12 For which thing Y schal

12 ¶ Wherefore i will not be
negligent to put you allways in remembrance of such things, though that ye
know them yourselves and be also stablished in the present truth. |
12 Wherfore I will not be
necgligent to put you allwayes in remembraunce of soche thinges though that
ye knowe them youre selves and be also stablisshed in the present trueth. |
12 Therfore wil I not be

1:13 |
13 Forsothe Y deme iustli, as
long as Y am in this tabernacle, to reise you in monesting; and Y am certeyn, |
13 Notwithstanding i think it
mete (as long as i am in this tabernacle) to stir you up by putting you in
remembrance, |
13 Notwithstodinge I thynke yt
mete (as longe as I am in this tabernacle) to stere you vp by puttynge you in
remebraunce |
13 Notwithstondinge I thinke it
mete, as loge as I am in this tabernacle, to stere you vp by puttinge you in
remembraunce. |
13 For I thinke it meete as long
as I am in this tabernacle, to stirre you vp by putting you in remembrance, |
13
Notwithstandyng I thynke it meete, as long as I am in this tabernacle, to
stirre you vp by puttyng you in remembraunce: |
13 Yea, I thinke it meete, as
long as I am in this tabernacle, to stirre you vp, by putting you in
remembrance: |
1:14 |
14 that the putting awei of my
tabernacle is swift, bi this that oure Lord Jhesu Crist hath schewid to me. |
14 for as much as i am sure how
that the time is at hand that i must put off this my tabernacle, even as our
lord Iesus Christ hath shewed me. |
14 for as moch as I am sure howe
that the tyme is at honde yt I must put of my tabernacle even as oure lorde
Iesus Christ hath shewed me. |
14 For I am sure, that I must
shortly put of my tabernacle, euen as oure LORDE Iesus Christ hath shewed

14 Seeing I knowe that the time
is at hand that I must lay downe this my tabernacle, euen as our Lord Iesus
Christ hath shewed me. |
14
Forasmuch as I am sure that shortly I must put of this my tabernacle, euen as
our Lorde Iesus Christe shewed me. |
14 Knowing that shortly I must
put off this my Tabernacle, euen as our Lord Iesus Christ hath shewed mee. |
1:15 |
15 But Y schal yyue bisynesse,
and ofte after my deth ye haue mynde of these thingis. |
15 i will enforce therefore,
that on every side ye might have wherewith to stir up the remembrance of
these things after my departing. |
15 I will enfource therfore that
on every syde ye myght have wherwith to stere vp the remembraunce of these
thynges after my departynge. |
15 Yet wyl I do my diligece,
that allwaye after my departynge ye maye haue wherwith to kepe these thinges
in remembraunce. |
15 I will endeuour therefore
alwayes, that ye also may be able to haue remembrance of these things after

15
I wyll euer also geue my diligence yt ye may haue wherwith to stirre vp the

15 Moreouer, I will endeuour,
that you may bee able after my decease, to haue these things alwayes in
remembrance. |
1:16 |
16 For we not suynge vnwise
talis, han maad knowun to you the vertu and the biforknowyng of oure Lord
Jhesu Crist; but we weren maad biholderis of his greetnesse. |
16 ¶ For we followed not
deceivable fables when we opened unto you the power, and coming of our lord
Iesus Christ: but with our eyes we saw his majesty. |
16 For we folowed not decevable
fables whe we openned vnto you the power and commynge of oure lorde Iesus
Christ but with oure eyes we sawe his maieste: |
16 For we folowed not
deceaueable fables, whan we declared vnto you the power and commynge of oure
LORDE Iesus Christ: but with oure eyes we sawe his maiestie, |
16 For we followed not
deceiuable fables when we opened vnto you the power, and comming of our Lord
Iesus Christ, but with our eyes we saw his maiestie: |
16
For we haue not folowed deceitfull fables, when we opened vnto you the power
and commyng of our Lorde Iesus Christe, but with our eyes we sawe his
maiestie: |
16 For wee haue not followed
cunningly deuised fables, when wee made knowen vnto you the power and comming
of our Lord Iesus Christ, but were eye witnesses of his Maiestie. |
1:17 |
17 For he took of God the fadir
onour and glorie, bi siche maner vois slidun doun to hym fro the greet

