1:17: All the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen generations. And from David unto the captivity of Babylon, are fourteen generations. And from the captivity of Babylon unto Christ, are also fourteen generations.
1:18: The birth of _{Iesus} Christ was on this wise, when his mother Mary was married_{betrouthed} unto Joseph, before they came to dwell together,_{{to geder}} she was found with child by the holy ghost.
1:19: Then her husband Joseph being a perfect man, and loth to defame_{{make an example of}} her, was minded to put her away secretly.
1:20: While he thus thought, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in sleep_{{a dream}} saying: Joseph the son of David, fear not to take unto thee, Mary thy wife. For that which is conceived in her, is of the holy ghost.
1:21: She shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name Jesus._{{Lat. Iesu, Heb. Yesua}} For he shall save his people from their sins.
1:22: All this was done to fulfil that which was spoken of the Lord, by the prophet saying:
1:23: Behold a maid shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they_{thou} shalt call his name Emmanuel, which is as much to say, by interpretation, as God with us.
1:24: _{And} Joseph as soon as he awoke out of sleep, did as the angel of the Lord bade him, and took his wife unto him,
1:25: and knew her not, till she had brought forth her first son, and called his name Jesus.
The Second Chapter.
2:1: When Jesus was born in_{at} Bethlehem a town of_{in} Jury,_{Iury} in the time of king Herod. Behold, there came wise men from the east_{est} to Jerusalem
2:2: saying: Where is he that is born king of the Jews?_{Iewes?} We have seen his star in the east,_{est} and are come to worship him.
2:3: Herod the king, after he had heard this,_{{When Herod the king had heard this, he}} was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him,
2:4: and he sent for_{gathered} all the chief priests and scribes of the people, and demanded_{asked} of them where Christ should be born.
2:5: _{And} They said unto him: in Bethlehem a town of Jury. For thus it is written by the prophet:
2:6: And thou Bethlehem in the land of Jury, shalt not be the least as pertaining to_{concerning} the princes of Juda. For out of thee shall come a_{the} captain, which_{that} shall govern my people Israel.
2:7: Then Herod privily called the wise men, and diligently enquired of them, the time of the star that appeared.
2:8: And sent them to Bethlehem saying: when ye be come thither_{{Go and}} search diligently for the child. And when ye have found him bring me word, that I may come and worship him also.
2:9: When they had heard the king, they departed, and lo the star which they saw in the east went before them, until_{till} it came and stood over the place where the child was.
2:10: When they saw the star, they were marvelously glad.
2:11: And entered_{went} into the house, and found_(saw) the child with Mary his mother, and kneeled down and worshipped him, and opened their treasures, and offered unto him gifts, gold, frankincense, and myrrh.
2:12: And after they were warned in their sleep,_{{of God in a dream}} that they should not go again to Herod, they returned into their own country another way.
2:13: After that_{when} they were departed, lo_{behold} the angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in his sleep_{dream} saying: arise and take the child and his mother, and fly into Egypt, and abide there till I bring thee word. For Herod will seek the child to destroy him.
2:14: Then he arose, and took the child and his mother by night, and departed into Egypt,
2:15: and was there unto the death of Herod, to fulfil that which was spoken of the Lord, by the prophet, which saith: out of Egypt have I called my son.
2:16: Then Herod perceiving that he was mocked of the wise men, was exceeding wroth, and sent forth and slew all the children that were in Bethlehem, and in all the coasts thereof, as many as were two year old and under, according to the time which he had diligently searched out of the wise men.
2:17: Then was fulfilled, that which was spoken by the prophet Jeremy, saying:
2:18: On the hills was a voice heard, mourning, weeping, and great lamentation. Rachel weeping for her children, and would not be comforted, because they were not.
2:19: When Herod was dead, lo_{behold} an angel of the Lord appeared _{{in a dream}} unto Joseph in Egypt
2:20: saying: arise and take the child and his mother, and go into the land of Israel. For they are dead, which sought the child's death._{life.}
2:21: Then he arose up, and took the child and his mother, and came into the land of Israel.
2:22: But when he heard that Archelaus did reign in Jury, in the room of his father Herod, he was afraid to go thither. Notwithstanding after he was warned in his sleep,_{{of god in a dream}} he turned aside into the parts of Galilee,
2:23: and went and dwelt in a city called Nazareth, to fulfil, that which was spoken by the prophets: He shall be called of Nazareth._{{a Nazarite.}}
The Third Chapter.
3:1: In those days John the Baptiser,_{{the Baptist}} came and preached in the wilderness of Jury_{Iewry}
3:2: saying: repent,_{|Amende your selves|} the kingdom of heaven is at hand.
3:3: This is he of whom it is spoken by the prophet Isay,_{Esai} which saith: The voice of a crier in wilderness, prepare the Lord's_{Lordes} way, and make his paths_{(the paths of our God)} straight.
3:4: This John had his garment of camel's hair, and a girdle of a skin about his loins. His meat was locusts and wild honey.
3:5: Then went out to him Jerusalem, and all Jury,_{Iewry} and all the region round about Jordan,
3:6: and were baptised of him in Jordan, knowledging_{confessing} their sins.
3:7: When he saw many of the pharisees and of the sadducees come to his baptism, he said unto them: O generation of vipers, who hath taught you to flee from the vengeance to come?
3:8: Bring forth therefore the fruits belonging to repentance.
3:9: And see that ye once think not to say in yourselves, we have Abraham to our father. For I say unto you, that God is able of these stones, to raise up children unto Abraham.
3:10: Even now is the axe put unto the root_{rote} of the trees: so that every tree which bringeth not forth, good fruit, shall be_{is} hewn down, and cast into the fire.
3:11: I baptise you in water, in token of repentance, but he that cometh after me, is mightier than I: whose shoes I am not worthy to bear. He shall baptise you with the holy ghost, and with fire,
3:12: which hath also his fan in his hand, and will purge his flour, and gather the wheat into his garner, and will burn the chaff with everlasting_{{unquenchable}} fire.
3:13: Then came Jesus from Galilee into_{to} Jordan to_{unto} John, for to be baptised of him.
3:14: But John forbade him saying: I ought to be baptised of thee: and comest thou to me?
3:15: Jesus answered and said to him, let it be so now. For thus it becometh us, to fulfil all righteousness. Then he suffered him. _{(And when Jesus was being baptized a great light flashed from the water, so that all who had gathered there were afraid.)}
3:16: And Jesus as soon as he was baptised, came straight out of the water. And lo heaven was open unto_{over} him: and he_{John} saw the spirit of God descend like a dove, and light upon him.
3:17: And lo there came a voice from heaven saying: this is my dear_{{Thou art my beloved}} son, in whom is my delight.
The Fourth Chapter.
4:1: Then was Jesus led away of the spirit in to a desert,_{wilderness} to be tempted of the devil.
4:2: And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, at the last he was_{afterward} an hungered.
4:3: Then came until_{to} him the tempter, and said: If thou be the son of God, command that these stones be made bread.
4:4: He answered and said: It is written, man shall not live only by bread, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.
4:5: Then the devil took him up into the holy city, and set him on a pinnacle of the temple,
4:6: and said unto him: if thou be the son of God, cast thyself down. For it is written, he shall give his angels charge over thee, and with their hands they shall stey_{hold} thee up, that thou dash not thy foot against a stone.
4:7: _{And} Jesus said to him, it is written also: thou shalt not tempt thy Lord God.
