorde. |
6 Therefore we are alwayes
confident, knowing that whilest wee are at home in the body, wee are absent
from the Lord. |
5:7 |
7 for we walken bi feith, and
not bi cleer siyt. |
7 For we walk in faith and see
not. |
7 For we walke in fayth and se
not. |
7 for we walke in faith, and se
him not. |
7 (For we walke by faith, and
not by sight.) |
7 (For we
walke by fayth, not after outwarde appearaunce.) |
7 (For we walke by faith, not by
sight.) |
5:8 |
8 But we ben hardi, and han good
wille, more to be in pilgrymage fro the bodi, and to be present to God. |
8 Nevertheless we are of good
comfort, and had lever to be absent from the body and to be present with God. |
8 Neverthelesse we are of good
comforte and had lever to be absent from the body and to be present with the
lorde. |
8 Neuertheles we are of good
comforte, and had leuer to be absent from the body, & to be at home with
the LORDE. |
8 Neuerthelesse, we are bolde,
and loue rather to remoue out of the body, and to dwell with the Lord. |
8
Neuerthelesse, we are of good comfort, and had rather to be absent from the
body, and to be present with the Lorde. |
8 We are confident, I say, and
willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord. |
5:9 |
9 And therfor we stryuen,
whether absent, whether present, to plese hym. |
9 Wherefore we endeavor
ourselves, wether we be at home or from home, to please God. |
9 Wherfore whether we be at home
or from home we endeuoure oure selves to please him. |
9 Wherfore, whether we be at
home or fro home, we endeuoure oure selues to please him. |
9 Wherefore also we couet, that
both dwelling at home, and remouing from home, we may be acceptable to him. |
9
Wherfore, whether we be at home, or from home, we endeuour our selues to be
accepted vnto hym. |
9 Wherefore we labour, that
whether present or absent, we may be accepted of him. {labour: or, endeavour} |
5:10 |
10 For it bihoueth vs alle to be
schewid bifor the trone of Crist, that euery man telle the propre thingis of
the bodi, as he hath don, ethir good, ether yuel. |
10 For we must all be brought
before the judgement seat of Christ that every man may receive the works of
his body according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad? |
10 For we must all appere before
the iudgement seate of Christ that every man maye receave the workes of his
body accordynge to that he hath done whether it be good or bad? |
10 For we must all appeare
before the iudgment seate of Christ, yt euery one maye receaue in his body,
acordinge to yt he hath done, whether it be good or bad. |
10 For we must all appeare
before the iudgement seate of Christ, that euery man may receiue the things
which are done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be
good or euill. |
10
For we must all appeare before the iudgement seate of Christe, that euery man
may receaue the workes of his bodie according to that he hath done, whether
it be good or bad. |
10 For we must all appeare
before the iudgement seat of Christ, that euery one may receiue the things
done in his body, according to that hee hath done, whether it be good or bad. |
5:11 |
11 Therfor we witynge the drede
of the Lord, councelen men, for to God we ben opyn; and Y hope, that we ben
opyn also in youre consciencis. |
11 Seeing then that we know how
the lord is to be feared, we fare fair with men. For we are known well enough
unto God. i trust also that we are known in your consciences. |
11 Seynge then that we knowe how
the lorde is to be feared we fare fayre with men. For we are knowen wel
ynough vnto God. I trust also that we are knowen in youre consciences. |
11 Seynge then that we knowe,
how that the LORDE is to be feared, we fare fayre with men, but we are knowne
well ynough vnto God: I trust also, that we are knowne in youre consciences. |
11 Knowing therefore that
terrour of the Lord, we persuade men, and we are made manifest vnto God, and
I trust also that we are made manifest in your consciences. |
11
Seing then that we knowe the feare of the Lorde, we fare fayre with men: For
we are knowen well enough vnto God. I trust also that we are knowen in your
consciences. |
11 Knowing therefore the terrour
of the Lord, we perswade men; but we are made manifest vnto God, & I
trust also, are made manifest in your consciences. |
5:12 |
12 We comenden not vs silf
eftsoone to you, but we yyuen to you occasioun to haue glorie for vs, that ye
haue to hem that glorien in the face, and not in the herte. |
12 ¶ We praise not ourselves
again unto you, but give you an occasion to rejoice of us, that ye may have
somewhat against them, which rejoice in the face, and not in the heart. |
12 We prayse not oure selves
agayne vnto you but geve you an occasion to reioyce of vs that ye maye have
some what agaynst the whych reioyce in the face and not in the hert. |
12 We prayse not oure selues
agayne vnto you, but geue you an occasion to reioyse of vs, yt ye maye haue
to reioyse agaynst them, which reioyse after the outwarde appearaunce, and
not after the hert. |
12 For we prayse not our selues
againe vnto you, but giue you an occasion to reioyce of vs, that ye may haue
to answere against them, which reioyce in the face, and not in the heart. |
12
For we prayse not our selues agayne vnto you, but geue you an occasion to
reioyce of vs, that ye may haue somwhat agaynst them which reioyce in the
face, and not in the heart. |
12 For we commend not our selues
againe vnto you, but giue you occasion to glory on our behalfe, that you may
haue somewhat to answere them, which glory in appearance, and not in heart.
{in appearance: Gr. in the face} |
5:13 |
13 For ethir we bi mynde passen
to God, ether we ben sobre to you. |
13 For if we be too fervent, to
God are we to fervent: if we keep measure, for your cause keep we measure. |
13 For yf we be to fervent to
God are we to fervent. Yf we kepe measure for youre cause kepe we measure. |
13 For yf we do to moch, we do
it vnto God: yf we kepe measure,we do it for youre sakes. |
13 For whether we be out of our
wit, we are it to God: or whether we be in our right minde, we are it vnto
you. |
13
For yf we be to feruent, to God are we to feruent: Or yf we kepe measure, for
your cause kepe we measure. |
13 For whether wee bee besides
our selues, it is to God: or whether we bee sober, it is for your cause. |
5:14 |
14 For the charite of Crist
dryueth vs; gessynge this thing, that if oon died for alle, thanne alle weren
deed. |
14 For the love of Christ
constraineth us, because we thus judge, if one be dead for all, that then are
all dead, |
14 For the love of Christ
costrayneth vs be cause we thus iudge yf one be deed for all yt then are all
deed |
14 For the loue of Christ
constrayneth vs, in as moch as we thus iudge, that yf one be deed for all,
then are all deed. |
14 For that loue of Christ
constraineth vs, |
14
For the loue of Christe constrayneth vs, because we thus iudge, that yf one
dyed for all, then were all dead. |
14 For the loue of Christ
constreineth vs, because wee thus iudge: that if one died for all, then were
all dead: |
5:15 |
15 And Crist diede for alle,
that thei that lyuen, lyue not now to hem silf, but to hym that diede for
hem, and roos ayen. |
15 and that he died for all,
because that they which live, should not henceforth live unto themselves: but
unto him which died for them and rose again. |
15 and that he dyed for all that
they which live shuld not hence forth live vnto them selves but vnto hym
whith died for them and rose agayne. |
15 And therfore dyed he for all,
that they which lyue, shulde not hence forth lyue vnto them selues, but vnto
him, which dyed for them and rose agayne. |
15 Because we thus iudge, that
if one be dead for all, then were all dead, and he died for all, that they
which liue, shoulde not henceforth liue vnto themselues, but vnto him which
died for them, and rose againe. |
15
And he dyed for all, that they which lyue, shoulde not hencefoorth lyue vnto
them selues, but vnto hym which dyed for them, and rose agayne. |
15 And that he died for all,
that they which liue, should not hencefoorth liue vnto themselues, but vnto
him which died for them, and rose againe. |
5:16 |
16 Therfor we fro this tyme
knowen no man aftir the fleische; thouy we knowun Crist aftir the fleisch,
but nowe we knowun not. |
16 ¶ Wherefore henceforth know
we no man after the flesh. Insomuch that though we have known Christ after
the flesh, now henceforth know we him so no more. |
16 Wherfore henceforth knowe we
no man after the flesshe. In somoche though we have knowe Christ after the
flesshe now hence forthe knowe we hym so no more. |
16 Therfore hence forth knowe we
noman after ye flesh: and though we haue knowne Christ also after the flesh,
yet knowe we him now so nomore. |
16 Wherefore, henceforth know we
no man after the flesh, yea though wee had knowen Christ after the flesh, yet
nowe henceforth know we him no more. |
16
Wherefore hencefoorth knowe we no man after the flesshe: Insomuche, though we
haue knowen Christe after the flesshe, nowe yet hencefoorth knowe we hym so
no more. |
16 Wherefore hencefoorth know we
no man, after the flesh: yea, though we haue knowen Christ after the flesh,
yet now hencefoorth knowe wee him no more. |
5:17 |
17 Therfor if ony newe creature
is in Crist, the elde thingis ben passid. |
17 Therefore if any man be in
Christ, he is a new creature. Old things are passed away, behold all things
are become new. |
17 Therfore yf eny man be in
Christ he is a newe creature. Olde thynges are passed awaye beholde all
thinges are be come newe. |
17 Therfore yf eny man be in
Christ, he is a new creature. Olde thinges are past awaye, beholde, all are
become new. |
17 Therefore if any man be in
Christ, let him be a newe creature. Olde things are passed away: beholde, all
things are become newe. |
17
Therfore yf any man be in Christe, he is a newe creature. Olde thynges are
passed awaye, beholde all thynges are become newe. |
17 Therfore if any man be in
Christ, hee is a new creature: old things are past away, behold, al things
are become new. {he is: or, let him be} |
5:18 |
18 And lo! alle thingis ben of
God, which recounselide vs to hym bi Crist, and yaf to vs the seruyce of
recounselyng. |
18 Nevertheless all things are
of God, which hath reconciled us unto himself by Iesus Christ, and hath given
unto us the office to preach the atonement. |
18 Neverthelesse all thinges are
of god which hath reconciled vs vnto him sylfe by Iesus Christ and hath geven
vnto vs the office to preach the atonement. |
18 Neuertheles all thinges are
off God, which hath reconcyled vs vnto himselfe by Iesus Christ, and hath
geuen vs the office to preach the attonement. |
18 And all things are of God,
which hath reconciled vs vnto himselfe by Iesus Christ, and hath giuen vnto
vs the ministerie of reconciliation. |
18
And all thynges are of God, whiche hath reconciled vs vnto hym selfe by Iesus
Christe, and hath geuen to vs the ministerie of reconciliation. |
18 And all things are of God,
who hath reconciled vs to himselfe by Iesus Christ, and hath giuen to vs the
ministery of reconciliation, |
5:19 |
19 And God was in Crist,
recounselynge to hym the world, not rettynge to hem her giltes, and puttide
in vs the word of recounselyng. |
19 For God was in Christ, and
made agreement between the world and him self, and imputed not their sins
unto them: and hath committed to us the preaching of the atonement. |
19 For god was in Christ and
made agrement bitwene the worlde and hym sylfe and imputed not their synnes
vnto them: and hath comitted to vs the preachynge of ye atonmet. |
19 For God was in Christ, and
reconcyled the worlde vnto himselfe, and counted not ther synnes vnto them,
and amonge vs hath he set vp the worde of ye attonemet. |
19 For God was in Christ, and
reconciled the world to himselfe, not imputing their sinnes vnto them, and
hath committed to vs the word of reconciliation. |
19
For God was in Christe, reconciling the worlde to hym selfe, not imputyng
their sinnes vnto them, and hath committed to vs the preachyng of the
atonement. |
19 To wit, that God was in
Christ, reconciling the world vnto himselfe, not imputing their trespasses
vnto them, and hath committed vnto vs the word of reconciliation.
{committed…: Gr. put in us} |
5:20 |
20 Therfor we vsen message for
Crist, as if God monestith bi vs; we bisechen for Crist, be ye recounselid to
God. |
20 ¶ Now then are we messengers
in the room of Christ: even as though God did beseech you thorow us: So pray
we you in Christe's stead, that ye be at one with God: |
20 Now then are we messengers in
the roume of Christ: even as though God did beseche you thorow vs: So praye
we you in Christes stede that ye be atone with God: |
20 Now the are we messaungers in
the rowme of Christ, euen as though God exhorted by vs. We beseke you now
therfore in Christes steade, that ye be at one with God: |
20 Now then are we ambassadours
for Christ: as though God did beseeche you through vs, we pray you in
Christes steade, that ye be reconciled to God. |
20
Nowe then are we messengers in the rowme of Christe, euen as though God dyd
beseche you through vs. So praye we you in Christes steade, that ye be
reconciled vnto God. |
20 Now then we are Ambassadors
for Christ, as though God did beseech you by vs; we pray you in Christs
stead, that be ye reconciled to God. |
5:21 |
21 God the fadir made hym synne
for vs, which knewe not synne, that we schulden be maad riytwisnesse of God
in hym. |
21 for he hath made him to be
sin for us, which knew no sin, that we by his means should be that
righteousness which before God is allowed. |
21 for he hath made him to be
synne for vs which knewe no synne that we by his meanes shuld be that
rightewesnes which before God is aloved. |
21 for he hath made him which
knewe no synne, to be synne for vs, yt we by his meanes shulde be that
righteousnes, which before God is alowed. |
21 For he hath made him to be
sinne for vs, which knewe no sinne, that we should be made the righteousnesse
of God in him. |
21
For he hath made him to be sinne for vs, whiche knewe no sinne, that we
shoulde be made the ryghteousnesse of God in hym. |
21 For he hath made him to be
sinne for vs, who knewe no sinne, that wee might bee made the righteousnesse
of God in him. |
6:1 |
1 But we helpynge monesten, that
ye resseyuen not the grace of God in veyn. |
1 ¶ We as helpers therefore
exhort you, that ye receive not the grace of God in vain. |
1 We as helpers therfore exhorte
you yt ye receave not the grace of god in (vayne) |
1 We as helpers therfore exhorte
you, that ye receaue not ye grace of God in vayne. |
1 So we therefore as workers
together beseech you, that ye receiue not the grace of God in vaine. |
1
We also as helpers exhorte you, that ye receaue not the grace of God in
vayne. |
1 Wee then, as workers together
with him, beseech you also, that ye receiue not the grace of God in vaine. |
6:2 |
2 For he seith, In tyme wel