17 Even then verily when he
received of God the father honour and glory, and when there came such a voice
to him from that excellent glory. This is my dear beloved son, in whom i have
delight, |
17 even then verely when he
receaved of god the father honour and glory and when ther came soche a voyce
to him from excellent glorie. This is my dere beloved sonne in whom I have
delite. |
17 whan he receaued of God the
father honoure & prayse, by a voyce that came vnto him from the excellent
glory, after this maner: This is my deare sonne, in whom I haue delyte. |
17 For he receiued of God the
Father honour and glory, when there came such a voyce to him from that
excellent glory, This is my beloued Sonne, in whom I am well pleased. |
17
Euen then veryly when he receaued of God the father honour and glorie, &
when there came suche a voyce to hym from the excellent glorie: This is my
deare beloued sonne in whom I delyte. |
17 For hee receiued from God the
Father, honour and glory, when there came such a voice to him from the
excellent glory, This is my beloued Sonne in whom I am well pleased. |
1:18 |
18 And we herden this vois
brouyt from heuene, whanne we weren with hym in the hooli hil. |
18 this voice we heard when it
came from heaven, being with him in the holy mount. |
18 This voyce we hearde when it
came from heven beynge with him in the holy mounte. |
18 And this voyce herde we
broughte downe fro heauen, whan we were with him on the holy mount. |
18 And this voyce we heard when
it came from heauen, being with him in the Holy mount. |
18
This voyce we heard come from heauen, when we were with him in the holye
mount. |
18 And this voice which came
from heauen wee heard, when we were with him in the holy mount. |
1:19 |
19 And we han a saddere word of
prophecie, to which ye yyuynge tent don wel, as to a lanterne that yyueth
liyt in a derk place, til the dai bigynne to yyue liyt, and the dai sterre
sprenge in youre hertis. |
19 ¶ We have also a more sure
word of prophecy, whereunto if ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in
a dark place, ye do well, until the day dawn and the day star arise in your
hearts. |
19 We have also a right sure
worde of prophesye wher vnto yf ye take hede as vnto a lyght yt shyneth in a
darke place ye do wel vntill the daye dawne and the daye starre aryse in
youre hertes. |
19 We haue also a sure worde of
prophecie, and ye do well that ye take hede thervnto, as vnto a lighte that
shyneth in a darke place vntyll the daye dawne, and the daye starre aryse in
youre hertes. |
19 We haue also a most sure
worde of the Prophets, to the which ye doe well that yee take heede, as vnto
a light that shineth in a darke place, vntill the day dawne, and the day

19
We haue also a ryght sure worde of prophesie, wherevnto yf ye take heede, as

and the day starre arise in your heartes. |
19 We haue also a more sure word

1:20 |
20 And firste vndurstonde ye
this thing, that ech prophesie of scripture is not maad bi propre
interpretacioun; |
20 So that ye first know this,
that no prophecy in the scripture hath any private interpretation. |
20 So that ye fyrst knowe this.
that no prophesye in the scripture hath eny private interpretacio. |
20 And this shal ye knowe first,
that no prophecie in the scripture is done of eny priuate interpretacion. |
20 So that yee first knowe this,
that no prophecie of the Scripture is of any priuate interpretation. |
20
So that ye first knowe this, that no prophesie in the scripture is of any
priuate motion. |
20 Knowing this first, that no
prophecy of the Scripture is of any priuate Interpretation: |
1:21 |
21 for prophesie was not brouyt
ony tyme bi mannus wille, but the hooli men of God inspirid with the Hooli
Goost spaken. |
21 For the scripture came never
by the will of man: but wholy men of God spake as they were moved by the
wholy ghost. |
21 For the scripture came never
by the will of man: but holy men of god spake as they were moved by the holy
goost. |
21 For the prophecie was neuer
broughte by the wyll of man, but the holy men of God spake, as they were
moued of ye holy goost. |
21 For the prophecie came not in
olde time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moued by
the holy Ghost. |
21
For the prophesie came not in olde time by the wyll of man: but holy men of
God, spake as they were moued by the holy ghost. |
21 For the prophecie came not in
olde time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moued by
the holy Ghost. {in old time: or, at any time} |
2:1 |
1 But also false prophetis weren