4:8: The devil took him up again and led him into an exceeding high_{hye} mountain, and shewed him all the kingdoms of the world, and the beauty of them,_{{all the glory of them}}
4:9: and said unto_{to} him: all these will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me.
4:10: Then said Jesus unto him, avoid Satan. For it is written, thou shalt worship thy Lord God,_{{the Lord thy God}} and him only, shalt thou serve.
4:11: Then the devil left him, and lo_{behold} the angels came and ministered unto him.
4:12: When Jesus had heard that John was taken, he departed into Galilee,
4:13: and left Nazareth, and went and dwelt in Capernaum, which is a city upon the sea, in the coasts of Zabulon and Nephthalim,
4:14: to fulfil that which was spoken by Esay the prophet, saying:
4:15: Behold the land of Zabulon and Nephthalim, the way of the sea beyond Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles,
4:16: the people which sat in darkness, saw great light. And to them which sat in the region and shadow of death, light is sprong._{{begun to shine.}}
4:17: From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say: Repent,_{|Amende youre selves|} for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.
4:18: As Jesus walked by the sea of Galilee, he saw two brethren: Simon which was called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea (for they were fishers)
4:19: and he said unto them, follow me, and I will make you (to become) fishers of men.
4:20: And they straightway left their nets, and followed him.
4:21: And he went forth from thence, and saw other two brethren, James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother in the ship, with Zebedee their father, mending their nets, and called them.
4:22: And they without tarrying left the ship and their father and followed him.
4:23: And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel_{gospell} of the kingdom, and healing_{healed} all manner of sickness, and all manner diseases among the people.
4:24: And his fame spread abroad throughout all Syria. And they brought unto him all sick people, that were taken with divers diseases and gripings, and them that were possessed with devils, and those which were lunatic, and those that had the palsy. And he healed them.
4:25: And there followed him a great number of people, from Galilee, and from the ten cities, and from Jerusalem, and from Jury,_{Iewry} and from the regions that lie beyond Jordan.
The Fifth Chapter.
5:1: When he saw the people he went up into a mountain, and when he was set, his disciples came to him,
5:2: and he opened his mouth,_{mought} and taught them saying:
5:3: Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
5:4: Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.
5:5: Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.
5:6: Blessed are they which hunger and thirst for righteousness: for they shall be filled.
5:7: Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.
5:8: Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.
5:9: Blessed are the maintainers of peace:_{{Blessed are the peacemakers,}} for they shall be called the children of God.
5:10: Blessed are they which suffer persecution for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
5:11: Blessed are ye when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall falsely say all manner of evil sayings against you for my sake.
5:12: Rejoice, and be glad, for great is your reward in heaven. For so persecuted they the prophets which were before your days.
5:13: Ye are the salt of the earth: but and if the salt be once unsavory,_{{have lost hir saltiness}} what can be salted there with? It is thence forth good for nothing, but to be cast out at the doors, and that men tread it under feet._{{and to be trodden under foot of men.}}
5:14: Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill, cannot be hid,
5:15: neither do men light a candle and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick, and it lighteth all them which_{that} are in the house.
5:16: See that_{Let} your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your father which is in heaven.
5:17: Ye shall not think,_{{Think not}} that I am come to disannul_{destroy} the law, other the prophets: no I am not come to disannul_{destroy} them, but to fulfil them.
5:18: For truly I say unto you, till heaven and earth perish, one jot, or one tittle of the law shall not scape, till all be fulfilled.
5:19: Whosoever breaketh one of these least commandments, and teacheth men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven. But whosoever shall observe_{observeth} and teach them,_{teacheth} that person_{{the same}} shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.
5:20: For I say unto you except your righteousness exceed the righteousness of the scribes and pharisees, ye cannot enter into the kingdom of heaven.
5:21: Ye have heard how it was said unto them of the old time: Thou shalt not kill. Whosoever shall kill,_{killeth} shall be in danger of judgement.
5:22: But I say unto you, whosoever is angry with his brother,_{(without a cause)} shall be in danger of judgement. Whosoever shall say_{sayeth} unto his brother raca, shall be in danger of a council. But whosoever say unto his brother_{sayeth} thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire.
5:23: Therefore when thou offerest thy gift at the altar, and there rememberest that thy brother hath anything against thee:
5:24: leave there thine offering before the altar, and go thy way first and reconcile thyself_{{be reconciled}} to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift.
5:25: Agree with thine adversary at once,_{quickly} whiles thou art in the way with him, lest thine_{that} adversary deliver thee to the judge, and the judge deliver thee to the minister, and then thou be cast into prison.
5:26: _{Verily} I say unto thee verily: thou shalt not come out thence till thou have paid the utmost farthing.
5:27: Ye have heard how it was said to them of old time, thou shalt not commit advoutry.
5:28: But I say unto you, that whosoever eyeth_{{looketh on}} a wife, lusting after her, hath committed advoutry with her already in his heart.
5:29: Wherefore if thy right eye offend thee, pluck him out, and cast him from thee. Better it is for thee that one of thy members perish than that thy whole body should be cast into hell.
5:30: Also if thy right hand offend thee, cut him off and cast him from thee. Better it is that one of thy members perish, than that all thy body should, be cast in to hell.
5:31: It is said, whosoever put away his wife, let him give her a testimonial of her_{{testimony also of the}} divorcement.
5:32: But I say unto you: whosoever put away his wife, (except it be for fornication) causeth her to break matrimony. And whosoever marrieth her that is divorced, breaketh wedlock.
5:33: Again ye have heard, how it was said to them of old time, thou shalt not forswear thyself, but shalt perform thine oath to God.
5:34: But I say unto you swear not at all: neither by heaven, for it is God's seat:_{{Goddes seat}}
5:35: nor yet by the earth, for it is his footstool: Neither by Jerusalem, for it is the city of that great King:
5:36: neither shalt thou swear by thy head, because thou canst not make one white hair, or black:
5:37: But your communication shall be, yea, yea: nay, nay. For whatsoever is more than that, cometh of evil.
5:38: Ye have heard how it is said, an eye for an eye: a tooth for a tooth.
5:39: But I say to you, that ye withstand_{resist} not wrong. But if a man_{whosoever} give thee a blow on thy right cheek, turn to him the other.
5:40: And if any man will sue thee at the law, and take _{away} thy coat from thee, let him have thy cloak also.
5:41: And whosoever will compel thee to go a mile, go with him twain.
5:42: Give to him that asketh: and from him that would borrow turn not away.
5:43: Ye have heard how it is said: thou shalt love thine neighbor, and hate thine enemy.
5:44: But I say unto you, love your enemies. Bless them that curse you. Do good to them that hate you. Pray for them which do you wrong, and persecute you,
5:45: that ye may be the children of your heavenly father:_{{that is in heaven:}} for he maketh his sun to arise, on the evil, and on the good, and sendeth his rain on the just and unjust.
5:46: For if ye shall love them, which love you: what reward shall ye have? Do not the publicans even so?
5:47: And if ye be friendly to your brethren only: what singular thing do ye? Do not the publicans likewise?
5:48: Ye shall therefore be perfect, even as your heavenly father_{{which is in heaven}} is perfect.
The Sixth Chapter.
6:1: Take heed to your alms. _(justice) That ye give it not in the sight of men, to the intent that ye would be seen of them. Or else ye get no reward of your father _{{which is}} in heaven.
6:2: Whensoever therefore thou givest thine alms, thou shalt not make a trumpet to be blown before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues, and in the streets, for to be praised of men. Verily I say unto you, they have their reward.