2 For he saith: i have heard

Behold now is that well accepted time: behold now is the day of health. |
2 For he saith: I have hearde

Beholde now is that well accepted tyme: beholde now is yt daye of saluacion. |
2 For he sayeth: I haue herde

Beholde, now is the accepted tyme, now is the daye of saluacion. |
2 For he sayth, I haue heard

beholde nowe the accepted time, beholde nowe the day of saluation. |
2
For he saith: I haue heard thee in a tyme accepted, and in the day of

nowe is that day of saluation: |
2 (For he saith, I haue heard

beholde, now is the accepted time, behold, now is the day of saluation) |

14 Be ye not vnequally yoked
together with vnbeleeuers: for what fellowship hath righteousnesse with
vnrighteousnesse? and what communion hath light with darknesse? |
6:15 |

15 And what concord hath Christ

15
Or what concorde hath Christe with belyall? Eyther what part hath he that

4 Myche trist is to me anentis

4 i am very bold over you, and

7:5 |
5 For whanne we weren comun to
Macedonye, oure fleisch hadde no reste, but we suffriden al tribulacioun;
with outforth fiytingis, and dredis with ynne. |
5 For when we were come into
Macedonia, our flesh had no rest, but we were troubled on every side: Outward
was fighting, inward was fear. |
5 For when we were come into
Macedonia oure flesshe had no rest but we were troubled on every syde.
Outwarde was fightynge inwarde was feare. |
5 For whan we were come into
Macedonia, oure flesh had no rest, but we were troubled on euery syde:
outwarde was fightinge, inwarde was feare. |
5 For when we were come into
Macedonia, our flesh had no rest, but we were troubled on euery side,
fightings without, and terrours within. |
5
For when we were come into Macedonia, our flesshe had no rest, but we were
troubled on euery syde: Outward was fyghtyng, inward was feare. |
5 For when wee were come into
Macedonia, our flesh had no rest, but we were troubled on euery side; without
were fightings, within were feares. |
7:6 |
6 But God that coumfortith meke
men, coumfortide vs in the comyng of Tite. |
6 Nevertheless he that
comforteth the abject, comforted us at the coming of Titus. |
6 Neverthelesse God that
comfortith the abiecte comforted vs at the commynge of Titus. |
6 Neuertheles God that
comforteth the abiecte, comforted vs by the comynge of Titus. |
6 But God, that comforteth the
abiect, comforted vs at the comming of Titus: |
6
Neuerthelesse, God that comforteth the humble, comforted vs by the commyng of
Titus. |
6 Neuerthelesse, God that
comforteth those that are cast downe, comforted vs by the comming of Titus. |
7:7 |
7 And not oneli in the comyng of
him, but also in the coumfort bi which he was coumfortid in you, tellinge to
vs youre desire, youre weping, youre loue for me, so that Y ioiede more. |
7 ¶ And not with his coming
only: but also with the consolation wherewith he was comforted of you. For he
told us your desire, your mourning, your fervent mind to meward: So that i
now rejoice the more. |
7 And not with his commynge
only: but also with the consolacion wherwith he was comforted of you. For he
tolde vs youre desyre youre mornynge youre fervent mynde to me warde: so that
I now reioyce the more. |
7 Not onely by his commynge, but
also by the cosolacion wherwith he was coforted of you, whan he tolde vs yor
desyre, youre wepynge, yor feruet mynde for me, so yt I now reioyse ye more. |
7 And not by his comming onely,
but also by the consolation wherewith he was comforted of you, when he tolde
vs your great desire, your mourning, your feruent minde to me warde, so that
I reioyced much more. |
7
And not by his comming only, but also by the consolatio whiche we receaued of
you, when he tolde vs your desire, your wepyng, your feruent mynde towarde
me, so that I reioyced the more. |
7 And not by his comming onely,
but by the consolation wherewith hee was comforted in you, when he told vs
your earnest desire, your mourning, your feruent minde toward me, so that I
reioyced the more. |
7:8 |
8 For thouy Y made you sorie in
a pistle, it rewith me not; thouy it rewide, seynge that thouy thilke pistle
made you sori at an our, now Y haue ioie; |
8 Wherefore though i made you
sorry with a letter i repent not: though i did repent. For i perceive that
that same Epistle made you sorry though it were but for a season. |
8 Wherfore though I made you
sory with a letter I repent not: though I did repent. For I perceave that ye
same pistle made you sory though it were but for a ceason. |
8 For where as I made you sory
by the letter, it repenteth me not, though I dyd repete. For I se, that the
same epistle made you sory (though it were but for a ceason). |
8 For though I made you sorie
with a letter, I repent not, though I did repent: for I perceiue that the
same epistle made you sorie, though it were but for a season. |
8
For though I made you sorie with a letter, I repent not, though I dyd repent.
For I perceaue, that the same epistle made you sorie, though it were but for
a season. |
8 For though I made you sory
with a letter, I doe not repent, though I did repent: For I perceiue that the
same Epistle hath made you sory, thogh it were but for a season. |
7:9 |
9 not for ye weren maad
soreuful, but for ye weren maad soreuful to penaunce. For whi ye ben maad
sori aftir God, that in no thing ye suffre peirement of vs. |
9 But i now rejoice, not that ye
were sorry, but that ye so sorrowed, that ye repented. |
9 But I now reioyce not that ye
were sory but that ye so sorowed that ye repented. For ye sorowed godly: so
yt in nothynge ye were hurte by vs. |
9 But now I reioyce, not that ye
were sory, but that ye were sory to repentaunce. For ye sorowed godly, so
that in nothinge ye were hurte by vs. |
9 I nowe reioyce, not that ye
were sorie, but that ye sorowed to repentance: for ye sorowed godly, so that
in nothing ye were hurt by vs. |
9
I nowe reioyce, not that ye were sorie, but that ye so sorowed to repent: for
ye sorowed godly, so that in nothyng ye were hurt by vs. |
9 Now I reioyce, not that ye
were made sorie, but that ye sorrowed to repentance: for ye were made sorie
after a godly maner, that ye might receiue damage by vs in nothing. {after…:
or, according to God} |
7:10 |
10 For the sorewe that is aftir
God, worchith penaunce in to stidfast heelthe; but sorewe of the world
worchith deth. |
10 For ye sorrowed godly: so
that in nothing were ye hurt by us. For godly sorrow causeth repentance unto
health, not to be repented of: when worldly sorrow causeth death. |
10 For godly sorowe causeth
repentaunce vnto salvacion not to be repented of: when worldly sorow causeth
deeth. |
10 For godly sorowe causeth
repentaunce vnto saluacion, not to be repented of: but worldly sorowe causeth
death. |
10 For godly sorowe causeth
repentance vnto saluation, not to be repented of: but the worldly sorowe
causeth death. |
10
For godly sorowe, causeth repentaunce vnto saluatio, not to be repented of:
but the sorowe of the world causeth death. |
10 For godly sorrow worketh
repentance to saluation not to be repented of, but the sorrow of the world
worketh death. |
7:11 |
11 For lo! this same thing, that
ye ben soreuful aftir God, hou myche bisynesse it worchith in you; but
defendyng, but indignacioun, but drede, but desire, but loue, but veniaunce.
In alle thingis ye han youun you silf to be vndefoulid in the cause. |
11 ¶ Behold what diligence this
godly sorrow that ye took hath wrought in you: yee it caused you to clear
yourselves. It caused indignation, it caused fear, it caused desire, it
caused a fervent mind, it caused punishment. For in all things ye have shewed |
11 Beholde what diligence this
godly sorowe that ye toke hath wrought in you: yee it caused you to cleare
youre selves. It caused indignacion it caused feare yt caused desyre it
caused a fervent mynde it caused punysshment. For in all thynges ye have shewed
youreselues that ye were cleare in that matter. |
11 Beholde, where as ye haue had
godly sorowe, what diligence hath it wrought in you? Yee a sufficiet answere,
displeasure, feare, desyre, a feruet mynde, punyshment. For in all poyntes ye
haue shewed youre selues, that ye are cleare in that matter. |
11 For beholde, this thing that
ye haue bene godly sory, what great care it hath wrought in you: yea, what
clearing of yourselues: yea, what indignation: yea, what feare: yea, howe
great desire: yea, what a zeale: yea, what reuenge: in all things ye haue
shewed your selues, that ye are pure in this matter. |
11
For beholde this thing, what carefulnesse this godly sorow that ye toke, hath
wrought in you: yea [what] clearing of your selues, yea [what] indignation,
yea [what] feare, yea [what] vehemet desire, yea [what] zeale, yea [what]
punishment. For in all thynges ye haue shewed your selues that ye were cleare
in ye matter. |
11 For behold this selfe same
thing that yee sorrowed after a godly sort, what carefulnesse it wrought in
you, yea, what clearing of your selues, yea, what indignation, yea what
feare, yea what vehement desire, yea what zeale, yea what reuenge; In all things
yee haue approued your selues to be cleare in this matter. |
7:12 |
12 Therfor thouy Y wroot to you,
Y wroot not for hym that dide the iniurie, nether for hym that suffride, but
to schewe oure bisinesse, which we han for you bifor God. |
12 Wherefore though i have
written unto you, i did it not for his cause that did hurt, neither for his
cause that was hurt: but that our good mind which we have toward you in the
sight of God, might appear unto you. |
12 Wherfore though I wrote vnto
you I did it not for his cause that did hurte nether for his cause that was
hurte: but that oure good mynde whych we have towarde you in the sight of god
myght appere vnto you. |
12 Wherfore though I wrote vnto
you, yet is it not done for his cause that dyd hurte, nether for his cause
that was hurte, but that youre diligence (which ye haue for vs in the sighte
of God) mighte be manifest wt you. |
12 Wherefore, though I wrote
vnto you, I did not it for his cause that had done the wrong, neither for his
cause that had the iniurie, but that our care toward you in the sight of God
might appeare vnto you. |
12
Wherefore, though I wrote vnto you, I dyd it not for his cause that had done
the hurt, neither for his cause that was hurt: but that your good minde to
vswarde myght appeare among you in the syght of God. |
12 Wherefore though I wrote vnto
you, I did it not for his cause that had done the wrong, nor for his cause
that suffered wrong, but that our care for you in the sight of God might
appeare vnto you. |
7:13 |
13 Therfor we ben coumfortid,
but in youre coumfort more plenteuousli we ioyeden more on the ioie of Tite,
for his spirit is fulfillid of alle you. |
13 ¶ Therefore we are comforted,
because ye are comforted: yee and exceedingly the more joyed we, for the joy
that Titus had: because his spirit was refreshed of you all. |
13 Therfore we are comforted
because ye are comforted: yee and excedyngly the moare ioyed we for the ioye
that Titus had: because his sprete was refresshed of you all. |
13 Therfore are we comforted,
because ye are comforted: but exceadingly the more ioyed we, for the ioye of
Titus, because his sprete was refresshed of you all. |
13 Therefore we were comforted,
because ye were comforted: but rather we reioyced much more for the ioye of
Titus, because his spirit was refreshed by you all. |
13
Therfore we are comforted, because ye are comforted: yea and exceedyngly the
more ioyed we, for the ioy that Titus had, because his spirite was refreshed
by you all. |
13 Therefore we were comforted
in your comfort, yea and exceedingly the more ioyed wee for the ioy of Titus,
because his spirit was refreshed by you all. |
7:14 |
14 And if Y gloriede ony thing
anentis hym of you, Y am not confoundid; but as we han spoke to you alle
thingis, so also oure glorie that was at Tite, is maad treuthe. |
14 i am therefore not now
ashamed, though i boasted myself to him of you. For as all things which i
preached unto you are true, even so is our boasting, that i boasted myself to
Titus with all, found true. |
14 I a therfor not now ashamed
though I bosted my sylfe to hym of you. For as all thynges which I preached
vnto you are true even so is oure bostynge that I bosted my silfe to Titus wt
all founde true. |
14 I am therfore not now
ashamed, though I boasted my selfe vnto him of you: but like as all is true
that I haue spoke vnto you, euen so is oure boastinge vnto Titus founde true
also. |
14 For if that I haue boasted
any thing to him of you, I haue not bene ashamed: but as I haue spoken vnto
you all things in trueth, euen so our boasting vnto Titus was true. |
14
I am therefore not nowe ashamed, though I boasted my selfe to hym of you. For
as all thinges which we spake vnto you are true: euen so our boastyng that I
made vnto Titus is made true. |
14 For if I haue boasted any
thing to him of you, I am not ashamed; but as we spake all things to you in
trueth, euen so our boasting which I made before Titus, is found a trueth. |
7:15 |
15 And the inwardnesse of hym be
more plenteuousli in you, which hath in mynde the obedience of you alle, hou
with drede and trembling ye resseyueden hym. |
15 And now is his inward
affection more abundant toward you, when he remembereth the obedience of
every one of you: how with fear and trembling ye received him. |
15 And now is his inwarde
affection more aboundant towarde you when he remembreth the obedience of
every one of you: how with feare and trymblynge ye receaved hym. |
15 And his inwarde affeccion is
more abundaunt towarde you, whan he remembreth the obedience of you all, how
ye receaued him with feare and treblynge. |
15 And his inwarde affection is
more aboundant toward you, when he remembreth the obedience of you all, and
howe with feare and trembling ye receiued him. |
15
And his inwarde affection is more aboundaunt towarde you, when he remembred
the obedience of you all, howe with feare and tremblyng ye receaued hym. |
15 And his inward affection is
more aboundant toward you, whilest he remembreth the obedience of you all,
how with feare and trembling you receiued him. {inward…: Gr. bowels} |
7:16 |
16 Y haue ioye, that in alle
thingis Y triste in you. |
16 i rejoice that i may be bold
over you in all things. |
16 I reioyce that I maye be
bolde over you in all thynges. |
16 I reioyse, that I maye be
bolde ouer you in all thinges. |
16 I reioyce therefore that I
may put my confidence in you in all things. |
16 I reioyce