bringen on hem silf hasti perdicioun. |
1 ¶ There were false prophets
among the people even as there shall be false teachers among you: which
privily shall bring in damnable sects, even denying the lord that hath bought
them, and bring on their own heads swift damnation, |
1 Ther were falce prophetes
amonge the people even as ther shalbe falce teachers amonge you: wich prevely

and brynge vpon them selves swyft damnacion |
1 Bvt there were false prophetes
also amonge the people, euen as there shalbe false teachers amonge you
likewyse, which preuely shal brynge in damnable sectes, euen denyenge the
LORDE that hath boughte them, and shal brynge vpon them selues swift damnacio |
1 Bvt there were false prophets
also among the people, euen as there shalbe false teachers among you: which
priuily shall bring in damnable heresies, euen denying the Lord, that hath

1
There were false prophetes also among the people, eue as there shalbe false
teachers among you, whiche pryuyly shal bryng in damnable heresies, euen
denying the Lorde that hath bought them, and bryng vpo them selues swyft

1 But there were false prophets
also among the people, euen as there shall bee false teachers among you, who
priuily shall bring in damnable heresies, euen denying the Lord that bought
them, and bring vpon themselues swift destruction. |
2:2 |
2 And many schulen sue her
letcheries, bi whiche the weie of treuthe schal be blasfemyd; |
2 and many shall follow their
damnable ways, by which the way of truth shall be evil spoken of, |
2 and many shall folowe their
damnable wayes by which the waye of trueth shalbe evyll spoken of |
2 and many shal folowe their
damnable wayes, by who the waye of the trueth shal be euell spoke of: |
2 And many shall follow their
destructions, by whom the way of trueth shalbe euil spoken of, |
2
And many shall folowe their damnable wayes, by whom the way of trueth shalbe
euyll spoken of: |
2 And many shall follow their
pernicious wayes, by reason of whom the way of trueth shall be euill spoken
of: {pernicious ways: or, lascivious ways, as some copies read} |
2:3 |
3 and thei schulen make
marchaundie of you in coueytise bi feyned wordis. To whiche doom now a while
ago ceessith not, and the perdicioun of hem nappith not. |
3 and thorow covetousness shall
they with feigned words make merchandise of you, whose judgment is not far
off, and their damnation sleepeth not. |
3 and thorow coveteousnes shall
they with fayned wordes make marchandyse of you whose iudgement is not farre

3 and thorow cuvetousnes shal

3 And through couetousnes shall
they with fained words make marchandise of you, whose condemnation long since
resteth not, and their destruction slumbreth not. |
3
And through couetousnesse, shall they with fayned wordes make marchaudize of
you, whose iudgement is nowe not farre of, and their damnation sleepeth
not. |
3 And through couetousnesse
shall they with fained words, make marchandise of you, whose iudgement now of
a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbreth not. |
2:4 |
4 For if God sparide not aungels
synnynge, but bitook hem to be turmentid, and to be drawun doun with boondis
of helle in to helle, to be kept in to dom; |
4 ¶ For if God spared not the
angels that sinned but cast them down into hell, and put them in chains of
darkness, there to be kept unto judgement: |
4 For yf god spared not the
angels that synned but cast them doune into hell and delyuered them in
chaynes of darknes to be kept vnto iudgement. |
4 For yf God spared not the
angels that synned, but cast them downe with the cheynes of darknes in to
hell, and delyuered the ouer to be kepte vnto iudgment: |
4 For if God spared not the
Angels that had sinned, but cast them downe into hell, and deliuered them
into chaines of darkenes, to be kept vnto damnation: |
4
For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them downe into hell,
and delyuered them into chaynes of darknesse, to be kept vnto iudgement: |
4 For if God spared not the
Angels that sinned, but cast them downe to hell, and deliuered them into
chaines of darkenesse, to be reserued vnto iudgment: |
2:5 |
5 and sparide not the firste
world, but kept Noe, the eiythe man, the biforgoere of riytwisnesse, and
brouyte in the greet flood to the world of vnfeithful men; |
5 neither spared the old world:
but saved Noah the eighte preacher of righteousness, and brought in the flood
into the world of the ungodly, |
5 Nether spared the olde worlde
but saved Noe the ryghte preacher of rightewesnes and brought in the flud
vpon the worlde of the vngodly |
5 Nether spared the olde worlde,
but saued Noe the preacher of righteousnes himselfe beynge ye eight, and
brought the floude vpo the worlde of the vngodly: |
5 Neither hath spared the olde
worlde, but saued Noe the eight person a preacher of righteousnesse, and
brought in the flood vpon the world of the vngodly, |
5
Neither spared the olde worlde, but saued Noe the eyght [person] a preacher
of ryghteousnesse, and brought in the flood vpon the worlde of the
vngodly, |
5 And spared not the old world,
but saued Noah the eight person a preacher of righteousnesse, bringing in the
flood vpon the world of the vngodly: |
2:6 |