6:3: But when thou doest thine alms, let not thy left hand know, what thy right hand doth,
6:4: that thine alms may be secret, and thy father which seeth in secret, shall reward thee openly.
6:5: And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are. For they love to stand and pray in the synagogues, and in the corners of the streets, because they would be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, they have their reward.
6:6: But when thou prayest, enter into thy chamber, and shut thy door to thee, and pray to thy father which is in secret: and thy father which seeth in secret, shall reward thee openly.
6:7: But_{And} when ye pray, babble not much, as the gentiles_{heathen} do: for they think that they shall be heard, for their much babbling's sake.
6:8: Be ye not like them therefore. For _(God) your father knoweth whereof ye have need, before ye ask of him.
6:9: After this manner therefore pray ye. O our father, which art in heaven hallowed be thy name.
6:10: Let thy kingdom come. Thy will be fulfilled, as well in earth, as it is in heaven.
6:11: Give us this day our daily bread.
6:12: And forgive us our trespasses, _|debts| even as we forgive them which trespass us._{{our trespassers.}} _{|our debtors.|}
6:13: _{And} Lead us not in to temptation: but deliver us from evil, For thine is the kingdom and the power, and the glory for ever. Amen.
6:14: For and if ye shall forgive other men their trespasses, your _{heavenly} father in heaven shall also forgive you. (your trespasses)
6:15: But and ye will not forgive men their trespasses, no more shall, your father forgive your trespasses.
6:16: Moreover when ye fast, be not sad as the hypocrites are. For they disfigure their faces, that it_{they} might appear unto men_{{be seen of men how}} that they fast. Verily I say unto you, they have their reward.
6:17: But thou when thou fastest, anoint thine head, and wash thy face,
6:18: that it appear not unto men how that thou fastest: but unto thy father which is in secret: and thy father which seeth in secret, shall reward thee openly.
6:19: _{{See that ye}} Gather not treasure together on_{{upon the}} earth, where rust and moths corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal.
6:20: But gather ye treasures together in heaven, where neither rust, nor yet moths corrupt: and where thieves neither break up, nor yet steal.
6:21: For wheresoever your treasure is, there are your hearts also._{{there will your hears be also.}}
6:22: The light of the body is thine eye. Wherefore if thine eye be single, all thy body is_{{all body shall be}} full of light.
6:23: But and if thine eye be wicked, then is all thy body_{{shall be}} full of darkness. Wherefore if the light that is in thee, be darkness: how great is that darkness?
6:24: No man can serve two masters. For either he shall hate the one, and love the other: or else he shall lean to the one, and despise that_{the} other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.
6:25: Therefore I say unto you, be not careful_{carefull} for your life what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink, nor yet for your body, what raiment ye shall wear._{{put on.}} Is not the life more worth than meat? and the body more of value than raiment?
6:26: Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither reap, nor yet carry into the barns, and yet your heavenly father feedeth them. Are ye not _{much} better than they?
6:27: Which of you (though he took thought therefore) could put one cubit unto his stature?
6:28: And why care ye then for raiment? Behold_{Consider} the lilies of the field, how they grow. They labor not, neither spin.
6:29: And yet for all that I say unto you, that even Solomon in all his royalty, was not arrayed like unto one of these.
6:30: Wherefore if God so clothe the grass, which is today in the field, and tomorrow shall be cast into the furnace: shall he not much more do the same unto you, O ye of little faith?
6:31: Therefore take no thought saying: what shall we eat, or what shall we drink, or wherewith shall we be clothed?
6:32: (After all these things seek the gentiles) For your heavenly father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.
6:33: But rather seek ye first the kingdom of heaven,_{(of Eternity)} and the righteousness thereof, and all these things shall be ministered unto you.
6:34: Care not therefore for the day following._{morrow} For the day following_{morrow} shall care for itself. Each days trouble is sufficient for the same self day._{{Care not therefore then for the morrow, but let the morrow care of itself: for the day present hath ever enough of his own travail.}}
The .vij. Chapter.
7:1: Judge not lest ye be judged._{{Judge not, that ye be not judged.}} (comdemn not and ye shall not be condemned)
7:2: For as ye judge, so shall ye be judged. And with what measure ye mete, with the same shall it be measured to you again.
7:3: Why seest thou a mote in thy brother's eye, and perceivest not the beam that is in thine own eye?
7:4: Or why sayest thou to thy brother: (Brother) suffer me to pluck out a_{the} mote out of thine eye, and behold a beam is in thine own eye.
7:5: Hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye, and then shalt thou see clearly to pluck out the mote out of thy brother's eye.
7:6: Give not that which is holy to dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they tread them under their feet, and the other turn again and all to rent you.
7:7: Ask (straitly) and it shall be given you: Seek (consistently) and ye shall find, Knock (punctually) and it shall be opened unto you.
7:8: For whosoever asketh (directly) receiveth, and he that seeketh (precisely) findeth, and to him that knocketh, (promptly) it shall be opened.
7:9: Is there any man among you which would proffer his son a stone if he asked him bread?_{{Is there any man among you which if his son asked him bread, would offer him a stone?}}
7:10: Or if he asked fish, would he proffer him a serpent?
7:11: If ye then which are evil, can give to your children good gifts: how much more shall your father, which is in heaven, give good things, to them that ask of him?
7:12: Therefore whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, even so do ye to them. This is the law and the prophets.
7:13: Enter in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way that leadeth to destruction: and many there be, which go in thereat.
7:14: For_{{But, (How)}} strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life: and few there be, that find it.
7:15: Beware of false prophets, which come to you, in sheeps' clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.
7:16: Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns? Or figs of briars?_|thistles|
7:17: Even so every good tree, bringeth forth good fruit. But a corrupt tree, bringeth forth evil fruit.
7:18: A good tree cannot bring forth bad fruit: nor yet a bad tree can bring forth good fruit.
7:19: Every tree, that bringeth not forth good fruit, shall be hewn down, and cast into the fire.
7:20: Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.
7:21: Not all they that say unto me, master, master,_{{Lord, Lord}} shall enter in to the kingdom of heaven: but he that fulfilleth_{doeth} my father's will which is in heaven. (He shall enter in to the kingdom of heaven)
7:22: Many will say to me in that day, Master, master,_{{Lord, Lord}} have we not in thy name prophesied? and in thy name have we not cast out devils? and in thy name have we not done many miracles._{{And in thy name have cast out devils? And in thy name have done many miracles?}}
7:23: And then will I knowledge unto them, that I never knew them. Depart from me, ye workers of iniquity.
7:24: Whosoever heareth of me these sayings, and doeth the same, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house on a rock:
7:25: and abundance of rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that same house, and it was not overthrown_{{fell not}} because it was grounded on the rock.
7:26: And whosoever heareth of me these sayings, and doth_{them} not the same, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand,
7:27: and abundance of rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house, and it was overthrown,_{fell} and great was the fall of it.
7:28: And it came to pass, that when Jesus had ended these sayings, the people were astonied at his doctrine.
7:29: For he taught them as one having power, and not as the scribes. (of them, and the Pharises)
The .viij. Chapter.
8:1: When Jesus_{he} was come down from the mountain, much people followed him.
8:2: And lo, there came a leper, and worshipped him saying: Master, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean.
8:3: He_{Iesu} put forth his hand and touched him saying: I will, be _{thou} clean, and immediately his leprosy was cleansed.