that I may be bolde in you in all thynges. |
16 I reioyce therefore that I
haue confidence in you in all things. |
8:1 |
1 But, britheren, we maken
knowun to you the grace of God, that is youun in the chirchis of Macedonye, |
1 ¶ i do you to wit brethren of
the grace of God, which is given in the congregations of Macedonia, |
1 I do you to wit brethren of
the grace of god which is geven in the congregacions of Macedonia |
1 I do you to wit (brethren) the
grace of God, which is geue in the congregacions of Macedonia. |
1 We doe you also to wit,
brethren, of the grace of God bestowed vpon the Churches of Macedonia, |
1
Moreouer, we do you to wite brethren, of the grace of God, which was geuen in
the Churches of Macedonia. |
1 Moreouer, brethren, wee do you
to wit of the grace of God bestowed on the Churches of Macedonia, |
8:2 |
2 that in myche asaiyng of
tribulacioun, the plente of the ioye of hem was, and the hiyeste pouert of
hem was plenteuouse `in to the richessis of the symplenesse of hem. |
2 how that the abundance of
their rejoicing is, that they are tried with much tribulation. And how that
their poverty, though it be deep, yet hath followed over, and is be come unto
them riches in singleness. |
2 how that the aboundaunce of
their reioysing is that they are tried wt moche tribulacio. And therto though
they were excedinge poore yet haue they geue excedinge richly and that in
singlenesse. |
2 For their reioysinge was most
abundaunt, whan they were tryed by moch trouble: & though they were
exceadinge poore, yet haue they geue exceadinge richely, and that in
synglenesse. |
2 Because in great triall of
affliction their ioy abounded, and their most extreme pouertie abounded vnto
their rich liberalitie. |
2
Howe that ye aboundance of their reioycing is, that they are tryed with muche
tribulation. And though they were exceedyng poore, yet haue they geuen
exceedyng rychlye, and that in singlenesse. |
2 How that in a great trial of
affliction, the abundance of their ioy, and their deepe pouertie, abounded
vnto the riches of their liberalitie. {liberality: Gr. simplicity} |
8:3 |
3 For Y bere witnessyng to hem,
aftir miyt and aboue miyt thei weren wilful, |
3 For to their powers (i bear
them record) yee and beyond their power, they were willing of their own
accord, |
3 For to their powers (I beare
recorde) yee and beyonde their power they were willynge of their owne accorde |
3 For to their power (I beare
recorde) yee and beyonde their power, they were wyllinge of their awne
acorde, |
3 For to their power (I beare
record) yea, and beyonde their power, they were willing, |
3
For to their powers (I beare them recorde) yea & beyonde their powers,
they were wyllyng. |
3 For to their power (I beare
record) yea, and beyond their power they were willing of themselues: |
8:4 |
4 with myche monestyng
bisechynge vs the grace and the comynyng of mynystring, that is maad to hooli
men. |
4 and prayed us with great
instance, that we would receive their benefit, and suffer them to be part
takers with other in ministering to the saints. |
4 and prayed vs with great
instaunce that we wolde receave their benefite and suffre them to be
parttakers with other in ministrynge to the saynctes. |
4 and prayed vs with greate
instauce, that we wolde receaue their benefite and fellishippe of the
hadreachinge that is done for the sayntes: |
4 And praied vs with great
instance that we woulde receiue the grace, and fellowship of the ministring
which is toward the Saints. |
4
And prayed vs with great instaunce that we woulde receaue this grace and
societie of the ministerie to ye saintes. |
4 Praying vs with much
entreatie, that we would receiue the gift, and take vpon vs the fellowship of
the ministring to the Saints. |
8:5 |
5 And not as we hopiden, but
thei yauen hem silf first to the Lord, aftirward to vs bi the wille of God. |
5 And this they did, not as we
looked for: but gave their own selves first to the lord, and after unto us by
the will of God: |
5 And this they did not as we
loked for: but gave their awne selves fyrst to the lorde and after vnto vs by
the will of God: |
5 And not as we loked for, but
gaue ouer them selues first to the LODRE, and afterwarde vnto vs by ye wyl of
God, |
5 And this they did, not as we
looked for: but gaue their owne selues, first to the Lord, and after vnto vs
by the will of God, |
5
[And this they dyd] not as we loked for: but gaue their owne selues first to
the Lorde, and [after] vnto vs by the wyll of God. |
5 And this they did, not as we
hoped, but first gaue their owne selues to the Lord, and vnto vs, by the will
of God. |
8:6 |
6 So that we preyeden Tite, that
as he bigan, so also he performe in you this grace. |
6 so that we could not but
desire Titus to accomplish the same benevolence among you also, even as he
had begun. |
6 so that we coulde not but
desyre Titus to acomplysshe the same benivolence amonge you also even as he
had begonne. |
6 so that we coulde not but
desyre Titus, that like as he had begonne afore he wolde euen so accomplish
the same beniuolence amonge you. |
6 That we should exhort Titus,
that as hee had begon, so he would also accomplish the same grace among you
also. |
6
So that we coulde not but desire Titus to accomplyshe ye same grace among you
also, euen as he had begun. |
6 In so much that wee desired
Titus, that as he had begun, so hee would also finish in you, the same grace
also. {grace: or, gift} |
8:7 |
7 But as ye abounden in alle
thingis, in feith, and word, and kunnyng, and al bisynesse, more ouer and in
youre charite in to vs, that and in this grace ye abounden. |
7 ¶ Now therefore, as ye are
rich in all parts, in faith, in word, in knowledge, in all ferventness, and
in love, which ye have to us: even so see that ye be plenteous in this
benevolence. |
7 Now therfore as ye are ryche
in all parties in fayth in worde in knowledge in all fervetnes and in love
which ye have to vs: even so se that ye be plenteons in this benivolence. |
7 Now as ye are riche in all
poyntes, in faith and in worde, and in knowlege, and in all diligence, and in
youre loue towarde vs, euen so se that ye be plenteous also in this
benyuolece. |
7 Therefore, as yee abound in
euery thing, in faith and woorde, and knowledge, and in all diligence, and in
your loue towardes vs, euen so see that yee abound in this grace also. |
7
Nowe therefore as ye are riche in all thinges, in fayth, in worde, in
knowledge, in all feruentnesse, and in loue, which ye haue to vs: euen so,
see that ye be plenteous in this grace also. |
7 Therefore (as ye abound in
euery thing, in faith, and vtterance, & knowledge, and in all diligence,
and in your loue to vs) see that yee abound in this grace also. |
8:8 |
8 Y seie not as comaundinge, but
bi the bisynesse of othere men appreuynge also the good wit of youre charite. |
8 This say i not as commanding:
but because other are so fervent, therefore prove i your love, whether it be
perfect or no. |
8 Thys saye I not as
commaundynge: but be cause other are so fervent therfore prove I youre love
whether it be perfait or no. |
8 This I saye not as
commaudynge, but seynge, other are so diligent, I proue youre loue also,
whether it be perfecte or no. |
8 This say I not by
commandement, but because of the diligence of others: therefore prooue I the
naturalnesse of your loue. |
8
This say I not by commaundement, but because of ye feruentnesse of other,
& alowing the vnfaynednes of your loue. |
8 I speake not by commandement,
but by occasion of the forwardnesse of others, and to prooue the sinceritie
of your loue. |
8:9 |
9 And ye witen the grace of oure
Lord Jhesu Crist, for he was maad nedi for you, whanne he was riche, that ye
schulden be maad riche bi his nedynesse. |
9 Ye know the liberality of our
lord Iesus Christ, which though he were rich, yet for your sakes became poor:
that ye thorow his poverty might be made rich. |
9 Ye knowe the liberalitie of
oure lorde Iesus Christ which though he were riche yet for youre sakes be
came poore: that ye thorow his povertie myght be made ryche. |
9 For ye knowe the liberalite of
oure LORDE Iesus Christ, which though he be riche, yet for youre sakes he
became poore, yt ye thorow his pouerte mighte be made riche. |
9 For ye knowe the grace of our
Lord Iesus Christ, that hee being rich, for your sakes became poore, that yee
through his pouertie might be made rich. |
9
For ye knowe the grace of our Lorde Iesus Christ, that though he was rich,
yet for your sakes he became poore, that ye through his pouertie might be
made rich. |
9 For yee know the grace of our
Lord Iesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became
poore, that yee through his pouertie might be rich. |
8:10 |
10 And Y yyue counsel in this
thing; for this is profitable to you, that not oneli han bigunne to do, but
also ye bigunnen to haue wille fro the formere yere. |
10 ¶ And i give counsel hereto:
For this is expedient for you, which began, not to do only: but also to will,
a year ago. |
10 And I geve counsell hereto.
For this is expedient for you which beganne not to do only: but also to will
a yeare a goo. |
10 And my councell herin I geue,
for this is profitable for you, which haue begonne a yeare a goo,not onely to
do, but also to wyll. |
10 And I shewe my minde herein:
for this is expedient for you, which haue begun not to doe onely, but also to
will, a yeare agoe. |
10
And I geue councell hereto: For this is expedient for you, which haue begun
not to do only, but also to wil a yere ago. |
10 And herein I giue my aduice,
for this is expedient for you, who haue begun before, not onely to doe, but
also to be forward a yeere agoe. {forward: Gr. willing} |
8:11 |
11 But now parfourme ye in deed,
that as the discrecioun of wille is redi, so be it also of parformyng of that
that ye han. |
11 Now therefore perform the
deed, that as there was in you a readiness to will, even so ye may perform
the deed, of that which ye have. |
11 Now therfore performe the
dede: that as ther was in you a redines to will even so ye maye performe the
dede of that which ye have. |
11 But now perfourme the dede
also, that like as there is a ready mynde to wil, there maye be a ready mynde
also to perfourme the dede of that which ye haue. |
11 Nowe therefore performe to
doe it also, that as there was a readinesse to will, euen so yee may performe
it of that which yee haue. |
11
Nowe therfore perfourme the thyng which ye began to do: that as ther was in
you a redines to wyll, euen so ye may performe ye dede of that which ye
haue. |
11 Now therefore performe the
doing of it, that as there was a readinesse to will, so there may be a
performance also out of that which you haue. |
8:12 |
12 For if the wille be redi, it
is acceptid aftir that that it hath, not aftir that that it hath not. |
12 For if there be first a
willing mind, it is accepted according to that a man hath, and not according
to that he hath not. |
12 For if ther be fyrst a
willynge mynde it is accepted accordynge to that a man hath and not
accordinge to that he hath not. |
12 For yf there be a wyllinge
mynde, it is accepted acordinge to that a man hath, not acordinge to that he
hath not. |
12 For if there be first a
willing minde, it is accepted according to that a man hath, and not according
to that he hath not. |
12
For if there be first a wyllyng mynde, it is accepted accordyng to that a man
hath, and not accordyng to that he hath not. |
12 For if there bee first a
willing minde, it is accepted according to that a man hath, and not according
to that he hath not. |
8:13 |
13 And not that it be remyssioun
to othere men, and to you tribulacioun; |
13 ¶ It is not my mind that
other be set at ease, and ye brought into cumbrance: but that there be
egalness. |
13 It is not my mynde that other
be set at ease and ye brought into combraunce: |
13 This is not done to the
intent, that other shulde haue ease, and ye cobraunce, |
13 Neither is it that other men
should be eased and you grieued: But vpon like condition, at this time your
abundance supplieth their lacke: |
13
Truly, not that other be set at ease, & ye brought into combraunce: |
13 For I meane not that other
men bee eased, and you burthened: |
8:14 |
14 but of euenesse in the
present tyme youre aboundance fulfille the myseese of hem, that also the
aboundaunce of hem be a fulfillynge of youre myseise, that euenesse be maad;
as it is writun, |
14 Let your abundance succour
their lack at this present time of dearth: that their abundance may supply
your lack: that there may be equality, |
14 but that ther be egalnes now
at this tyme that youre aboundaunce sucker their lacke: that their
aboundaunce maye supplie youre lacke: |
14 but that it be a lyke. Let
youre abundaunce sucker their lacke in this tyme off derth, that their
abundaunce also herafter maye supplee youre lacke, |
14 That also their aboundance
may bee for your lacke, that there may be equalitie: |
14
But that there be equalnesse nowe at this tyme, and that your aboundaunce may
succour their lacke, and that their aboundaunce maye supplie your lacke, that
there may be equalitie. |
14 But by an equalitie: that now
at this time your abundance may be a supply for their want, that their
abundance also may be a supply for your want, that there may be equalitie, |
8:15 |
15 He that gaderide myche, was
not encresid, and he that gaderide litil, hadde not lesse. |
15 agreeing to that which is
written: He that gathered much had never the more abundance, and he that
gathered little, had nevertheless. |
15 that ther maye be equalite
agreynge to that which is written. He that gaddered moche had never the more
aboundaunce and he yt gaddered lytell had never the lesse. |
15 that there maye be equalite.
As it is wrytten: He yt gathered moch, had not the more: and he that gathered
litle, wanted nothinge. |
15 As it is written, Hee that
gathered much, had nothing ouer, and hee that gathered litle, had not the
lesse. |
15
As it written: He that had much, had not the more aboundaunce, and he that
had litle, had not the lesse. |
15 As it is written, Hee that
had gathered much, had nothing ouer, and hee that had gathered little, had no
lacke. |
8:16 |
16 And Y do thankyngis to God,
that yaf the same bisynesse for you in the herte of Tite, |
16 Thanks be unto God, which put
in the heart of Titus the same good mind toward you. |
16 Thankes be vnto god which put
in ye hert of Titus the same good mynde toward you. |
16 Thakes be vnto God, which put
in the hert of Titus, the same diligence towarde you. |