ensample unto all that after should live ungodly. |
6 and turned the cities of zodom
and Gomor into asshes: overthrewe them damned the and made on them an

6 And turned the cities of Sodom

6 And turned the cities of Sodom

6
And turned their cities of Sodome & Gomorrhe into asshes, ouerthrewe the,
dampned them, and made of them an ensample vnto those that after shoulde lyue

6 And turning the cities of
Sodom and Gomorrha into ashes, condemned them with an ouerthrowe, making them

7 and delyuerid the iust Loth,
oppressid of the wrong, and of the letcherouse conuersacioun of cursid men; |
7 And just Lot vexed with the
uncleanly conversation of the wicked, delivered he. |
7 And iust Lot vexed with the
vnclenly conversacio of the wicked delivered he. |
7 And delyuered iust Loth which
was vexed with the vngodly conuersacion of ye wicked. |
7 And deliuered iust Loth vexed
with the vncleanly conuersation of the wicked: |
7
And iust Lot, vexed with ye vncleane conuersatio of the wicked, deliuered
he. |
7 And deliuered iust Lot, vexed
with the filthy conuersation of the wicked: |
2:8 |
8 for in siyt and hering he was
iust, and dwellide amongst hem that fro dai in to dai turmentiden with wickid

8 For he being righteous and
dwelling among them, in seeing and hearing, vexed his righteous soul from day
to day with their unrighteous deeds. |
8 For he beynge ryghteous and
dwellynge amonge them in seynge and hearynge vexed his righteous soule from
daye to daye with their vnlawfull dedes. |
8 For in so moch as he was
righteous and dwelt amonge them, so that he must nedes se it and heare it,
his righteous soule was greued from to daye to daye with their vnlaufull
dedes. |
8 (For he being righteous, and
dwelling among them, in seeing and hearing, vexed his righteous soule from
day to day with their vnlawfull deedes.) |
8
For he beyng ryghteous, & dwellyng among them, in seyng and hearyng,
vexed his ryghteous soule from daye to daye with their vnlawfull deedes. |
8 (For that righteous man
dwelling among them, in seeing & hearing, vexed his righteous soule from
day to day, with their vnlawfull deeds.) |
2:9 |
9 For the Lord kan delyuere
piteuouse men fro temptacioun, and kepe wickid men `in to the dai of dom to
be turmentid; |
9 The lord knoweth how to
deliver the godly out of temptation, and how to reserve the unjust unto the
day of judgment for to be punished: |
9 The lorde knoweth how to
deliver the godly out of temptacion and how to reserve the vniuste vnto the
daye of iudgement for to be punisshed: |
9 The LORDE knoweth how to
delyuer the godly out of tentacion, and how to reserue the vniust vnto the
daye of iudgment for to be punyshed: |
9 The Lord knoweth to deliuer
the godly out of tentation, and to reserue the vniust vnto the day of
iudgement vnder punishment. |
9
The Lorde knoweth howe to delyuer the godly out of temptation, and to reserue
the vniust vnto the day of iudgement for to be punished: |
9 The Lord knoweth how to
deliuer the godly out of temptations, and to reserue the vniust vnto the day
of iudgement to be punished: |
2:10 |
10 but more hem that walken

and ben boold, plesynge hem silf, and dreden not to bringe in sectis,
blasfemynge; where aungels, |
10 namely them that walk after
the flesh in the lust of uncleanness, and despise the rulers. Presumptuous

authority. |
10 namely them that walke after
the flesshe in the lust of vnclennes and despyse the rulars. Presumpteous are
they and stubborne and feare not to speake evyll of them that are in

10 but specially them that walke
after the flesh in ye lust of vnclennes, and despyse the rulers: beynge