8:4: And Jesus said unto him: See thou tell no man, but go and shew thyself to the priest and offer the gift, that Moses commanded to be offered in witness to them.
8:5: When Jesus was entered into Capernaum, there came unto him a certain Centurion,_|Captain|
8:6: beseeching_{{and besought}} him, and saying: Master, my servant lieth sick at home of the palsy, and is grievously pained.
8:7: And Jesus said unto him: I will come and cure_{heal} him.
8:8: The Centurion answered and said: Sir, I am not worthy that thou shouldest come under the roof of my house,_{{my roof}} but speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed.
8:9: For I also myself am a man under power,_{{subject to the authority of another}} and have soldiers under me, and I say to one, go, and he goeth: and to another, come, and he cometh: and to my servant, do this, and he doeth it.
8:10: When Jesus heard these sayings:_{that} he marveled, and said to them that followed him: Verily I say unto you, I have not found so great faith: no, not in Israel.
8:11: I say therefore unto you, that many shall come from the east and west, and shall rest with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, in the kingdom of heaven:
8:12: and the children of the kingdom shall be cast out into the utmost_{utter} darkness, there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
8:13: Then Jesus said unto the Centurion, go thy way, and as thou believed_{believest} so be it unto thee. And his servant was healed that same_{{the self}} hour.
8:14: And _{then} Jesus went to Peter's house, and saw his wife's mother lying sick of a fever,
8:15: and he touched her hand, and the fever left her: and she arose, and ministered unto them.
8:16: When the even was come they brought unto him many that were possessed with devils, and he cast out the spirits with a word, and healed all that were sick,
8:17: to fulfil that which was spoken by Esay the prophet saying: he took on him our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses.
8:18: When Jesus saw much people about him, he commanded to go over the water.
8:19: And there came a scribe and said unto him: Master, I will follow thee whithersoever thou goest.
8:20: And Jesus said unto him: the foxes have holes, and the birds of the air have nests, but the son of the man hath not whereon to lay_{rest} his head.
8:21: Another that was one of his Disciples said unto him: Master suffer me first, to go and bury my father.
8:22: But Jesus said unto him: follow me, and let the dead bury their dead.
8:23: And he entered into a ship, and his Disciples followed him.
8:24: And lo_{behold} there arose a great storm_{tempest} in the sea, insomuch,_{{in so much}} that the ship was hid_{covered} with waves, and he was asleep.
8:25: And his Disciples came unto him, and awoke him, saying: Master, save us, we perish.
8:26: And he said unto them: Why are ye fearful, O ye endowed with_{of} little faith? Then he arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there followed a great calm.
8:27: And _{the} men marveled and said: What man is this, that both winds and sea obey him?
8:28: And when he was come to the other side, into the country of the Gergesites, there met him two possessed of devils, which came out of the graves, and were out of measure fierce, so that no man might go by that way.
8:29: And lo_{behold} they cried out saying: O Jesu the son of God, what have we to do with thee? Art thou come hither to torment us before the time be come?
8:30: _{And} There was a good way off from them a great herd of swine feeding.
8:31: Then the devils besought him saying: if thou cast us out, suffer us to go our way into the herd of swine.
8:32: And he said unto them: go your ways. Then went they out, and departed into the herd of swine. And lo, all the_{{behold the whole}} herd of swine was carried with violence headlong into the sea, and perished in the water.
8:33: Then the herdmen, fled and went their ways into the city, and told everything, and what had fortuned unto them that were possessed of the devils.
8:34: And lo,_{behold} all the city came out, and met Jesus. And when they saw him they besought him, to depart out of their coasts.
The .ix. Chapter.
9:1: And_{Then} he entered into a ship: and passed over and came into his own city.
9:2: And lo, they brought unto him a man sick of the palsy, lying in his bed. And when Jesus saw their faith,_{{the faith of them}} he said to the sick of the palsy: son be of good cheer, thy sins be forgiven thee.
9:3: And lo_{behold} certain of the scribes said in themselves, he_{{this man}} blasphemeth.
9:4: And when Jesus saw_(knowing) their thoughts, he said: Wherefore think ye evil in your hearts?
9:5: Whether is easier to say, thy sins be forgiven thee, or to say: arise and walk?
9:6: That ye may know, that the son of man hath power to forgive sins in earth, then said he unto the sick of the palsy: arise, take up thy bed, and go home to thine house.
9:7: And he arose and departed to his _{own} house.
9:8: The people that saw it,_{{And when the people saw it, they}} _(fearing) marveled and glorified God, which had given such power to men.
9:9: And as Jesus passed forth from thence he saw a man sit at the receipt_{{a receiving}} of custom named Matthew, and said to him: Follow me. And he arose and followed him.
9:10: And it came to pass, that Jesus_{{as he}} sat at meat in his_{the} house. And lo,_{behold} many publicans and sinners, came and sat down also with Jesus, and his disciples.
9:11: When the pharisees had perceived_{saw} that, they said unto his disciples: why eateth your master with publicans and sinners?
9:12: When Jesus heard that, he said unto them: The whole need not the physician, but they that are sick.
9:13: Go and learn, what that meaneth: I have pleasure in mercy, and not in offering. For I am not come to call the righteous, but the sinners to repentance.
9:14: Then came the disciples of John to him, saying: why do we and the pharisees fast oft, but thy disciples fast not?
9:15: And Jesus said unto them: can the wedding children mourn as long as the bridegroom is with them? The time will come, when the bridegroom shall be taken _{away} from them, and then shall they fast.
9:16: No man pieceth an old garment with a piece of new cloth. For then taketh he away the piece again from the garment, and the rent is made worse._{greater.}
9:17: Neither do men put new wine, into old vessels: for then the vessels break, and the wine runneth out, and the vessels perish. But they pour new wine into new vessels, and so are both saved together.
9:18: While he thus spake unto them, lo,_{behold} there came a certain ruler, and worshipped him saying: my daughter is dead already,_{{even now deceased}} but come, and lay thy hand on her, and she shall live.
9:19: And Jesus arose and followed him, with his disciples.
9:20: And behold, a woman which was diseased with an issue of blood twelve year, came behind him and touched the hem of his vesture.
9:21: For she said in herself: If I may touch but even his vesture only I shall be safe.
9:22: _{Then} Jesus turned him about, and beheld her, saying: Daughter be of good comfort, thy faith hath made thee safe. And she was made whole even that same hour.
9:23: And when Jesus came into the ruler's house, and saw the minstrels and the people wondering,_{raging}
9:24: he said unto them: Get you hence, for the maid is not dead, but sleepeth. And they laughed him to scorn.
9:25: As soon as the people were put forth adoors, he went in and took her by the hand, (and said: damsel, arise) and the maid arose.
9:26: And this was noised throughout all that land.
9:27: And as Jesus departed thence, two blind men followed him crying, and saying: O thou son of David, have mercy on us.
9:28: And when he was come into the house,_{home} the blind came to him. And Jesus said unto them believe ye that I am able to do this? _{And} They said unto him: yea Master._{{yea Lord.}}
9:29: Then touched he their eyes saying: according to your faith, be it unto you.
9:30: And their eyes were opened. And he_{Iesu} charged them, saying: See that no man know of it.
9:31: But they as soon as they were departed, spread abroad his name through out all the land.
9:32: As they went out, behold, they brought to him a dumb man possessed of a devil.