16 And thanks be vnto God, which
hath put in the heart of Titus the same care for you. |
16
Thankes be vnto God, which put the same good mynde for you in the heart of
Titus, |
16 But thankes bee to God which
put the same earnest care into the heart of Titus for you. |
8:17 |
17 for he resseyuede
exortacioun; but whanne he was bisier, bi his wille he wente forth to you. |
17 For he accepted our request.
yee rather he was so well willing, that of his own accord came unto you. |
17 For he accepted ye request
yee rather he was so well willynge that of his awne accorde came vnto you. |
17 For he accepted the request
in dede, yee he was rather so well wyllynge, that of his awne acorde, he came
vnto you. |
17 Because hee accepted the
exhortation, yea, hee was so carefull that of his owne accorde hee went vnto
you. |
17
Because he accepted the exhortation, yea rather he was so well wylling, that
of his owne accorde he came vnto you. |
17 For indeed he accepted the
exhortation, but being more forward, of his owne accord he went vnto you. |
8:18 |
18 And we senten with hym a
brother, whose preisyng is in the gospel bi alle chirchis. |
18 ¶ We have sent with him that
brother whose laud is in the gospel thorow out all the congregations: |
18 We haue sent with him that
brother whose laude is in the gospell thorow out all the congregacions: |
18 We haue sent with him that
brother, whose prayse is in the Gospell thorow out all the congregacions. |
18 And wee haue sent also with
him the brother, whose praise is in the Gospel throughout al the Churches. |
18
We haue sent with hym that brother whose praise is in the Gospel through out
all the Churches. |
18 And wee haue sent with him
the brother, whose praise is in the Gospel, throughout all the Churches. |
8:19 |
19 And not oneli, but also he is
ordeyned of chirchis the felowe of oure pilgrimage in to this grace, that is
mynystrid of vs to the glorie of the Lord, and to oure ordeyned wille; |
19 and not so only, but is also
chosen of the congregations to be a fellow with us in our journey, as
concerning this benevolence that is ministered by us unto the praise of the
lord, and to stir up your prompt mind. |
19 and not so only but is also
chosen of the congregacions to be a felowe with vs in oure iorney concerninge
this benivolence that is ministred by vs vnto the prayse of ye lorde and to
stere vp youre prompt mynde. |
19 Not onely that, but he is
chosen also of the congregacions, to be a felowe with vs in oure iourney, for
this benyuolence that is mynistred by vs vnto the prayse of the LORDE, and to
stere vp youre prompte mynde, |
19 (And not so onely, but is
also chosen of the Churches to be a fellowe in our iourney, concerning this
grace that is ministred by vs vnto the glorie of the same Lord, and
declaration of your prompt minde) |
19
(And not that only, but is also chosen of the Churches to be a felowe with vs
in our iourney, concernyng this grace that is ministred by vs vnto the glorie
of the same Lorde, and to stirre vp your redie mynde) |
19 And not that onely, but who
was also chosen of the Churches to trauaile with vs with this grace which is
administred by vs to the glorie of the same Lord, and declaration of your
readie minde. {grace: or, gift} |
8:20 |
20 eschewynge this thing, that
no man blame vs in this plente, that is mynystrid of vs to the glorye of the
Lord. |
20 And this we eschew that any
man should rebuke us in this abundance, that is ministered by us, |
20 For thys we eschue that eny
man shuld rebuke vs in this plenteous distribucion that is ministred by vs |
20 and to bewarre, lest eny ma
reporte euell of vs because of this plenteousnes, which is mynistred by vs: |
20 Auoiding this, that no man
shoulde blame vs in this aboundance that is ministred by vs, |
20
For this we eschewe, that any man shoulde rebuke vs in this plenteous
distribution that is ministred by vs: |
20 Auoyding this, that no man
should blame vs in this aboundance which is administred by vs. |
8:21 |
21 For we purueyen good thingis,
not onely bifor God, but also bifor alle men. |
21 and make provision for honest
things, not in the sight of God only, but also in the sight of men. |
21 and therfore make provision
for honest thynges not in the sight of god only but also in the sight of men. |
21 and therfore make we
prouision for honest thinges, not onely before the LORDE, but also before
men. |
21 Prouiding for honest thinges,
not onely before the Lord, but also before men. |
21
And make prouisio for honest thinges, not only in the syght of the Lorde, but
also in the syght of men. |
21 Prouiding for honest things,
not onely in the sight of the Lord, but in the sight of men. |
8:22 |
22 For we senten with hem also
oure brothir, whom we han preued in many thingis ofte, that he was bisi, but
nowe myche bisier, for myche trist in you, |
22 ¶ We have sent with them a
brother of ours whom we have oft times proved diligent in many things, but
now much more diligent. The great confidence which i have in you |
22 We have sent with them a
brother of oures whom we have ofte tymes proved diliget in many thynges but
now moche more diligent. The great confidence which I have in you. |
22 We haue sent with them also a
brother of oures, whom we haue oft proued diliget in many thinges, but now
moch more diligent. |
22 And we haue sent with them
our brother, whom we haue oft times prooued to be diligent in many thinges,
but nowe much more diligent, for the great confidence, which I haue in you. |
22
We haue sent with them a brother of ours, whom we haue oftentymes proued
diligent in many thinges, but nowe much more diligent, for the great
confidence [whiche I haue] in you: |
22 And we haue sent with them
our brother, whom wee haue often times proued diligent in many things, but
now much more diligent, vpon the great confidence which I haue in you. {I
have: or, he hath} |
8:23 |
23 ethir for Tite, that is my
felowe and helpere in you, ethir for oure britheren, apostlis of the chirches
of the glorie of Crist. |
23 hath caused me this to do:
partly for Titus' sake which is my fellow, and helper as concerning you:
partly because of other which are our brethren, and the messengers of the
congregations, and the glory of Christ. |
23 hath caused me this to do:
partly for Titus sake which is my felowe and helper as cocernynge you partly
because of other which are oure brethren and the messengers of the
congregacios and ye glory of Christ. |
23 And this haue we done in
greate hope towarde you, whether it be for Titus sake (which is my felowe and
helper amonge you) or for oure brethre (which are Apostles of the
cogregacions, & the prayse of Christ.) |
23 Whether any doe inquire of
Titus, he is my fellowe and helper to you ward: or of our brethren, they are
messengers of the Churches, and the glorie of Christ. |
23
Partly for Titus sake, which is my felowe & helper concernyng you: partly
because of other which are our brethren and the messengers of the Churches,
[and] the glorie of Christe. |
23 Whether any doe enquire of
Titus; he is my partner and fellow helper concerning you: or our brethren bee
enquired of, they are the messengers of the Churches, and the glorie of
Christ. |
8:24 |
24 Therfor schewe ye in to hem
in the face of chirchis, that schewynge that is of youre charite and of oure
glorie for you. |
24 Wherefore shew unto them the
proof of your love, and of the rejoicing that we have of you, that the
congregations may see it. |
24 Wherfore shewe vnto them the
proffe of youre love and of the reioysynge that we have of you that ye
congregacions maye se it. |
24 Shewe now the profe off youre
loue and off oure boastinge of you, vnto these, and opely in the sighte of
the cogregacions. |
24 Wherefore shew toward them,
and before the Churches the proofe of your loue, and of the reioycing that we
haue of you. |
24
Wherfore shewe ye vnto them ye profe of your loue, & of our reioycyng of
you in the syght of the Churches. |
24 Wherefore shew ye to them,
and before the Churches, the proofe of your loue, & of our boasting on
your behalfe. |
9:1 |
1 For of the mynystrie that is
maad to hooli men, it is to me of plente to write to you. |
1 ¶ Of the ministering to the
saints, it is but superfluous for me to write unto you: |
1 Of the ministrynge to ye
saynctes it is but superfluous for me to write vnto you: |
1 Of the handreachinge vnto ye
sayntes, it is no nede for me to wryte vnto you: |
1 For as touching the ministring
to the Saints, it is superfluous for me to write vnto you. |
1
Of the ministryng to the saintes, it is but superfluous for me to write vnto
you: |
1 For as touching the ministring
to the Saints, it is superfluous for mee to write to you. |
9:2 |
2 For Y knowe youre wille, for
the which Y haue glorie of you anentis Macedonyes, for also Acaie is redi fro
a yeer passid, and youre loue hath stirid ful manye. |
2 for i know your readiness of
mind, whereof i boast myself unto them of Macedonia, and say that Achaia was
prepared a year ago, and your ferventness hath provoked many. |
2 for I knowe youre redynes of
mide wherof I bost my silfe vnto them of Macedonia and saye that Achaia was
prepared a yeare a goo and youre ferventnes hath provoked many. |
2 for I knowe youre redynesse of
mynde, wherof I boast my selfe amonge them of Macedonia, and saye: Achaia was
ready a yeare agoo. And youre feruentnesse hath prouoked many. |
2 For I knowe your readinesse of
minde, whereof I boast my selfe of you vnto them of Macedonia, and say, that
Achaia was prepared a yeere agoe, and your zeale hath prouoked many. |
2
For I knowe the redinesse of your mynde, whereof I boast my selfe of you,
vnto them of Macedonia, that Achaia was prepared a yere a go: and your zeale
hath prouoked many. |
2 For I know the forwardnesse of
your mind, for which I boast of you to them of Macedonia, that Achaia was
ready a yeere agoe, and your zeale hath prouoked very many. |
9:3 |
3 And we han sent britheren,
that this thing that we glorien of you, be not auoidid in this parti, that as
Y seide, ye be redi. |
3 Nevertheless yet have i sent
these brethren, lest our rejoicing over you should be in vain in this behalf,
and that ye (as i have said) prepare yourselves, |
3 Never thelesse yet have I sent
these brethren lest oure reioysynge over you shuld be in vayne in this
behalfe and that ye (as I have sayd) preparare youre selues |
3 Neuertheles yet haue we sent
these brethren, lest oure reioysinge ouer you shulde be in vayne in this
behalfe, that ye mighte be ready, as I haue reported of you: |
3 Nowe haue I sent the brethren,
lest our reioycing ouer you shoulde bee in vaine in this behalfe, that yee
(as I haue sayde) be readie: |
3
Yet haue I sent the brethren, lest our boastyng which I make of you, should
be in vayne in this behalfe, that ye (as I haue sayde) may prepare your
selues. |
3 Yet haue I sent the brethren,
least our boasting of you should bee in vaine in this behalfe, that as I
saide, yee may be readie. |
9:4 |
4 Lest whanne Macedonyes comen
with me, and fynden you vnredi, we be schamed, that we seien you not, in this
substaunce. |
4 lest peradventure if they of
Macedonia come with me and find you unprepared, the boast that i made in this
matter should be a shame to us: i say not unto you. |
4 lest paraveture yf they of
Macedonia come with me and fynde you vnprepared the boost that I made in this
matter shuld be a shame to vs: I saye not vnto you. |
4 lest whan they of Macedonia
come with me, and fynde you vnprepared, we (I wyl not saye ye) shulde be
ashamed in this presumpcion of boostinge. |
4 Lest if they of Macedonia come
with me, and finde you vnprepared, we (that wee may not say, you) should be
ashamed in this my constant boasting. |
4
Lest yf they of Macedonia come with me, and fynde you vnprepared, we (I wyll
not say you) shoulde be ashamed in this matter of boastyng. |
4 Lest happily if they of
Macedonia come with mee, & find you vnprepared, wee (that wee say not,
you) should bee ashamed in this same confident boasting. |
9:5 |
5 Therfor Y gesside necessarie
to preie britheren, that thei come bifore to you, and make redi this bihiyt
blessyng to be redi, so as blessing, and not as aueryce. |
5 ¶ Wherefore i thought it
necessary to exhort the brethren, to come before hand unto you, for to
prepare your good blessing promised afore, that it might be ready: so that it
be a blessing, and not a defrauding. |
5 Wherfore I thought it
necessary to exhorte the brethren to come before hode vnto you forto prepare
youre good blessynge promysed afore that it myght be redy: so yt it be a
blessynge and not a defraudynge. |
5 Wherfore I thoughte it
necessary to exhorte the brethren, to come before hande vnto you, for to
prepare this blessynge promysed afore, that it mighte be ready, so that it be
a blessynge, and not a defraudynge. |
5 Wherefore, I thought it
necessarie to exhort the brethren to come before vnto you, and to finish your
beneuolence appointed afore, that it might be readie, and come as of
beneuolence, and not as of niggardlinesse. |
5
Therfore, I thought it necessarie to exhort the brethren, to come beforehand
vnto you, and to prepare your good blessyng promised afore, that it myght be
redy, so that it be as a blessyng, and not a defraudyng. |
5 Therefore I thought it
necessary to exhort the brethren, that they would go before vnto you, and
make vp before hand your bountie, whereof yee had notice before, that the
same might bee readie, as a matter of bountie, not of couetousnesse. {bounty:
Gr. blessing} {whereof…: or, which hath been so much spoken of before} |
9:6 |
6 For Y seie this thing, he that
sowith scarseli, schal also repe scarseli; and he that sowith in blessyngis,
schal `repe also of blessyngis. |
6 This yet remember, how that he
which soweth little, shall reap little: and he that soweth plenteously shall
reap plenteously. |
6 This yet remember howe that he
which soweth lytell shall reepe lytell: and he yt soweth plenteously shall
reepe plenteously. |
6 This I thynke: that he which
soweth litle, shal reape litle also: and he yt soweth plenteously, shal
likewyse reape plenteously, |
6 This yet remember, that he
which soweth sparingly, shall reape also sparingly, and hee that soweth
liberally, shall reape also liberally. |
6
This yet [I say] he which soweth litle, shall reape litle: and he that soweth
in geuyng largely and freely, shall reape plenteouslie. |
6 But this I say, Hee which
soweth sparingly, shall reape sparingly: and he which soweth bountifully,
shall reape bountifully. |