10 And chiefly them that walke
after the flesh, in the lust of vncleannesse, and despise gouernement, which
are bolde, and stand in their owne conceite, and feare not to speake euill of
them that are in dignitie. |
10
But chiefely them that walke after the fleshe in the lust of vncleanenesse,
and despise auctoritie. Presumptious are they, and stande in their owne
conceyte, whiche feare not to speake euyl of them that excell in worship. |
10 But chiefly them that walke
after the flesh in the lust of vncleannesse, and despise gouernment.
Presumptuous are they; selfe willed: they are not afraid to speake euill of
dignities: {government: or, dominion} |
2:11 |

11 When ye angels which are

11 wha the angels yet which are

11 Where as the Angels which are
greater both in power and might, giue not railing iudgement against them
before the Lord. |
11
When the Angels whiche are greater both in power and might, geue not raylyng
iudgement against them before the Lorde. |
11 Whereas Angels which are
greater in power and might, bring not railing accusation against them before
the Lord. {them: some read, themselves} |
2:12 |
12 But these ben as vnresonable

and shall perish through their own destruction, |
12 But these as brute beastes

12 But these are as ye brute

12 But these, as naturall brute
beasts, led with sensualitie and made to be taken, and destroyed, speake
euill of those things which they know not, and shall perish through their
owne corruption, |
12
But these, as bruite beastes ledde with sensualitie, and made to be taken and
destroyed, speake euyll of the thynges that they vnderstande not, and shall
perishe through their owne corruption, |
12 But these, as natural bruit
beasts made to bee taken and destroyed speake euill of the things that they

Spottes they are and filthines livinge at pleasure and in disceaveable wayes

Spottes are they and fylthynes: lyuynge at pleasure and in disceaueable

13 And shall receiue the wages

Spottes they are and blottes, deliting them selues in their deceiuings, in

13
And receaue the rewarde of vnryghteousnesse, they count it pleasure to lyue

13 And shall receiue the reward

which loued the rewarde of vnrighteousnes: |
15 Which forsaking the right

Which haue forsaken the ryght waye, and are gone astray, folowyng the way of

2:16 |
16 But he hadde repreuyng of his
woodnesse; a doumb beest vndur yok, that spak with vois of man, that forbede
the vnwisdom of the profete. |
16 but was rebuked of his
iniquity. The tame and dumb beast, speaking with man's voice forbade the
foolishness of the prophet. |
16 but was rebuked of his
iniquitie. The tame and dome beast speakinge with manes voyce forbade the
folisshnes of the Prophete. |
16 but was rebuked of his
iniquyte. The tame and domme beast spake with mas voyce, & forbad the
foolishnes of ye prophet. |
16 But he was rebuked for his
iniquitie: for the dumme beast speaking with mans voyce, forbade the
foolishnesse of the Prophet. |
16
But was rebuked of his iniquitie. The dumbe beast, and vsed to the yoke,
speaking with mans voyce, forbad the madnesse of the prophete. |
16 But was rebuked for his
iniquity: the dumbe asse speaking with mais voice, forbade the madnesse of
the Prophet. |
2:17 |
17 These ben wellis with out
watir, and mystis dryuun with `whirlinge wyndys, to whiche the thicke mijst
of derknessis is reseruyd. |
17 ¶ These are wells without
water, and clouds carried about of a tempest, to whom the mist of darkness is
reserved for ever. |
17 These are welles without
water and cloudes caried about of a tepest to whome the myst of darcknes is
reserved for ever. |
17 These are welles without
water, & cloudes caried aboute of a tepest: to who ye myst of darknesse