9:33: And as soon as the devil was cast out, the dumb spake. And the people marveled, saying: it_{was} never so appeared_{seen} in Israel.
9:34: But the pharisees said: He casteth out devils, by the power of the chief devil.
9:35: And Jesus went about all cities and towns, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel_{{glad tidings}} of the kingdom. And healing all manner sickness and disease among the people.
9:36: But when he saw the people, he had pity_{compassion} on them, because they were pined away, and scattered abroad even as sheep, having no shepherd.
9:37: Then said he to his disciples: the harvest is great, but the laborers are few.
9:38: Wherefore pray the harvest Lord,_{{Lord of the harvest}} to send forth laborers into his harvest.
The .x. Chapter.
10:1: And he called his twelve disciples unto him, and gave them power against_{{over all}} unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of sicknesses, and all manner of diseases.
10:2: The names of the twelve apostles are these. The first Simon which is called_{also} Peter: and Andrew his brother. James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother.
10:3: Philip and Bartholomew. Thomas and Matthew the publican. James the son of Alphe and Lebbeus, otherwise called Thaddeus.
10:4: Simon of Chane, and Judas Iscariot, which also betrayed him.
10:5: These twelve sent Jesus,_{{did Iesus send}} and commanded them saying: Go not into the ways that lead to the gentiles, and in to the cities of the Samaritans enter ye not:
10:6: But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.
10:7: Go and preach saying: how_{that} the kingdom of heaven is at hand.
10:8: Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out the devils. Freely ye have received, freely give again.
10:9: Possess not gold, nor silver, neither_{nor} brass in your girdles,
10:10: nor yet scrip towards your journey. Neither two coats, neither shoes, nor yet a rod:_{staff.} for the workman is worthy to have his meat.
10:11: Into whatsoever city, or town ye shall come, enquire who is worthy in it, and there abide till ye go thence.
10:12: And when ye come into an house greet_{salute} the same.
10:13: And if the house be worthy, your peace shall come upon the same._{it.} But if it be not worthy, your peace shall return to you again.
10:14: And whosoever shall not receive you, nor will hear your preaching, when ye depart out of that house, or that city, shake off the dust of your feet.
10:15: Truly I say unto you, it shall be easier for the land of Sodom, and Gomorra, in the day of judgement, than for that city.
10:16: Lo_{behold} I send you forth, as sheep among wolves. Be ye therefore wise as serpents, and innocent as doves.
10:17: Beware of men, for they shall deliver you up to the councils, and shall scourge you in their synagogues.
10:18: And ye shall be brought to the head rulers and kings for my sake, in witness to them and to the gentiles.
10:19: But when they put_{deliver} you up, take no thought, how, or what ye shall speak, for it shall be given you even in that same hour, what ye shall say.
10:20: For it is not ye that speak, but the spirit of your father which speaketh in you.
10:21: The brother shall betray the brother to death, and the father the son. And the children shall arise against their fathers, and mothers, and shall put them to death,
10:22: and ye shall be hated of all men, for my name. But whosoever_{{he that}} shall continue_{endureth} unto the end, shall be saved.
10:23: When they persecute you in one city, fly into another. I tell you for a truth, ye shall not finish all the cities of Israel, till the son of man be come.
10:24: The disciple is not above his Master: Nor yet the servant above his Lord.
10:25: It is enough for the disciple to be as his Master is, and that the servant be as his Lord is. If they have called the Lord of the house beelzebub: how much more shall they call them of his household so?
10:26: Fear them not therefore. There is nothing so close, that shall not be opened, and nothing so hid,_|secret| that shall not be known.
10:27: What I tell you in darkness, that speak ye in light. And what ye hear in the ear that preach ye on the house tops.
10:28: And fear ye not them which kill the body, and be not able to kill the soul. But rather fear him, which is able to destroy both soul and body in _{to} hell.
10:29: Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? And none of them doth light on the ground, without your father.
10:30: And now are all the hairs of your heads numbered.
10:31: Fear ye not therefore, ye are of more value, than many sparrows.
10:32: Whosoever therefore knowledgeth_{{shall knowledge}} me before men, him will I knowledge _{also} before my father which is in heaven.
10:33: But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my father which is in heaven.
10:34: Think not, that I am come to send peace into the earth. I came not to send peace, but a sword.
10:35: For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law:
10:36: And a man's foes shall be, they of his own household.
10:37: He that loveth his father, or mother more than me, is not worthy of me._{{not meet for me.}} And he that loveth his son, or daughter more than me, is not meet for me.
10:38: And he that taketh not his cross and followeth me, is not meet for me.
10:39: He that findeth his life, shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake, shall find it.
10:40: He that receiveth you, receiveth me: and he that receiveth me, receiveth him that sent me.
10:41: He that receiveth a prophet in the name of a prophet, shall receive a prophet's reward. And he that receiveth a righteous man in the name of a righteous man, shall receive the reward of a righteous man.
10:42: And whosoever shall give unto one of these little ones to, drink a cup of cold water only, in the name of a disciple: I tell you of a truth, he shall not lose his reward.
The .xj. Chapter.
11:1: And it came to pass when Jesus had ended his precepts unto his disciples,_{{had made an end of commanding his twelve disciples, that}} he departed thence, _{{to teach and}} to preach and teach in their cities.
11:2: When John being in prison heard the works of Christ, he sent two of his disciples and said unto him.
11:3: Art thou he that shall come: or shall we look for another.
11:4: Jesus answered and said unto them. Go and shew John what ye have heard and seen.
11:5: The blind see, the halt go, the lepers are cleansed: The deaf hear, the dead are raised up_{rise} again, and the gospel_{{gospell or glad tidings}} is preached to the poor.
11:6: And happy_|blessed| is he that is not hurt_{offended} by me.
11:7: Even_{And} as they departed, Jesus began to speak unto the people of John. What_{{To see what}} went ye _{out} for to see in _{to} the wilderness? went ye out to see a reed wavering_{shaken} with the wind?
11:8: Other what went ye out for to see? Went ye to see a man clothed in soft raiment? Behold, they that wear soft clothing are in kings' houses.
11:9: But what went ye out for to see? Went ye out to see, a prophet? Yea I say unto you, and more than a prophet.
11:10: For this is he of whom it is written. Behold, I send my messenger before thy face which shall prepare thy way before thee.
11:11: Verify I say unto you, among the children of women arose there not a greater than John _{the} baptist. Notwithstanding he that is less in the kingdom of heaven, is greater than he.
11:12: From the time of John baptist hitherto, the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence,
11:13: and they that make_{{go to it with}} violence pulleth_{pluck} it to_{unto} them. For all the prophets, and the law prophesied unto the time of John.
11:14: _{And} Also if ye will receive it, this is Helyas, which should come.
11:15: He that hath ears to hear whithall, let him hear.
11:16: But whereunto shall I liken this generation? it is like unto children, which sit in the market, and call unto their fellows,
11:17: and say: We have piped unto you, and ye have not danced? We have mourned unto you, and ye have not sorrowed.
11:18: For John came, neither eating nor drinking, and they say, he hath the devil.
11:19: The son of man came eating and drinking, and they say, behold a glutton, and drinker of wine, and a friend unto publicans, and sinners. And _{{Neverthelater}} wisdom is justified of her children.
11:20: Then began he to upbraid the cities, in which most of his miracles were done, because they did not repent._{{mended not.}}
11:21: Woe be to thee Chorasin. Woe be to thee Bethsaida, for if the miracles which were shewed in you, had been done in Tyre and in Sidon: they had _{{would have}} repented long agone in sackcloth and ashes.