7 Ech man as he castide in his

7 And let every man do according
as he hath purposed in his heart, not grudgingly, or of necessity. For God

7 And let every man do
accordynge as he hath purposed in his herte not groudgyngly or of necessite.
For god loveth a chearfull gever. |

cheerefull giuer. |
7
Let euery man do, accordyng as he hath purposed in his heart, not grudgyngly,
or of necessitie: For God loueth a chearefull geuer. |
7 Euerie man according as he

for God loueth a cheerefull giuer. |

10:1 |
1 And Y my silf Poul biseche
you, bi the myldenesse and softnesse of Crist, which in the face am meke
among you, and Y absent triste in you. |
1 ¶ i Paul myself beseech you by
the meekness and softness of Christ, which when i am present among you, am of
no reputation, but am bold toward you being absent. |
1 I Paule my silfe beseche you
by the mekenes and softnes of Christ which when I am present amoge you am of
no reputacio but am bolde towarde you beinge absent. |
1 I Paul my selfe beseke you by
the mekenesse and softnesse off Christ, which when I am present amonge you,
am of small reputacion, but am bolde towarde you beynge absent. |
1 Nowe I Paul my selfe beseech
you by the meekenes, and gentlenes of Christ, which when I am present among
you am base, but am bolde toward you being absent: |
1
I Paul my selfe beseche you by the mekenesse & gentlenesse of Christ,
whiche when I am present among you, am lowlye: but am bolde towarde you beyng
absent. |
1 Now I Paul my selfe beseech
you, by the meekenes and gentlenesse of Christ, who in presence am base among
you, but being absent, am bold toward you: {in presence: or, in outward
appearance} |
10:2 |
2 For Y preie you, that lest Y
present be not bold bi the trist, in which Y am gessid to be bold in to
summe, that demen vs, as if we wandren aftir the fleisch. |
2 i beseech you that i need not
to be bold when i am present (with that same confidence, wherewith i am
supposed to be bold) against some which repute us as though we walked
carnally. |
2 I besech you that I nede not
to be bolde when I am present (with that same confidece wher with I am
supposed to be bolde) agaynst some which repute vs as though we walked
carnally. |
2 I beseke you that I nede not
be bolde whan I am present, & to vse yt boldnesse wherwith I am supposed
to be bolde, agaynst some, which repute vs as though we walked after ye
flesh: |
2 And this I require you, that I
neede not to be bolde when I am present, with that same confidence, wherewith
I thinke to bee bolde against some, which esteeme vs as though wee walked
according to the flesh. |
2
I beseche you, that I neede not to be bolde when I am present, with that same
boldnesse, wherwith I am supposed to haue ben bolde, agaynst some, which
repute vs as though we walked accordyng to the fleshe. |
2 But I beseech you, that I may
not bee bold when I am present, with that confidence wherewith I thinke to be
bold against some, which thinke of vs as if wee walked according to the
flesh. {think: or, reckon} |
10:3 |
3 For we walkynge in fleisch,
fiyten not aftir the fleisch. |
3 Nevertheless though we walk
compassed with the flesh, yet we war not fleshly. |
3 Neverthelesse though we walke
compased with ye fleshe yet we warre not flesshlye |
3 for though we walke in the
flesh, yet fighte we not after a fleshly maner. |
3 Neuerthelesse, though wee
walke in the flesh, yet we doe not warre after the flesh. |
3
For though we walke in the fleshe, yet we do not warre according to ye
flesh. |
3 For though we walke in the
flesh, we doe not warre after the flesh: |
10:4 |
4 For the armuris of oure
knyythod ben not fleischli, but myyti bi God to the distruccioun of
strengthis. And we distrien counsels, |
4 For the weapons of our war are
not carnal things, but things mighty in God to cast down strongholds, |
4 For the weapes of oure warre
are not carnall thinges but thynges myghty in god to cast doune stronge
holdes |
4 For the wapens of oure warre
are not fleshly, but mightie before God to cast downe stroge holdes, |
4 (For the weapons of our
warrefare are not carnall, but mightie through God, to cast downe holdes) |
4
For the weapons of our warfare are not carnall, but myghtie through God, to
cast downe strong holdes, |
4 (For the weapons of our
warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling downe of strong
holds.) {through God: or, to God} |
10:5 |
5 and alle hiynesse that hiyeth
it silf ayens the science of God, and dryuen `in to caitifte al vndirstonding
in to the seruyce of Crist. |
5 wherewith we overthrow
imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge
of God, and bring into captivity all understanding to the obedience of
Christ, |
5 wherwith we overthrowe
ymaginacyons and every hye thynge that exalteh it silfe agaynst the knowledge
of god and brynge into captivite all vnderstondynge to the obedience of
Christ |
5 wherwith we ouerthrowe
ymaginacions, & euery hye thinge yt exalteth it selfe agaynst the
knowlege of God, and brynge in to captiuyte all vnderstondinge to the
obedience of Christ, |
5 Casting downe the
imaginations, and euery high thing that is exalted against the knowledge of
God, and bringing into captiuitie euery thought to the obedience of Christ, |
5
Wherwith we ouerthrowe counsels, and euery hye thyng, that is exalted agaynst
the knowledge of God, & bryng into captiuitie all imagination, to the
obedience of Christe, |
5 Casting down imaginations, and
euery high thing that exalteth it selfe against the knowledge of God, and
bringing into captiuitie euery thought to the obedience of Christ:
{imaginations: or, reasonings} |
10:6 |
6 And we han redi to venge al
vnobedience, whanne youre obedience schal be fillid. |
6 and are ready to take
vengeance on all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled. |
6 and are redy to take
vengeaunce on all disobedience when youre obedience is fulfilled. |
6 & are ready to take
vengeaunce on all disobedience, whan youre obediece is fulfylled. |
6 And hauing ready the vengeance
against all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled. |
6
And are readie to take vengeaunce on all disobedience, when your obedience is
fulfylled. |
6 And hauing in a readinesse to
reuenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled. |
10:7 |
7 Se ye the thingis that ben
after the face. If ony man trustith to him silf, that he is of Crist, thenke
he this thing eft anentis hym silf, |
7 Look ye on things after the
utter appearance. ¶ If any man trust in himself that he is Christi's, let the
same also consider of himself, that as he is Christi's, even so are we
Christe's. |
7 Loke ye on thynges after ye
vtter apparence? Yf eny man trust in him silfe yt he is Christis let the same
also considre of him silfe yt as he is Christis even so are we Christes. |
7 Loke ye on thinges after ye
vtter appearauce?Yf eny man trust of himselfe yt he is Christes, let him
thinke this also by himselfe, yt like as he is Christes, eue so are we
Christes also. |
7 Looke yee on things after the
appearance? If any man trust in himselfe that hee is Christes, let him
consider this againe of himself, that as he is Christes, euen so are we
Christes. |
7
Loke ye on thynges after the vtter appearaunce? If any man trust in hym selfe
that he is Christes, let hym consider this agayne of hym selfe, that as he
[is] of Christe, euen so [are] we of Christe. |
7 Doe ye looke on things after
the outward appearance? if any man trust to himselfe, that he is Christs, let
him of himselfe thinke this againe, that as he is Christs, euen so are we
Christs. |
10:8 |
8 for as he is Cristis, so also
we. For if Y schal glorie ony thing more of oure power, which the Lord yaf to
vs in to edifiyng, and not in to youre distruccioun, Y schal not be schamed. |
8 And though i should boast
myself somewhat more of our authority which the lord hath given us to edify
and not to destroy you, it should not be to my shame. |
8 And though I shuld bost my
silfe somewhat moare of oure auctorite which the lorde hath geven vs to
edifie and not to destroye you it shulde not be to my shame. |
8 And though I shulde boast my
selfe somwhat more of oure auctorite which ye LORDE hath geue vs to edifye
and not to destroye, it shulde not be to my shame. |
8 For though I shoulde boast
somewhat more of our authoritie, which the Lord hath giuen vs for
edification, and not for your destruction, I should haue no shame. |
8
For though I shoulde boast my selfe somwhat more of our auctoritie, which the
Lorde hath geuen to vs for edification, and not for your destruction, it shal
not be to my shame: |
8 For though I should boast
somewhat more of our authority (which the Lord hath giuen vs for edification,
and not for your destruction) I should not be ashamed: |
10:9 |
9 But that Y be not gessid as to
fere you bi epistlis, |
9 This say i, lest i should seem
as though i went about to make you afraid with letters. |
9 This saye I lest I shuld seme
as though I went about to make you a frayde with letters. |
9 This I saye, lest I shulde
seme, as though I wente aboute to make you afrayed with letters. |
9 This I say, that I may not
seeme as it were to feare you with letters. |
9
Lest I should seeme as though I wet about to make you afrayde by
letters. |
9 That I may not seeme as if I
would terrifie you by letters. |
10:10 |
10 for thei seien, That epistlis
ben greuouse and stronge, but the presence of the bodi is feble, and the word
worthi to be dispisid. |
10 For the pistels (saith he)
are sore and strong: but his bodily presence is weak, and his speech homely. |
10 For ye pistles (sayth he) are
sore and stronge: but his bodyly presence is weake and his speache rude. |
10 For the pistles (saye they)
are sore and stronge, but his bodely presence is weake, and his speache rude. |
10 For the letters, sayeth hee,
are sore and strong, but his bodily presence is weake, and his speache is of
no value. |
10
For the letters sayth he, are sore and strong: but his bodyly presence is
weake, and his speache rude. |
10 For his letters (say they)
are waighty and powerfull, but his bodily presence is weake, and his speach
contemptible. {say they: Gr. saith he} |
10:11 |
11 He that is suche oon, thenke
this, for suche as we absent ben in word bi pistlis, suche we ben present in
dede. |
11 Let him that is such think on
this wise, that as we are in words by letters when we are absent, such are we
in deeds when we are present. |
11 Let him yt is soche thynke on
this wyse that as we are in wordes by letters when we are absent soche are we
in dedes when we are present. |
11 Let him yt is soche, thinke
on this wyse, that as we are in worde by letters wha we are absente, soch are
we also in dede whan we are present. |
11 Let such one thinke this,
that such as wee are in woorde by letters, when we are absent, such wil we be
also in deede, when we are present. |
11
Let hym that is such, thynke on this wise: that as we are in worde by
letters, when we are absent, such are we in deede when we are present. |
11 Let such a one thinke this:
that such as we are in word by letters, when we are absent, such will we be
also in deede when we are present. |
10:12 |
12 For we doren not putte vs
among, or comparisoune vs to summen, that comenden hem silf; but we mesuren
vs in vs silf, and comparisounen vs silf to vs. |
12 ¶ For we cannot find in our
hearts to make ourselves of the number of them, or to compare ourselves to
them, which laud themselves: but while they measure themselves with
themselves, and compare themselves with themselves, they understand nought. |
12 For we cannot fynde in oure
hertes to make oure selves of ye nombre of them or to compare oure selves to
them which laude the selves neuerthelesse whill they measure the selves wt
them selves and copare the selves wt the selves they vnderstode nought. |
12 For we darre not reken or
compare oure selues, vnto some that prayse them selues: Neuertheles whyle
they measure them selues by them selues, and holde onely of them selues, they
vnderstonde nothinge. |
12 For wee dare not make our
selues of the nomber, or to compare our selues to them, which praise
themselues: but they vnderstand not that they measure themselues with
themselues, and compare themselues with themselues. |
12
For we dare not make our selues of the number of them, or to compare our
selues to them which praise themselues. Neuerthelesse, whyle they measure
them selues, with them selues, and compare them selues with them selues, they
vnderstande not. |
12 For we dare not make our
selues of the number, or compare our selues with some that commend
themselues: but they measuring themselues by themselues, and comparing
themselues amongst themselues, are not wise. {are…: or, understand it not} |
10:13 |
13 For we schulen not haue
glorie ouer mesure, but bi the mesure of the reule which God mesuride to vs,
the mesure that stretchith to you. |
13 But we will not rejoice above
measure: but according to the quantity of the measure which God hath
distributed unto us, a measure that reacheth even unto you. |
13 But we wyll not reioyce above
measure: but accordynge to the quantitie of ye measure which god hath
distributed vnto vs a measure that reacheth even vnto you. |
13 Howbeit we wil not boast or
selues aboue measure, but onely acordinge to the measure of the rule,
wherwith God hath distributed vnto vs the measure to reach euen vnto you. |
13 But we wil not reioyce of
things, which are not within our measure, but according to the measure of the
line, whereof God hath distributed vnto vs a measure to attaine euen vnto
you. |
13
But we wyll not reioyce aboue measure: but accordyng to the measure of the
rule, which God hath distributed vnto vs, a measure to reache euen vnto
you. |
13 But we will not boast of
things without our measure, but according to the measure of the rule, which
God hath distributed to vs, a measure to reach euen vnto you. {rule: or,
line} |
10:14 |
14 For we ouerstretchen not
forth vs, as not stretchinge to you. For to you we camen in the gospel of
Crist, |
14 For we stretch not out
ourselves beyond measure as though we had not reached unto you. For even unto
you have we come with the gospel of Christ, |
14 For we stretche uot out oure
selves beyode measure as though we had not reached vnto you. For even vnto
you have we come with the gospell of Christ |
14 For we stretche not or selues
to farre as though we had not reached vnto you. For euen vnto you haue we
come with the Gospell of Christ, |
14 For we stretche not our
selues beyonde our measure, as though wee had not attained vnto you: for euen
to you also haue we come in preaching the Gospel of Christ, |
14
For we stretch not out our selues beyonde measure, as though we reached not
vnto you: For euen to you also haue we come with the Gospell of Christe: |
14 For we stretch not our selues
beyond our measure as though wee reached not vnto you, for wee are come as
farre as to you also, in preaching the Gospel of Christ. |
10:15 |
15 not gloriynge ouer mesure in
othere mennus trauelis. For we `han hope of youre feith that wexith in you to
be magnefied bi oure reule in abundaunce, |
15 and we boast not ourselves
out of measure in other men's labors: yee and we hope, When your faith is
increased among you, to be magnified according to our measure more largely: |
15 and we bost not oure selves
out of measure in other mens labours. Ye and we hope when youre fayth is
increased amoge you to be magnified acordynge to oure measure more largely |
15 and boast not oure selues out
of measure in other mens laboures: Yee and we hope whan youre faith is
increased in you, that we wil come farther (acordinge to oure measure) |
15 Not boasting of things which
are without our measure: that is, of other mens labours: and we hope, when
your faith shall increase, to bee magnified by you according to our line
aboundantly, |
15
And we boast not our selues out of measure in other mens labours: Yea, and we
hope, when your fayth is increased among you, to be magnified accordyng to
our measure aboundauntly, |
15 Not boasting of things
without our measure, that is, of other mens labours, but hauing hope, when
your faith is increased, that wee shall bee enlarged by you, according to our
rule abundantly. {enlarged…: or, magnified in you} |