17 These are welles without
water, and cloudes caried about with a tempest, to whome the blacke darkenes

17
These are welles without water, cloudes that are caryed with a tempest, to
whom the mist of darknesse is reserued for euer. |
17 These are welles without
water, cloudes that are caried with a tempest, to whom the mist of darkenesse
is reserued for euer. |
2:18 |
18 And thei speken in pryde of
vanyte, and disseyuen in desiris of fleisch of letcherie hem, that scapen a
litil. |
18 For when they have spoken the
swelling words of vanity, they beguile with wantonness thorow the lusts of
the flesh them that were clean escaped: but now are wrapped in errors. |
18 For when they have spoke the
swellinge wordes of vanytie they begyle wt wantanes thorowe yt lustes of the
flesshe them that were clene escaped: but now are wrapped in errours. |
18 For they speake ye proude
wordes of vanite, vnto ye vttemost, and entyse thorow wantannes vnto ye luste
of the flesh, euen them that were cleane escaped, and now walke in erroure: |
18 For in speaking swelling
wordes of vanitie, they beguile with wantonnesse through the lusts of the
flesh them that were cleane escaped from them which are wrapped in errour, |
18
For when they haue spoken the great swellyng wordes of vanitie, they entice
through lustes in the voluptuousnesse of the fleshe, them that were cleane
escaped, from them whiche are wrapped in errour, |
18 For when they speake great
svelling words of vanitie, they alure through the lusts of the flesh, through
much wantonnesse, those that were cleane escaped from them who liue in
errour. {clean: or, for a little, or, a while, as some read} |
2:19 |
19 Whiche lyuen in errour, and
biheten fredom to hem, whanne thei ben seruauntis of corrupcioun. For of whom
ony man is ouercomun, of hym also he is seruaunt. |
19 They promise them liberty,
and are themselves the bondservants of corruption. For of whomsoever a man is
overcome, unto the same is he in bondage. |
19 They promys them libertye and
are them selves ye bonde servauntes of corrupcion. For of whom soever a man
is over come vnto ye same is he in bondage. |
19 and promyse them libertye,
where as they them selues are seruauntes off corrupcion. For off whom so euer
a man is ouercome, vnto the same is he in bondage. |
19 Promising vnto them libertie,
and are themselues the seruants of corruption: for of whomsoeuer a man is
ouercome, euen vnto the same is he in bondage. |
19
Whyle they promise them libertie, where as they them selues are ye bonde
seruauntes of corruption. For of whom a man is ouercome, vnto the same is he
brought in bondage. |
19 While they promise them
libertie, they themselues are the seruants of corruption: for of whom a man
is ouercome, of the same is he brought in bondage. |
2:20 |
20 For if men forsaken the
vnclennessis of the world, bi the knowyng of oure Lord and sauyour Jhesu
Crist, and eftsone ben wlappid in these, and ben ouercomun, the lattere
thingis ben maad to hem worse than the formere. |
20 For if they, after they have
escaped from the filthiness of the world thorow the knowledge of the lord,
and of the saviour Iesus Christ, they are yet tangled again therein and
overcome: then is the latter end worse with them than the beginning. |
20 For yf they after they have
escaped from the filthynes of the worlde thorowe ye knowledge of ye Lorde and
of ye saviour Iesus Christ they are yet tagled agayne therin and overcome:
then is ye latter ende worsse with them then the beginninge. |
20 For yf they (after they haue
escaped from the fylthynes of the worlde, thorow the knowlege of ye LORDE and
Sauioure Iesus Christ) are yet tangled agayne therin and ouercome, then is
the latter ende worse vnto them then the begynnynge. |
20 For if they, after they haue
escaped from the filthinesse of the world, through the acknowledging of the
Lord, and of the Sauiour Iesus Christ, are yet tangled againe therein, and
ouercome, the latter ende is worse with them then the beginning. |
20
For yf they, after they haue escaped from the fylthynesse of the worlde,
thorowe the knowledge of the Lord, & the sauiour Iesus Christe, are yet
tangled agayne therein, and ouercome, then is the later end worse with them
then the begynnyng. |
20 For if after they haue
escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and
Sauiour Iesus Christ, they are againe intangled therein, and ouercome, the
latter end is worse with them then the beginning. |
2:21 |
21 For it was betere to hem to
not knowe the weie of riytwisnesse, than to turne ayen aftir the knowyng, fro
that hooli maundement that was bitakun to hem. |
21 For it had been better for
them, not to have known the way of righteousness, than after they have known
it, to turn from the holy commandment given unto them. |
21 For it had bene better for
the not to have knowne ye waye of righteousnes then after they have knowe it
to turne fro the holy comaundmet geve vnto them. |
21 For it had bene better for
them, not to haue knowne the waye of righteousnes, then after they haue
knowne it, to turne from the holy commaundemet, that was geuen vnto them. |
21 For it had bene better for
them, not to haue acknowledged the way of righteousnes, then after they haue
acknowledged it, to turne from the holy commandement giuen vnto them. |
21
For it had ben better for them not to haue knowen the way of righteousnes,
then after they haue knowen it, to turne from the holy commaundement that was
geuen vnto them. |
21 For it had bin better for
them not to haue knowen the way of righteousnesse, then after they haue
knowen it, to turne from the holy commandement deliuered vnto them. |
2:22 |
22 For thilke very prouerb