11:22: Nevertheless I say to you, it shall be easier for Tyre and Sidon, at the day of judgement, than for you.
11:23: And thou Capernaum, which art lift up unto heaven, shalt be thrust_{brought} down to hell. For if the miracles which have been done in thee, had been shewed in Sodom, they had remained to this day.
11:24: Nevertheless I say unto you, it shall be easier for _{{the land of}} Sodom in the day of judgement, than for thee.
11:25: Then_{{At that time}} Jesus answered and said: I praise thee O father Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast opened them unto babes,
11:26: even so father, for so it pleased thee.
11:27: All things are given unto me of my father. And no man knoweth the son, but the father; neither knoweth any man the father, save the son, and he to whom the son will open him.
11:28: Come unto me all ye that labor, and are laden, and I will ease you.
11:29: Take my yoke on you, and learn of me, for I am meek, and lowly in_|of| heart: and ye shall find ease_{rest} unto your souls.
11:30: For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
The .xij. Chapter.
12:1: In that time went Jesus on the Sabbath day thorow the corn, and his disciples were anhungered,_|hungry| and began to pluck the ears of corn, and to eat.
12:2: When the pharisees had seen_{saw} that, they said unto him: Behold thy disciples do that which is not lawful (for them) to do upon the Sabbath day.
12:3: He said unto them: Have ye not read what David did, when he was anhungered, and they also which were with him?
12:4: How he entered into the house of God, and ate the hallowed loaves, which were not lawful for him to eat, neither for them which were with him, but only for the priests.
12:5: Or have ye not read in the law, how that (on the Sabbath days) the priests in the temple break the Sabbath day, and yet are blameless?
12:6: But I say unto you, that here is one greater than the temple.
12:7: Wherefore if ye had wist, what this saying meaneth: I require mercy, and not sacrifice,_{|(I haue pleasure in mercy, and not in offering)|} ye would never have condemned innocents.
12:8: For the son of man is Lord even of the Sabbath day.
12:9: And he departed thence, and went into their synagogue,
12:10: and behold, there was a man, which had his hand dried up. And they asked him saying: Is it lawful to heal upon the Sabbath day?_{days} because they might accuse him.
12:11: And he said unto them: which is he among you,_{{which of you would it be}} if he had a sheep fallen into a pit on the Sabbath day, that would not take him and lift him out?
12:12: And how much is a man better than a sheep? Wherefore it is lawful to do a good deed on the Sabbath day.
12:13: Then said he to the man: stretch forth thy hand, and he stretched _{it} forth, and it was again made even as whole as_{{like unto}} the other.
12:14: Then the pharisees went forth,_{out} and took_{{held a}} council against him, how they might destroy him.
12:15: When Jesus knew that, he departed thence, and much people followed him, and he healed them all;
12:16: and charged them, that they should not make him known,
12:17: to fulfil that which was spoken by Esay the prophet, which sayeth:
12:18: Behold my son,_{child} whom I have chosen, my darling,_{beloved} in whom my soul hath had delight._{{delighteth.}} I will put my spirit on him, and he shall shew judgement to the gentiles.
12:19: He shall not strive, he shall not cry, neither shall any man hear his voice in the streets,
12:20: a bruised reed, shall he not break, and flax that beginneth to burn he shall not quench, till he send forth judgement unto victory,
12:21: and in his name shall the gentiles trust.
12:22: Then was brought to him, one possessed with a devil which was both blind and dumb, and he healed him, insomuch that he which was blind and dumb, both spake and saw.
12:23: And all the people were amazed, and said: Is not this the son of David?
12:24: _{But} When the pharisees heard that, they said: He_{{This fellow}} driveth the devils no other wise out, but by the help of belzebub the chief of the devils.
12:25: But Jesus knew their thoughts, and said to them. Every kingdom divided with in itself shall be desolate._{{brought to nought.}} Neither shall any city or household divided against itself, continue.
12:26: So if satan cast out satan, then is he divided against_{{at variance within}} him self. How shall then his kingdom endure?
12:27: Also if I by the help of belzebub cast out devils: by whose help do your children cast them out? therefore they shall be your judges:
12:28: But if I cast out the devils by the spirit of God: then is the kingdom of God come on you?
12:29: Either how can a man enter into a mighty_{strong} man's house, and violently take away his goods, except he first bind the strong man, and then spoil his house?
12:30: He that is not with me, is against me: And he that gathereth not with me, scattereth abroad.
12:31: Wherefore I say unto you, all manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men, but the blasphemy against the holy ghost,_{{of the spirit}} shall not be forgiven unto men.
12:32: And whosoever speaketh a word against the son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but whosoever speaketh against the holy ghost, it shall not be forgiven him: no, neither in this world, neither in the world to come.
12:33: Either_{Other} make the tree good, and his fruit good also, or else make the tree evil, and his fruit evil also. For the tree is known by his fruit.
12:34: O generation of vipers, how can ye say well, when ye yourselves are evil? For of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaketh.
12:35: A good man out of the good treasure of his heart, bringeth forth good things. And an evil man out of his evil treasure, bringeth forth evil things.
12:36: But I say unto you, that of every idle word, that men shall have spoken, they shall give accounts at the day of judgement.
12:37: For by thy words thou shalt be justified: and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.
12:38: Then answered certain of the scribes and of the pharisees saying: Master, we would fain see a sign of thee.
12:39: He answered them saying: the evil and advoutrous generation seeketh a sign, but there shall no sign be given to them, but the sign of the prophet Jonas.
12:40: For as Jonas was three days, and three nights, in the whale's_{(huge fish's)} belly: so shall the son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.
12:41: The men of Nineveh shall rise at the day of judgement, with this nation, and condemn them: for they repented_{amended} at the preaching of Jonas. And behold a greater than Jonas is here.
12:42: The queen of the south shall rise at the day of judgement with this generation, and shall condemn them: for she came from the utmost parts of the world, to hear the wisdom of Solomon. And behold here is a greater than Solomon._{{is here.}}
12:43: When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh throughout dry places, seeking rest, and findeth none.
12:44: Then he sayeth: I will return again into my house, from whence I came out. And when he is come, he findeth the house empty and swept, and garnished.
12:45: Then he goeth his way, and taketh _{{unto him}} seven _{other} spirits worse than him self, and so enter they in and dwell there. And the end of that man is worse than the beginning. Even so shall it be to_{with} this froward_{evil} nation.
12:46: While he yet talked to the people: behold, his mother and his brethren stood without the doors, desiring to speak with him.
12:47: Then one said unto him: Behold thy mother and thy brethren stand without, desiring to speak with thee.
12:48: He answered and said to him that told him: Who is my mother? or who are my brethren?
12:49: And he stretched forth his hand over his disciples, and said: Behold my mother and my brethren.
12:50: For whosoever fulfilleth_{doth} my father's will which is in heaven, he_{{the same}} is my brother, my sister, and my mother.
The .xiij. Chapter.
13:1: The same day went Jesus out of the house, and sat by the sea side,
13:2: and much people resorted unto him, so greatly that he went, and sat in a ship, and all the people stood on the shore.
13:3: And he spake many things to them in similitudes, saying: Behold, the sower went forth to sow.
13:4: And as he sowed, some fell by the ways side, and the fowls came, and devoured it up.
13:5: Some fell upon stony ground where it had not much earth, and anon it sprong up, because it had no depth of earth:
13:6: And when the sun was up, it caught heat, and for lack of rooting withered away.