these thingis that ben maad redi. |
16 And to preach the gospel in
those regions which are beyond you: and not to rejoice of that which is by
another man's measure prepared all ready. |
16 and to preache ye gospell in
those regions which are beyode you: and not to reioyce of that which is by
another mans measure prepared all redy. |
16 and preach the Gospell vnto
them that dwell beyonde you, and not to reioyse in that, which is prepared
with another mans measure. |
16 And to preache the Gospel in
those regions which are beyonde you: not to reioyce in another mans line,
that is, in the thinges that are prepared alreadie. |
16
And that I shall preache the Gospell, in those [regions] which [are] beyonde

prepared alredy. |
16 To preach the Gospel in the
regions beyond you, and not to boast in another mans line of things made
ready to our hand. {line: or, rule} |
10:17 |
17 He that glorieth, haue glorie
in the Lord. |
17 Let him that rejoiceth,
rejoice in the lord. |
17 Let him yt reioyseth reioyce
in the lorde. |
17 Let him that reioyseth,
reioyse in the LORDE: |
17 But let him that reioyceth,
reioyce in the Lord. |
17 But let hym
that glorieth, glorie in the Lorde. |
17 But he that glorieth, let him
glory in the Lord. |
10:18 |
18 For not he that comendith hym
silf is preuyd, but whom God comendith. |
18 For he that praiseth himself,
is not allowed: but he whom the lord praiseth. |
18 For he that prayseth him
silfe is not alowed: but he whom the lorde prayseth. |
18 for he yt prayseth him selfe,
is not alowed, but he who ye LORDE prayseth. |
18 For hee that praiseth
himselfe, is not alowed, but he whome the Lord praiseth. |
18
For he that prayseth hymselfe, is not alowed, but whom the Lorde
prayseth. |
18 For, not he that commendeth
himselfe is approued, but whom the Lord commendeth. |
11:1 |
1 I wolde that ye wolden suffre
a litil thing of myn vnwisdom, but also supporte ye me. |
1 ¶ Would to God, ye could

1 Wolde to god ye coulde suffre

1 Wolde God ye coulde suffre me
a litle in my foloshnes, yet do ye forbeare me. |
1 Woulde to God, yee coulde
suffer a litle my foolishnes, and in deede, ye suffer me. |
1
Would to God ye coulde haue suffred me a litle in my foolishnesse: and in
dede ye do forbeare me. |
1 Would to God you could beare

11:2 |
2 For Y loue you bi the loue of
God; for Y haue spousid you to oon hosebonde, to yelde a chast virgyn to

2 For i am jealous over you with
godly jealousy. For i coupled you to one man, to make you a chaste virgin to
Christ: |
2 For I am gelous over you with
godly gelousy. For I coupled you to one man to make you a chaste virgen to
Christ. |
2 For I am gelous ouer you wt
godly gelousy. For I haue maried you vnto one ma, to brynge a chaste virgin
vnto Christ. |
2 For I am ielous ouer you, with
godly ielousie: for I haue prepared you for one husband, to present you as a
pure virgine to Christ: |
2
For I am gelous ouer you, with Godly gelousie: For I haue coupled you to one
man, to present [you] a chaste virgin vnto Christe. |
2 For I am iealous ouer you with
godly iealousie, for I haue espoused you to one husband, that I may present

11:3 |
3 But Y drede, lest as the
serpent disseyuede Eue with his sutil fraude, so youre wittis ben corrupt,
and fallen doun fro the symplenesse that is in Crist. |
3 But i fear lest as the serpent
beguiled Eve, thorow his subtlety, even so your wits should be corrupt from
the singleness that is in Christ. |
3 But I feare lest as the
serpent begyled Eve thorow his sutteltie even so youre wittes shuld be
corrupte from the singlenes that is in Christ. |
3 But I feare, lest as ye serpet
begyled Eue wt his sutteltie, eue so yor wyttes shulde be corrupte from the
synglenesse that is in Christ. |
3 But I feare least as the
serpent beguiled Eue through his subtiltie, so your mindes shoulde be corrupt
from the simplicitie that is in Christ. |
3
But I feare lest by any meanes, that as the serpent begyled Eue through his
subtiltie, euen so your myndes shoulde be corrupted fro the singlenesse that
is towarde Christe. |
3 But I feare lest by any
meanes, as the Serpent beguiled Eue through his subtilty, so your mindes
should bee corrupted from the simplicitie that is in Christ. |
11:4 |
4 For if he that cometh,
prechith anothir Crist, whom we precheden not, or if ye taken another spirit,
whom ye token not, or another gospel, which ye resseyueden not, riytli ye

4 For if he that cometh to you
preach another Iesus than him whom we preached: or if ye receive another
spirit than that which ye have received: either another gospel than that ye
have received, ye might right well have been content. |
4 For if he that commeth preache
another Iesus then hym whom we preached: or if ye receave another sprete then
that which ye have receaved: other another gospell then that ye have receaved
ye myght right wel have bene content. |
4 For yf he that commeth vnto
you, preach another Iesus, whom we haue not preached, or yf ye receaue
another sprete, yt ye haue not receaued, or another Gospell which ye haue not
accepted, ye might right well haue bene cotent. |
4 For if he that commeth,
preacheth another Iesus whome we haue not preached: or if yee receiue another
spirite whome ye haue not receiued: either another Gospell, which yee haue
not receiued, ye might well haue suffered him. |
4
For yf he that commeth, preacheth another Iesus, whom we haue not preached:
or yf ye receaue another spirite whom ye haue not receaued: either another
Gospell which ye haue not receaued, you woulde well haue suffered [hym]. |
4 For if he that commeth
preacheth another Iesus whome wee haue not preached, or if yee receiue
another spirit, which ye haue not receiued, or another Gospel, which ye haue
not accepted, yee might well beare with him. {with him: or, with me} |
11:5 |
5 For Y wene that Y haue don no