in walwyng in fenne. |
22 It is happened unto them
according to the true proverb: The dog is turned to his vomit again, and the
sow after she is washed, is returned to her wallowing in the mire. |
22 It is happened vnto them
accordinge to the true proverbe: The dogge is turned to his vomet agayne and
the sow that was wesshed to her wallowynge in the myre. |
22 It is happened vnto them
acordynge vnto the true prouerbe: ye dogg is turned to his vomyte agayne: and
ye sowe that was wasshed, vnto hir walowynge in the myre. |
22 But it is come vnto them,
according to the true Prouerbe, The dogge is returned to his owne vomit: and,
The sowe that was washed, to the wallowing in the myre. |
22
But the same is happened vnto them that is vsed to be spoken by the true
prouerbe: The dogge is tourned to his owne vomite againe, and the sowe that
was wasshed, is turned againe to her wallowyng in the myre. |
22 But it is happened vnto them
according to the true prouerbe: The dog is turned to his own vomit againe,
and the sowe that was washed, to her wallowing in the mire. |

3 First wite ye this thing, that

3 ¶ This first understand, that
there shall come in the last days mockers, which will walk after their own

3 This fyrst vnderstode that
ther shall come in the last dayes mockers which will walke after their awne
lustes |
3 This first vnderstonde, that
in the last dayes there shal come mockers, which wyll walke after their awne

3 This first vnderstande, that
there shall come in the last dayes, mockers, which wil walke after their
lustes, |
3
This first vnderstande, that there shall come in the laste dayes mockers,
whiche wyll walke after their owne lustes, |
3 Knowing this first, that there
shall come in the last dayes scoffers, walking after their owne lusts, |
3:4 |
4 seiynge, Where is the biheest,
or the comyng of hym? for sithen the fadris dieden, alle thingis lasten fro
the bigynnyng of creature. |
4 and say: Where is the promise
of his coming? For since the fathers died all things continue in the same
estate wherein they were at the beginning. |
4 and saye. Where is the promes
of his comynge? For sence ye fathers dyed all thinges cotinue in ye same
estate wher in they were at ye begynninge. |
4 & saye: Where is the
promes of his commynge? For sence the fathers fell on slepe, euery thinge

4 And say, Where is the promise
of his comming? for since the fathers died, all things continue alike from
the beginning of the creation. |
4
And say: Where is the promise of his commyng? For sence the fathers dyed, all
thynges continue a lyke from the begynnyng of the creation. |
4 And saying, Where is the

3:5 |
5 But it is hid fro hem willynge
this thing, that heuenes were bifore, and the erthe of water was stondynge bi
watir, of Goddis word; |
5 This they know not (and that
willingly) how that the heavens a great while ago were, and the earth that
was in the water, appeared up out of the water by the word of God: |
5 This they knowe not (and that
willyngly) how that the hevens a great whyle ago were and the erth that was
in the water appered vp out of the water by the worde of god: |
5 This they knowe not (and that
wylfully) how that the heauens were afore tyme also, and the earth out of the
water, & was in the water by the worde of God, |
5 For this they willingly know
not, that the heauens were of olde, and the earth that was of the water and
by the water, by the word of God. |
5
For this they knowe not (and that wylfully) howe that the heauens were of
olde, and the earth that was of the water, and by the water, by the worde of
God: |
5 For this they willingly are
ignorant of, that by the word of God the heauens were of olde, and the earth
standing out of the water, and in the water, {standing: Gr. consisting} |
3:6 |

6 Wherefore the worlde that then

By the which thinges the world that then was, perisshed, beyng then ouerrunne

6 Whereby the world that then

3:7 |
7 But the heuenes that now ben,
and the erthe, ben kept bi the same word, and ben reseruyd to fier in to the
dai of doom and perdicioun of wickid men. |
7 But the heavens verily and
earth which are now, are kept by the same word in store, and reserved unto
fire, against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men. |
7 But the heves verely and erth