13:7: Some fell among thorns, and the thorns arose_{{sprong up}} and choked it.
13:8: Part fell in good ground, and brought forth good fruit: some an hundred fold, some fifty_{sixty} fold, some thirty fold.
13:9: Whosoever hath ears to hear, let him hear.
13:10: And his_{the} disciples came, and said to him: Why speakest thou to them in parables?
13:11: He answered and said unto them: It is given unto you to know the secrets of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given. _{(Keep the mysteries for me and for the sons of my house.)}
13:12: For whosoever hath, to him shall be given: and he shall have abundance. But whosoever hath not: from him shall be taken away even that same that he hath.
13:13: Therefore speak I to them in similitudes._|parables| For though they see, they see not: and hearing they hear not: nether understand.
13:14: And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Esay, which prophecy saith: with your_{the} ears ye shall hear, and shall not understand, and with your_{the} eyes ye shall see, and shall not perceive.
13:15: For this people's heart is_{{hearts are}} waxed gross. And their ears were dull of hearing, and their eyes have they closed, lest they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and should understand with their hearts, and should turn, that I might heal them.
13:16: But blessed are your eyes, for they see, and your ears, for they hear.
13:17: Verily I say unto you, that many prophets and perfect_|rigtheous| men have desired to see those things which ye see, and have not seen them: and to hear those things which ye hear, and have not heard them.
13:18: Hear ye therefore the similitude of the sower.
13:19: When a man_{Whosoever} heareth the word of the kingdom, and understandeth it not, there cometh the evil man, and catcheth away that which was sown in his heart. And this is he which was sown by the way side.
13:20: But he that was sown in the stony ground, is he, which heareth the word of God, and anon with joy receiveth it,
13:21: yet hath no roots in himself, and therefore dureth but a season: for as soon as tribulation_|trouble| or persecution ariseth be cause of the word, by and by he falleth._{|immediately he is offended|}
13:22: He that was sown among thorns, is he, that heareth the word of God, but the care of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word, and so is he made unfruitful.
13:23: He which is sown in the good ground, is he, that heareth the word and understandeth it, which also beareth fruit, and bringeth forth, some an hundred fold, some fifty_{sixty} fold, and some thirty fold.
13:24: Another similitude put he forth, unto them saying: The kingdom of heaven is like unto a man which sowed good seed in his field.
13:25: But while men slept, there came his foe, and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way.
13:26: When the blade was sprung up, and had brought forth fruit, then appeared the tares also.
13:27: The servants _{then} came to the householder, and said unto him. Sir sowest not thou good seed in thy close, from whence then hath it tares?
13:28: _{But} He said to them, the envious man hath done this. Then the servants said unto him: wilt thou then that we go and gather it?_{{weed them out?}}
13:29: and_{but} he said, nay, lest while ye go about to weed out the tares, ye pluck up also with them the wheat by the roots:
13:30: let both grow together_{{to gether}} till harvest come, and in time of harvest, I will say yea unto my_{{to the}} reapers, gather ye first the tares, and bind them in sheaves to be brent: but gather the wheat into my barn.
13:31: Another parable he put forth unto them saying: The kingdom of heaven is like unto a grain of mustard seed, which a man taketh and soweth in his field, which is the least of all seeds.
13:32: But when it is grown, it is the greatest among herbs, and _{it} is a tree: so that the birds of the air come, and build in the branches of it.
13:33: Another similitude said he to them. The kingdom of heaven is like unto leaven which a woman took_{taketh} and hideth in_{|mixt it among|} three pecks of meal, till all was_{be} leavened.
13:34: All these things spake Jesus unto the people by similitudes, and with out similitudes spake he nothing to them,
13:35: to fulfil that which was spoken by the prophet saying: I will open my mouth in similitudes, and will speak forth things which have been kept secret from the beginning of the world.
13:36: Then sent Jesus the people away, and came to house,_{home.} and his disciples came unto him, saying: declare unto us the similitude of the tares of_{in} the field:
13:37: Then answered he and said to them. He that soweth the good seed, is the son of man,
13:38: _{and} the field is the world._{(Gr. cosmos)} _{And} The children of the kingdom _{,they} are the good seed. _{And} The evil man's children are the tares._{{And the tares are the children of the wicked.}}
13:39: But_{And} the enemy which_{that} soweth it,_{them} is the devil. The harvest is the end of the world,_{(Gr. aeon)} and the reapers be the angels.
13:40: For even as the tares are gathered, and brent in the fire: so shall it be in the end of this world._{(Gr. soonteliah aion: consummation of the age)}
13:41: The son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that do hurt,_{offend} and all them which do iniquity,
13:42: and shall cast them into a furnace of fire. There shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.
13:43: Then shall the just men shine as bright as the son in the kingdom of their father. Whosoever hath ears to hear, let him hear.
13:44: Again the kingdom of heaven is like unto treasure hid in the field, the which a man found_{findeth} and hid_{hideth} it: and for joy thereof goeth and selleth all that he hath, and buyeth that field.
13:45: Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a merchant, seeking_{{that seeketh}} good pearls,
13:46: which when he had found one precious pearl, went and sold all that he had, and bought it.
13:47: Again the kingdom of heaven is like unto a net cast in to the sea, that gathereth of all kinds (of fishes):
13:48: the which when it is full, men draw to land, and sit and gather the good into their vessels, and cast the bad away.
13:49: So shall it be at the end of the world._{(Gr. aeon)} The angels shall come_{{go out}} and sever the bad from the good,_|righteous|
13:50: and shall cast them in to a furnace of fire, there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.
13:51: Jesus said unto them: Have ye understood_{{Understand ye}} all these things? They said, yea sir._{{ye Lorde.}}
13:52: Then said he unto them: Therefore every scribe which is conning_{taught} unto the kingdom of heaven, is like an householder, which bringeth forth, out of his treasure, things both new and old.
13:53: And it came to pass when Jesus had finished these similitudes that he departed thence,
13:54: and came in to his own country, and taught them in their synagogues, insomuch that they were astonied, and said: Whence came_{cometh} all this wisdom and power unto him?
13:55: Is not this the carpenter's son? Is not his mother called Mary? and his brethren be called, James and Joses and Simon and Judas?
13:56: And are not his sisters all here with us? Whence hath he all these things.
13:57: And they were hurt_{offended} by him. Then Jesus said unto them: there is no prophet_{{a prophet is not}} without honour, save in his own country, and among his own kin.
13:58: And he did not many miracles there, for their unbelief's sake.
The .xiiij. Chapter.
14:1: In_{At} that time Herod the tetrarcha heard of the fame of Jesu,
14:2: and said unto his servants: This is John _{the} baptist, he is risen again from death, and therefore his power is so great._{{therefore are such miracles wrought by him.}}
14:3: For Herod took_{{had taken}} John and bound him, and put him in prison for Herodias' sake, his brother Philip's wife.
14:4: For John said unto him: It is not lawful for thee to have her.
14:5: And when he would have put him to death, he feared the people, because they counted him as a prophet.
14:6: _{But} When Herod's birth day was come the daughter of Herodias danced before them, and pleased Herod.
14:7: Wherefore he promised with an oath, that he would give her whatsoever she would ask.
14:8: And she being informed of her mother before, said give me here John baptist's head in a platter.
14:9: And the King sorrowed:_{|was sorry|} nevertheless for his oath's sake, and for their sakes which sat also at the table, he commanded it to be given her.