5 ¶ i suppose that i was not
behind the chief Apostles. |
5 I suppose that I was not
behynde ye chefe apostles. |
5 For I suppose that I am no
lesse the the hye Apostles are. |
5 Verely I suppose that I was
not inferior to the very chiefe Apostles. |
5
Ueryly I suppose that I was not behynde the chiefe Apostles. |
5 For, I suppose, I was not a
whit behinde the very chiefest Apostles. |
11:6 |
6 For thouy Y be vnlerud in
word, but not in kunnyng. For in alle thingis Y am open to you. |
6 Though i be rude in speaking,
yet i am not so in knowledge. How be it among you we are known to the utmost
what we are in all things. |
6 Though I be rude in speakynge
yet I am not so in knowledge. How be it amonge you we are knowen to the
vtmost what we are in all thynges. |
6 And though I be rude in
speakynge, yet am I not rude in knowlege. Howbeit amoge you I am knowne to
the vttemost. |
6 And though I be rude in
speaking, yet I am not so in knowledge, but among you wee haue beene made
manifest to the vttermost, in all things. |
6
But though [I be] rude in speakyng, yet not in knowledge, but in all thynges
among you, we haue ben well knowen to the vtmost. |
6 But though I be rude in
speach, yet not in knowledge; but we haue bene throughly made manifest among
you in all things. |
11:7 |
7 Or whether Y haue don synne,
mekynge my silf, that ye be enhaunsid, for freli Y prechide to you the gospel
of God? |
7 Did i therein sin, because i
submitted myself, that ye might be exalted? and because i preached to you the
gospel to you free? |
7 Did I therin synne be cause I
submitted my silfe that ye myght be exalted and because I preached to you the
gospell of God fre? |
7 Or dyd I synne therin because
I submytted my selfe, that ye mighte be exalted? For I preached vnto you the
Gospell of God frely, |
7 Haue I committed an offence,
because I abased my selfe, that ye might be exalted, and because I preached
to you ye Gospell of God freely? |
7
Dyd I sinne because I submitted my selfe, that ye myght be exalted, &
because I preached to you the Gospell of God freely? |
7 Haue I committed an offence in
abasing my selfe, that you might be exalted, because I haue preached to you
the Gospel of God freely? |
11:8 |
8 Y made nakid othere chirchis,
and Y took sowde to youre seruyce. |
8 i robbed other congregations,
and took wages of them, to do you service with all. |
8 I robbed other congregacions
and toke wages of the to do you service with all. |
8 and robbed other cogregacions,
and toke wages of the, to preach vnto you. |
8 I robbed other Churches, and
tooke wages of them to doe you seruice. |
8
I robbed other Churches, takyng wages of them, to do you seruice. |
8 I robbed other Churches,
taking wages of them to doe you seruice. |
11:9 |
9 And whanne Y was among you,
and hadde nede, Y was chargeouse to no man; for britheren that camen fro
Macedonye, fulfilliden that that failide to me. And in alle thingis Y haue
kept, and schal kepe me with outen charge to you. |
9 And when i was present with
you and had need, i was grievous to no man. For that which was lacking unto
me, the brethren which came from Macedonia supplied: and in all things i kept
myself that i should not be grievous to you: and so will i keep myself. |
9 And when I was present with
yov and had nede I was greuous to no man for that which was lackynge vnto me
the brethren which came from Macedonia supplied: and in all thynges I kept my
silfe that I shuld not be greveous to you: and so will I kepe my silfe. |
9 And whan I was present with
you, and had nede, I was greuous to no man: for yt which was lackynge vnto
me, the brethren which came fro Macedonia, suppleed. And in all thinges I
kepte myselfe so, yt I shulde not be greuous to you, & so wyl I kepe my
self |
9 And when I was present with
you, and had neede, I was not slouthfull to the hinderance of any man: for
that which was lacking vnto me, the brethre which came from Macedonia,
supplied, and in all thinges I kept and will keepe my selfe, that I should
not be grieuous to you. |
9
And when I was present with you, and had nede, I was chargeable to no man:
for that which was lackyng vnto me, the brethren which came from Macedonia
supplied, and in all thynges I haue kept my selfe so that I shoulde not be
chargeable to any man, and [so] wyll I kepe my selfe. |
9 And when I was present with
you, and wanted, I was chargeable to no man: For that which was lacking to
mee, the brethren which came from Macedonia supplied, and in all things I
haue kept my selfe from being burthensome to you, and so will I keepe my selfe. |
11:10 |
10 The treuthe of Crist is in
me; for this glorie schal not be brokun in me in the cuntreis of Acaie. |
10 ¶ If the truth of Christ be
in me, this rejoicing shall not be taken from me in the regions of Achaia. |
10 Yf the trueth of Christ be in
me this ieioysynge shall not be taken from me in the regions of Achaia. |
10 As surely as the trueth of
Christ is in me, this reioysinge shal not be taken fro me in the regions of
Achaia. |
10 The trueth of Christ is in
me, that this reioycing shall not be shut vp against me in the regions of
Achaia. |
10
The trueth of Christe is in me, that this reioycyng shall not be shut vp
agaynst me in the regions of Achaia. |
10 As the trueth of Christ is in
mee, no man shall stop mee of this boasting in the regions of Achaia. {no

11:11 |
11 Whi? for Y loue not you? |
11 Wherefore? because i love you
not? God knoweth. |
11 Wherfore? Be cause I love you
not? God knoweth. |
11 Wherfore? because I shulde
not loue you? God knoweth. |
11 Wherefore? because I loue you
not? God knoweth. |
11 Wherfore?
Because I loue you not? God knoweth. |
11 Wherefore? because I loue you
not? God knoweth. |
11:12 |
12 God woot. For that that Y do,
and that Y schal do, is that Y kitte awei the occasioun of hem that wolen
occasioun, that in the thing, in which thei glorien, thei be foundun as we. |
12 Nevertheless what i do, that
will i do to cut away occasion from them which desire occasion, that they
might be found like unto us in that wherein they rejoice: |
12 Neverthe lesse what I doo
that will I do to cut awaye occasion from them which desyre occasion that
they myght be founde lyke vnto vs in that wherin they reioyce. |
12 Neuertheles what I do and wyl
do, that do I to cut awaye occasion, from the which seke occasion, that they
mighte boast the selues to be like vnto vs. |
12 But what I doe, that will I
doe: that I may cut away occasion from them which desire occasion, that they
might be found like vnto vs in that wherein they reioyce. |
12
But what I do, that wyll I do, to cut away occasion from them which desire
occasion, that they myght be founde lyke vnto vs, in yt wherin they
gloried. |
12 But what I doe, that I wil
doe, that I may cut off occasion from them which desire occasion, that
wherein they glory, they may bee found euen as we. |
11:13 |
13 For siche false apostlis ben
trecherouse werk men, and transfiguren hem in to apostlis of Crist. |
13 For these false apostles are
deceitful workers, and fashion them selves like unto the Apostles of Christ. |
13 For these falce apostles are
disceatefull workers and fassion them selves lyke vnto ye apostles of Christ. |
13 For soch false Apostles &
disceatfull workers fashion them selues like vnto the Apostles of Christ. |
13 For such false apostles are
deceitfull workers, and transforme themselues into the Apostles of Christ. |
13
For such false Apostles [are] disceiptfull workers, transfourmed into ye
Apostles of Christe. |
13 For such are false Apostles,
deceitfull workers, transforming themselues into the Apostles of Christ. |
11:14 |
14 And no wondur, for Sathanas
hym silf transfigurith hym in to an aungel of light. |
14 And no marvel, for Satan
himself is changed into the fashion of an angel of light. |
14 And no marvayle for satan him
silfe is chaunged into the fassion of an angell of light. |
14 And that is no maruell: for
Sathan himfelfe is chaunged in to ye fashion of an angell of light. |
14 And no marueile: for Satan
himselfe is transformed into an Angel of light. |
14
And no maruayle, for Satan himselfe is transfourmed into an angel of
lyght. |
14 And no marueile, for Sathan
himselfe is transformed into an Angel of light. |
11:15 |
15 Therfor it is not greet, if
hise mynystris ben transfigurid as the mynystris of riytwisnesse, whos ende
schal be aftir her werkis. |
15 Therefore it is no great
thing, though his ministers fashion themselves as though they were the
ministers of righteousness: whose end shall be according to their deeds. |
15 Therfore it is no great
thynge though his ministers fassion them selves as though they were the
ministers of rightewesnes: whose ende shalbe acordynge to their dedes. |
15 Therfore is it no greate
thinge, though his mymisters fashion them selues as though they were the
preachers of righteousnes, whose ende shalbe acordinge to their dedes. |
15 Therefore it is no great
thing, though his ministers transforme themselues, as though they were the
ministers of righteousnes, whose end shall be according to their workes. |
15
Therfore it is no great thyng though his ministers be transfourmed as the
ministers of righteousnesse, whose ende shalbe accordyng to their
workes. |
15 Therefore it is no great
thing if his ministers also bee transformed as the ministers of
righteousnesse, whose end shall be according to their workes. |
11:16 |
16 Eft Y seie, lest ony man
gesse me to be vnwise; ellis take ye me as vnwise, that also Y haue glorie a
litil what. |
16 ¶ i say again lest any man
think that i am foolish: or else even now take me as a fool, that i may boast
myself a little. |
16 I saye agayne lest eny man
thynke yt I am folishe: or els eve now take me as a fole that I maye bost my
silfe a lytell. |
16 I saye agayne, lest eny man
thynke that I am folish: or els take me euen now as a fole, yt I maye boast
my selfe a litle also. |
16 I say againe, Let no man
thinke that I am foolish, or els take mee euen as a foole, that I also may
boast my selfe a litle. |
16
I say agayne, let no man thynke that I am foolyshe: or els euen nowe take ye
me as a foole, that I also may boast my selfe a litle. |
16 I say againe, Let no man
thinke mee a foole; if otherwise, yet as a foole receiue me, that I may boast
my selfe a little. {receive: or, suffer} |
11:17 |
17 That that Y speke, Y speke
not aftir God, but as in vnwisdom, in this substaunce of glorie. |
17 That i speak, i speak it not
after the ways of the lord: but as it were foolishly, while we are now come
to boasting. |
17 That I speake I speake it not
after the wayes of the lorde: but as it were folysshly whill we are now come
to bostynge. |
17 That I speake now, that
speake I not after the LORDE, but as it were in folishnes, whyle we are now
come to boastinge: |
17 That I speake, I speake it
not after the Lord: but as it were foolishly, in this my great boasting. |
17
That I speake, I speake it not after the Lorde: but as it were foolishly, in
this maner of boastyng. |
17 That which I speake, I speake
it not after the Lord, but as it were foolishly in this confidence of
boasting. |
11:18 |
18 For many men glorien aftir
the fleisch, and Y schal glorie. |
18 Seeing that many rejoice
after the flesh i will rejoice also. |
18 Seynge that many reioyce
after ye flesshe I will reioyce also. |
18 Seynge that many boaste them
selues after ye flesh, I wil boast my selfe also. |
18 Seeing that many reioyce
after the flesh, I will reioyce also. |
18
Seyng that many glorie after ye fleshe, I wyll glorie also. |
18 Seeing that many glory after
the flesh, I will glory also. |
11:19 |
19 For ye suffren gladli vnwise
men, whanne ye silf ben wise. |
19 For ye suffer fools gladly
because that ye yourselves are wise. |
19 For ye suffre foles gladly be
cause that ye youre selves are wyse. |
19 For ye suffre foles gladly,
in so moch as ye youre selues are wyse. |
19 For ye suffer fooles gladly,
because that yee are wise. |
19
For ye suffer fooles gladly, seyng ye your selues are wyse. |
19 For ye suffer fooles gladly,
seeing ye your selues are wise. |
11:20 |
20 For ye susteynen, if ony man
dryueth you in to seruage, if ony man deuourith, if ony man takith, if ony
man is enhaunsid, if ony man smytith you on the face. |
20 For ye suffer even if a man
bring you into bondage: if a man devour: if a man take: if a man exalt
himself: if a man smite you on the face. |
20 For ye suffre even if a man
brynge you into bondage: yf a ma devoure: yf a man take: yf a man exalt hym
silfe: yf a man smyte you on the face. |
20 For ye suffre euen yf a man
brynge you in to bondage, yf a man put you to dishonesty, yf a man take ought
fro you, yf a man exalte himselfe ouer you, yf a man smyte you on the face. |
20 For ye suffer, euen if a man
bring you into bondage, if a man deuoure you, if a man take your goods, if a
man exalt himselfe, if a man smite you on the face. |
20
For ye suffer, yf a man bryng you into bondage, yf a man deuoure, yf a man
take, yf a man exalt hym selfe, yf a man smite you on the face. |
20 For ye suffer if a man bring
you into bondage, if a man deuoure you, if a man take of you, if a man exalt
himselfe, if a man smite you on the face. |
11:21 |

21 I speake concernynge rebuke,
as though we were weake.Wherin so euer now eny man darre be bolde (I speake

21 I speake as concerning the

21
I speake concernyng reproche, as though we had ben weake: Howbeit, wherin

12:5 |
5 For such maner thingis Y schal
glorie; but for me no thing, no but in myn infirmytees. |
5 Of this man will i rejoice, of
myself will i not rejoice, except it be of mine infirmities: |
5 Of this man will I reioyce of
my silfe will I not reioyce except it be of myne infirmities. |
5 Here of will I boast, but of
my selfe wil I make no boast, excepte it be of myne infirmyties. |
5 Of such a man will I reioyce:
of my selfe will I not reioyce, except it bee of mine infirmities. |
5
Of such a man wyll I glorie, yet of my selfe wyll I not glorie, but in myne
infirmities. |
5 Of such a one will I glory,
yet of my selfe I will not glory, but in mine infirmities. |
12:6 |
6 For if Y schal wilne to
glorie, Y schal not be vnwijs, for Y schal seie treuthe; but Y spare, lest
ony man gesse me ouer that thing that he seeth in me, or herith ony thing of
me. |
6 and yet though i would rejoice
i should not be a fool: for i would say the truth. Nevertheless i spare, lest
any man should think of me above that he seeth me to be, or heareth of me. |
6 And yet though I wolde reioyce
I shuld not be a fole: for I wolde saye the trouthe. Neverthe lesse I spare
lest eny man shuld thynke of me above that he seith me to be or heareth of
me. |
6 And though I wolde boast my
selfe, I dyd not foolishly, for I wolde saye the trueth. But I refrayne my
selfe, lest eny ma shulde thinke of me aboue yt he seyth in me, or heareth of
me. |
6 For though I woulde reioyce, I
should not be a foole, for I will say the trueth: but I refraine, lest any
man should thinke of me aboue that hee seeth in me, or that he heareth of me. |
6
For though I woulde desire to glorie, I shall not be a foole, for I wyll say
the trueth: but I nowe refrayne, lest any man shoulde thynke of me, aboue
that which he seeth me to be, or yt he heareth of me. |
6 For though I would desire to
glory, I shall not be a foole: for I will say the trueth. But now I forbeare,
lest any man should thinke of me aboue that which hee seeth me to bee, or
that hee heareth of me: |
12:7 |
7 And lest the greetnesse of
reuelaciouns enhaunse me in pride, the pricke of my fleisch, an aungel of
Sathanas, is youun to me, that he buffate me. |
7 ¶ And lest i should be exalted
out of measure thorow the abundance of revelations, there was given unto me
of God unquietness of the flesh, the messenger of Satan to buffet me: because
i should not be exalted out of measure. |
7 And lest I shuld be exalted
out of measure thorow the aboundance of revelacions ther was geven vnto me
vnquyetnes of the flesshe the messenger of Satan to buffet me: be cause I
shuld not be exalted out of measure |
7 And lest I shulde exalte my
selfe out of measure because of the hye reuelacions, there is a warnynge
geuen vnto my flesh, euen ye messaunger of Satan, to buffet me, that I shulde
not exalte my selfe out off measure: |
7 And lest I should be exalted
out of measure through the aboundance of reuelations, there was giuen vnto me
a pricke in the flesh, the messenger of Satan to buffet mee, because I should
not be exalted out of measure. |
7
And lest I shoulde be exalted out of measure through the aboundaunce of the
reuelations, there was geuen vnto me a pricke to the fleshe, the messenger of
Satan to buffet me, because I should not be exalted out of measure. |
7 And least I should bee exalted
aboue measure through the abundance of the reuelations, there was giuen to me
a thorne in the flesh, the messenger of Sathan to buffet me, lest I should be
exalted aboue measure. |
12:8 |
8 For whiche thing thries Y

