The first English New Testament from the original tongues ( W. T. )
2 Thessalonians
Chapter Lookup: 1 2 3

The second pistel off S. Paul to the Tessalonians

The first Chapter.

1:1
Paul, Sylvanus and Timotheus. Unto the congregation of the Thessalonians, which are in God our father, and in the Lord Jesus Christ.
1:2
Grace be with you and peace from God our father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ.
1:3
We are bound to thank God always for you brethren, as it is meet, because that your faith groweth exceedingly, and every one of you swimmeth in love|the love of everyone of you increaseth| toward another between yourselves,
1:4
so that we ourselves rejoice|make our boast| of you in the congregations of God, over|of| your patience and faith in all your persecutions, and tribulations|troubles| that ye suffer:
1:5
which is a token of the righteous judgment of God, that ye are counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which ye also suffer.
1:6
It is verily|For it is| a righteous thing with God, to recompense tribulation to them that trouble you:
1:7
and to you which are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus (The Messias) shall shew himself from heaven, with his mighty angels,|the angels of his power|
1:8
in|and with| flaming fire, rendering|to give| vengeance unto them that know not God, and to them that obey not unto the gospel{gospell} of our Lord Jesus Christ,
1:9
which shall be punished with everlasting damnation, from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power,
1:10
when he shall come to be glorified in his saints, and to be made marvelous in all them that believe: because our testimony that we had unto you, was believed even the same day that we preached it.
1:11
Wherefore we pray always for you that our God make you worthy of the calling, and fulfil all delectation of goodness, and the work of faith, with power:
1:12
that the name of our Lord Jesus Christ may be glorified|praised| in you, and ye in him, thorow|according to| the grace of our God, and of the Lord Jesus Christ.

The second Chapter.

2:1
We beseech|beseek| you brethren by the coming of our Lord Jesu Christ, and in that we shall assemble unto him,
2:2
that ye be not suddenly moved from your mind, and be not troubled, neither by spirit, neither by words, nor yet by letter, which should seem to come from us, as though the day of Christ were at hand.
2:3
Let no man deceive you by any means, for the Lord cometh not, except there come a departing first, and that that sinful man|man of sin| be opened, the son of perdition
2:4
which is an adversary, and is exalted above all that is called god, or that is worshipped:|called God or Gods service| so that he shall sit|sitteth as God| in the temple of god, and shew himself as|boasteth himself to be| god.{so that he shall sit as God in temple of god}
2:5
Remember ye not, that when I was yet with you, I told you these things?
2:6
And now ye know what withholdeth: even that he might be uttered at his time.
2:7
For already the mystery of iniquity worketh. Only he that holdeth, let him now hold, until it{hit} be taken out of the way,{For the mystery of that iniquity doeth he all ready work which only looketh, till he which now only letteth be taken out of the way}
2:8
and then shall that wicked be uttered, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the appearance of his coming,
2:9
even him whose coming is by|after| the working of Satan, with all lying power, signs, and wonders:
2:10
and in all deceivableness of unrighteousness, among them that perish: because they received not the love of the truth,{trueth} that they might have been saved.
2:11
And therefore God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe lies:
2:12
that all they might be damned which believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.
2:13
{But} We are bound to give thanks alway to God for you brethren beloved of the Lord, for because that God hath from the beginning chosen you to health,{salvation} thorow sanctifying of the spirit; And thorow believing the truth:{trueth}
2:14
whereunto he called you by our gospel,{gospell} to obtain the glory that cometh of our Lord Jesu Christ.
2:15
Therefore brethren stand fast and keep the ordinations,{ordinances} which ye have learned: whether it were by our preaching, or by our pistel:|by epistle|
2:16
Our Lord Jesu Christ himself, and God our father, which hath loved us, and hath given us everlasting consolation, and good hope thorow grace,
2:17
comfort your hearts, and establish you in all saying,{doctrine} and good doing.

The .iij. Chapter.

3:1
Furthermore brethren pray for us, that the word of God may have free passage, and be glorified, as it is with you:
3:2
and that we may be delivered from unreasonable and evil men. For all men have not faith:
3:3
but the Lord is faithful, which shall stablish you, and keep you from evil.
3:4
We have confidence thorow|in| the Lord to you ward, that ye both do, and will do, that which we command you.
3:5
And the Lord guide your hearts unto the love of God, and patience of Christ.
3:6
We require you brethren in the name of our Lord Jesu Christ, that ye withdraw yourselves from every brother that walketh inordinately, and not after the institution which ye|he| received of us.
3:7
Ye yourselves know how ye ought to counterfeit{follow} us: For we behaved not ourselves inordinately among you.
3:8
Neither took we bread of any man for nought: but wrought with labour and travail night and day, because we would not be grievous|lest we should be chargeable| to any of you:
3:9
not but that we had authority: but to make ourselves an ensample unto you, to counterfeit{follow} us.
3:10
For when we were with you, this we warned you of, that if there were any which would not work, that the same should not eat.
3:11
We have heard say no doubt|For we hear say| that there are some which walk among you inordinately, and work not at all, but are busybodies.
3:12
Them that are such, we command and exhort in the name of{exhort by} our Lord Jesu Christ, that they work with quietness, and eat their {own} bread.
3:13
Brethren be not weary in well doing.
3:14
If any man obey not our sayings, send us word of him by a letter: and have no company|have nothing to do| with him, that he may be ashamed:
3:15
And count him not as an enemy: but warn him as a brother.
3:16
The very Lord of peace, give you peace always, by all means. The Lord be with you all.
3:17
The salutation of me Paul with mine own hand. This is the token in all pistels.|epistles| So I write.
3:18
The grace of our Lord Jesus be with you all Amen.