8 For this thing besought i the

8 For this thynge besought I the

8 for ye which I besoughte the

8 For this thing I besought the
Lord thrise, that it might depart from me. |
8
For this thyng besought I the Lorde thryse, that it myght depart from
me. |
8 For this thing I besought the
Lord thrice, that it might depart from mee. |
12:9 |
9 And he seide to me, My grace
suffisith to thee; for vertu is parfitli maad in infirmyte. Therfor gladli Y
schal glorie in myn infirmytees, that the vertu of Crist dwelle in me. |
9 and he said unto me: my grace
is sufficient for thee. For my strength is made perfect throu weakness. Very
gladly therefore will i rejoice of my weakness, that the strength of Christ
may dwell in me. |
9 And he sayde vnto me: my grace
is sufficient for the. For my stregth is made perfact thorow weaknes. Very
gladly therfore will I reioyce of my weaknes that the strength of Christ maye
dwell in me |
9 And he sayde vnto me: My grace
is sufficiet for the. For my strength is made perfecte thorow weaknes. Very
glad therfore wil I reioyse in my weaknesses, that the strength of Christ
maye dwell in me. |
9 And he said vnto me, My grace
is sufficient for thee: for my power is made perfect through weakenesse. Very
gladly therefore will I reioyce rather in mine infirmities, that the power of
Christ may dwell in me. |
9
And he sayde vnto me: My grace is sufficient for thee. For my strength is
made perfect in weakenesse. Most gladly therfore, I wyll rather glorie in my
infirmities, that the power of Christ myght dwell in me. |
9 And he said vnto me, My grace
is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weaknes. Most
gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of
Christ may rest vpon me. |
12:10 |
10 For which thing Y am plesid
in myn infirmytees, in dispisyngis, in nedis, in persecuciouns, in
anguyschis, for Crist; for whanne Y am sijk, thanne Y am miyti. |
10 Therefore have i delectation
in infirmities, in rebukes, in need, in persecutions, in anguish, for
Christi's sake. For when i am weak, then am i strong. |
10 Therfore have I delectacion
in infirmities in rebukes in nede in persecucions in anguyshe for Christis
sake. For when I am weake then am I stronge. |
10 Therfore am I contente in
infirmities, in rebukes, in necessities, in persecucions, in anguysshes for
Christes sake: for wha I am weake, the am I stroge. |
10 Therefore I take pleasure in
infirmities, in reproches, in necessities, in persecutions, in anguish for
Christes sake: for when I am weake, then am I strong. |
10
Therfore haue I delectation in infirmities, in rebukes, in necessities, in
persecutions, in anguishes for Christes sake: For when I am weake, then am I
strong. |
10 Therefore I take pleasure in
infirmities, in reproches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for
Christes sake: for when I am weake, then am I strong. |
12:11 |
11 Y am maad vnwitti, ye

11 ¶ i am made a fool in
boasting myself. Ye have compelled me: i ought to have been commended of you.
For in nothing was i inferior unto the chief apostles, though i be nothing, |
11 I am made a fole in bostynge
my silfe. Ye have copelled me: I ought to have bene comeded of you. For in
nothinge was I inferior vnto ye chefe apostels Though I be nothynge |
11 I am become a fole i
boastinge my selfe: Ye haue copelled me. For I oughte to be comended of you,
in so moch as I am in nothinge inferior to ye hye Apostles. Though I be

11 I was a foole to boast my

in nothing was I inferiour vnto the very chiefe Apostles, though I bee

11
I am become a foole [in] gloriyng. Ye haue compelled me: for I ought to haue
ben commended of you. For nothyng was I inferiour vnto the chiefe Apostles,
though I be nothyng, |
11 I am become a foole in
glorying, ye haue compelled me. For I ought to haue beene commended of you:
for in nothing am I behinde the very chiefest Apostles, though I be nothing. |
12:12 |
12 Thouy Y am nouyt, netheles

12 yet the tokens of an apostle

deeds. |
12 yet ye tokes of an apostle
were wrought amoge you with all pacience: with signes and wonders and myghty
dedes. |
12 yet are ye tokens of an
Apostle wrought amoge you, with all paciece, with signes, & with woders
& with mightie dedes. |
12 The signes of an Apostle were
wrought among you with all patience, with signes, and wonders, and great
workes. |
12
Truely the signes of an Apostle were wrought among you, in all patience, and
signes, and wonders, and myghtie deedes. |
12 Truely the signes of an
Apostle were wrought among you in all patience, in signes and wonders, and
mightie deeds. |
12:13 |
13 And what is it, that ye

Foryyue ye to me this wrong. |
13 For what is it wherein ye

13 For what is it wherin ye were
inferiors vnto other cogregacions except it be therin that I was not greveous
vnto you. Forgeve me this wronge done vnto you. |
13 For what is it, wherin ye are
inferiours to the other congregacions? excepte it be yt I haue not bene
greuous vnto you.Forgeue me this wroge. |
13 For what is it, wherein yee

13
For what is it, wherin ye were inferiour vnto other Churches, except [it be]

13 For what is it wherein yee

12:14 |
14 Lo! this thridde tyme Y am
redi to come to you, and Y schal not be greuous to you; for Y seke not tho
thingis that ben youre, but you. For nether sones owen to tresoure to fadir
and modir, but the fadir and modir to the sones. |
14 Behold now the third time i
am ready to come unto you, neither will i be grievous unto you. For i seek
not yours but you. Also the children ought not to lay up for the fathers and
mothers: but the fathers and mothers for the children. |
14 Beholde now ye thyrde tyme I
am redy to come vnto you: and yet will I not be grevous vnto you. For I seke
not youres but you. Also the children ought not to laye vp for the fathers
and mothers: but the fathers and mothers for the children. |
14 Beholde, I am ready the
thirde tyme to come vnto you, and wyl not be chargeable vnto you. For I seke
not youres, but you. For ye childre ought not to gather treasure for the
elders, but the elders for the children. |
14 Behold, the thirde time I am
ready to come vnto you, and yet will I not be slouthfull to your hinderance:
for I seeke not yours, but you: for the children ought not to laye vp for the

14
Beholde, nowe the thirde tyme I am redy to come vnto you, and yet wyll I not

14 Behold, the third time I am

12:15 |
15 For Y schal yyue moost

15 ¶ i will very gladly bestow,

15 I will very gladly bestowe

15 I wil very gladly bestowe,
and wyl be bestowed for youre soules: though ye more I loue you, the lesse am
I loued agayne. |
15 And I will most gladly

15
I wyll very gladly bestowe, & wylbe bestowed for your sakes, though the

15 And I wil very gladly spend

12:16 |
16 But be it; Y greuyde not you,
but whanne Y was sutil, Y took you with gile. |
16 But be it that i grieved you

16 But be it yt I greved you

16 But let it be so that I

16 But bee it that I charged you
not: yet for as much as I was craftie, I tooke you with guile. |
16
But be it, [that] I was not chargeable vnto you: Neuerthelesse, when I was
craftie, I caught you with guile. |
16 But be it so: I did not
burthen you: neuerthelesse beeing craftie, I caught you with guile. |

3 Whether ye seken the preef of

3 seynge yt ye seke experience
of Christ which speaketh in me which amoge you is not weake but is myghty in

13:4 |
4 For thouy he was crucified of
infirmyte, but he lyueth of the vertu of God. For also we ben sijk in hym,
but we schulen lyue with him of the vertu of God in vs. |
4 And verily though it came of
weakness that he was crucified, yet liveth he thorow the power of God: and we
no doubt are weak in him: but we shall live with him, by the might that God
gave us to youward. |
4 And verely though it came of
weaknes that he was crucified yet liveth he thorow the power of God. And we
no dout are weake in him: but we shall live with him by the myght of God
amonge you. |
4 And though he was crucified in

yet lyue we with him in the power of God amonge you. |
4 For though hee was crucified
concerning his infirmitie, yet liueth hee through the power of God. And wee
no doubt are weake in him, but we shall liue with him, through the power of
God towarde you. |
4
For though he was crucified of weakenesse, yet liueth he of the power of God.
And we no doubt, are weake in hym: but we shall lyue with hym, by ye might of
God towarde you. |
4 For though hee was crucified
through weaknesse, yet he liueth by the power of God: for wee also are weake
in him, but wee shall liue with him by the power of God toward you. {in him:
or, with him} |
13:5 |
5 Asaie you silf, if ye ben in
the feith; ye you silf preue. Whether ye knowen not you silf, for Crist Jhesu
is in you? but in happe ye ben repreuable. |
5 ¶ Prove yourselves whether ye
are in the faith or not. Examine your own selves: know ye not your own
selves, how that Iesus Christ is in you? except ye be castaways. |
5 Prove youre selves whether ye
are in the fayth or not. Examen youre owne selves: knowe ye not youre awne
selves how that Iesus Christ is in you excepte ye be castawayes? |
5 Proue youre selues, whether ye
are in the faith, exame youre selues. Or knowe ye not yor selues, yt Iesus
Christ is in you? Excepte ye be cast awayes. |
5 Proue your selues whether ye
are in the faith: examine your selues: knowe yee not your owne selues, howe
that Iesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates? |
5
Examine your selues, whether ye are in the fayth: Proue your owne selues.
Knowe ye not your owne selues, howe that Iesus Christe is in you? except ye
be reprobates. |
5 Examine your selues, whether
ye be in the faith: proue your owne selues. Know yee not your owne selues,
how that Iesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates? |
13:6 |
6 But Y hope, that ye knowen,
that we ben not repreuable. |
6 i trust that ye shall know
that we are not castaways. |
6 I trust that ye shall knowe yt
we are not castawayes. |
6 But I trust ye knowe, yt we
are not cast awayes. |
6 But I trust that ye shall
knowe that wee are not reprobates. |
6 I trust ye
shal knowe that we are not reprobates. |
6 But I trust that yee shall
knowe that we are not reprobates. |
13:7 |
7 And we preien the Lord, that
ye do no thing of yuel; not that we seme preued, but that ye do that that is
good, and that we ben as repreuable. |
7 i desire before God that ye do
none evil, not that we should seem commendable: but that ye should do, that
which is honest: and let us be counted as lewd persons. |
7 I desyre before God that ye do
none evyll not that we shuld seme comendable: but that ye shuld do that which
is honest: and let vs be counted as leawde persones. |
7 I desyre before God yt ye do

good, & let vs be as cast awayes. |
7 Nowe I pray vnto God that yee
doe none euill, not that we should seeme approued, but that ye should doe
that which is honest: though we be as reprobates. |
7
Truely I pray to God that ye do none euyll, not that we shoulde seeme
approued: but yt ye shoulde do that which is honest, though we be as
reprobates. |
7 Now I pray to God, that ye doe
no euill, not that we should appeare approued, but that ye should doe that
which is honest, though we be as reprobates. |
13:8 |
8 For we moun no thing ayens

8 We can do nothing against the
truth, but for the truth. |
8 We can do no thinge agaynst

8 For we maye do nothinge
agaynst ye trueth, but for ye trueth. |
8 For wee can not doe any thing
against the trueth, but for the trueth. |
8
For we can do nothyng agaynst the trueth: but for the trueth. |
8 For wee can doe nothing
against the trueth, but for the trueth. |
13:9 |
9 For we ioyen, whanne we ben
sijk, but ye ben myyti; and we preien this thing, youre perfeccioun. |
9 We are glad when we are weak,
and ye strong. This also we wish for, even that ye were perfect. |
9 We are glad when we are weake
and ye stronge. This also we wisshe for even that ye were perfect. |
9 We are glad whan we are weake,
& ye stronge: & the same also we wysshe for, namely yor perfectnesse. |
9 For we are glad when wee are
weake, and that ye are strong: this also we wish for, euen your perfection. |
9
For we are glad when we are weake, and ye are strong. Truely this also we
wishe, euen your perfection. |
9 For wee are glad when wee are
weake, and ye are strong: and this also we wish, euen your perfection.
{perfection: or, reformation, or, restoration} |

10 Therfore write I these