14:10: And sent and beheaded John in the prison,
14:11: and his head was brought in a platter, and given to the damsel, and she brought it to her mother.
14:12: And his disciples came, and took up his body, and buried it: And went and told Jesus.
14:13: When Jesus had heard that, he departed thence by ship into a desert place out of the way. And when the people had heard thereof, they followed him afoot out of their cities.
14:14: And Jesus went forth and saw much people: and his heart did melt upon them, and he healed of them those that were sick.
14:15: When even was come, his disciples came to him saying: This is a desert place, and the day is spent, let the people depart that they may go in to the towns, and buy them vitailles.
14:16: But Jesus said unto them: They have no need to go away: Give ye them to eat.
14:17: Then said they unto him: We have here but five loaves, and two fishes.
14:18: _{And} He said: Bring them hither to me.
14:19: And he commanded, the people to sit down on the grass, and took the five loaves, and the two fishes, and looked up to heaven, and blessed,_{|gave thanks|} and brake, and gave the loaves to his disciples, and the disciples gave them to the people.
14:20: And they all ate,_{{did all eat}} and were sufficed. And they gathered up of the gobbets that remained twelve baskets full.
14:21: _{And} They that ate were in number about five thousand men, besides women and children.
14:22: And straight way Jesus made his disciples enter in to a ship, and to go over before him, while he sent the people away.
14:23: And as soon as he had sent the people away, he went up into a mountain alone to pray. And when night was come he was there himself alone.
14:24: And the ship was _{now} in the midst of the sea,_{(many stadia distant from the land)} and was tossed with waves, for it was a contrary wind.
14:25: In the fourth watch of the night Jesus came unto them, walking on the sea:
14:26: and when his disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were amazed,_{troubled} saying: it is some spirit, and cried out for fear.
14:27: And straightway Jesus spake unto them saying: be of good cheer, it is I, be not afraid.
14:28: Peter answered, _{him} and said: Master, and_{if} thou be he, bid me come unto thee on the water.
14:29: And he said come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus.
14:30: But when he saw a mighty wind, he was afraid. And as he began to sink, he cried saying: Master save me.
14:31: And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said to him: O thou of little faith: wherefore didst thou doubt?
14:32: And as soon as they were come into the ship, the wind ceased.
14:33: Then they that were in the ship came and worshipped him,_{|fell down before him|} saying: Of a truth thou art the son of God.
14:34: And when they were come over, they went in to the land of Genazareth.
14:35: And when the men of that place had knowledge of him, they sent out into all that country round about, and brought unto him all that were sick,
14:36: and besought him, that they might touch the border_{hem} of his vesture only. And as many as touched it,_{hytt} were made safe._|whole|
The .xv. Chapter.
15:1: Then came to Jesus: scribes and pharisees from Jerusalem, saying:
15:2: Why do thy disciples transgress the traditions of the seniors?_{elders?} for they wash not their hands, when they eat bread.
15:3: He answered, and said unto them: why do ye also transgress the commandment of God, thorow your traditions?
15:4: For God commanded, saying: honour thy father and mother, and he that speaketh evil against_{curseth} his father or mother, shall suffer death.
15:5: But ye say, every man shall say to his father or mother: whatsoever thing I offer, that same doth profit thee,_{{that which thou desirest of me to help thee with: is given God:}}
15:6: and so shall he not honour his father and_{{or his}} mother. And thus have ye made, that the commandment _{(word or law)} of God is with out effect, through your traditions.
15:7: Hypocrites, well prophesied of you, Esay saying:
15:8: This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouths, and honoureth me with their lips, yet_{howbeit} their hearts are far from me:
15:9: but in vain they worship me teaching doctrine,_{doctrines} which is_{are} nothing but men's precepts._{|commandments of men|}
15:10: And he called the people unto him, and said to them: hear and understand.
15:11: That which goeth in to the mouth, defileth not the man: but that which cometh out of the mouth, defileth the man.
15:12: Then came his disciples, and said unto him: Perceivest thou, _{not} how that the pharisees are offended _{in} hearing this saying?
15:13: He answered, and said: All plants which my heavenly father hath not planted, shall be plucked up by the roots.
15:14: Let them alone, they be the blind leaders of the blind. If the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch.
15:15: Then answered Peter and said to him: declare unto us this parable.
15:16: Then said Jesus: Are ye yet withouten understanding:
15:17: perceive ye not, that whatsoever goeth in at the mouth, descendeth down into the belly, and is cast out into the draught?
15:18: But those things which proceed out of the mouth come from the heart, and they defile a_{the} man.
15:19: For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murder, breaking of wedlock, whoredom, theft, false witness bearing, blasphemy.
15:20: These are the things which defile a man. But to eat with unwashen hands, defileth not a man.
15:21: And Jesus went thence, and departed into the coasts of Tyre and Sidon.
15:22: And behold a woman which was a Canaanite came out of the same coasts, and cried unto him, saying: have mercy on me Lord the_{thou} son of David, my daughter is piteously vexed with a devil.
15:23: And he gave her never a word to answer. Then came to him his disciples, and besought him saying: Send her away, for she followeth us crying.
15:24: He answered, and said: I am not sent, but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel.
15:25: Then she came and worshipped him,_{|fell down before him|} saying: Master_|LORDE| succor_{help} me.
15:26: He answered and said: It is not good, to take the children's bread, and to cast it to whelps.
15:27: She answered and said: It is truth,_{|Truthe LORDE|} nevertheless the whelps eat of the crumbs, which fall from their masters' table.
15:28: Then Jesus answered and said unto her. O woman great is thy faith, be it to thee, even as thou desirest. And her daughter was made whole even at that same time._{hour.}
15:29: Then Jesus went away from thence, and came nigh unto the sea of Galilee, and went up in to a mountain, and sat down there.
15:30: And much people came unto him having with them, halt, blind, dumb, maimed, and other many: and cast them down at Jesus' feet. And he healed them,
15:31: insomuch that the people wondered, to see the dumb speak, _{(and hearing)} the maimed whole, and the halt to go, the blind to see, and _{they} glorified the God of Israel.
15:32: _{Then} Jesus called his disciples to him and said: I have compassion on the people, because they have continued with me now three days, and have nothing_{nought} to eat: and I will not let them depart fasting lest they perish in the way.
15:33: And his disciples said unto him: whence should we get so much bread in the wilderness as should suffice so great a multitude?
15:34: And Jesus said unto them: how many loaves have ye? And they said: Seven, and a few _{little} fishes.
15:35: And he commanded the people to sit down on the ground.
15:36: And took the seven loaves, and the fishes, and gave thanks, and brake them, and gave to his disciples, and his_{the} disciples gave them to the people.
15:37: And they all ate,_{{did all eat}} and were sufficed. And they took up of the broken meat that was left seven baskets full.
15:38: _{{And yet}} They that ate were four thousand men, beside women and children.
15:39: And he sent away the people, and took ship and came into the parts of Magdala.
The .xvj. Chapter.
16:1: Then came to him the pharisees with the sadducees also, and did tempt him, desiring that he would_{{him to}} shew them some sign from heaven.
16:2: He answered and said unto them: At even ye say, we shall have fair weather, and that because the sky is red:
16:3: _{And} In the morning: ye say, today shall be foul weather, and that because the sky is tremulous_{cloudy} and red. O ye hypocrites, ye can discern the fashion of the sky: and can ye not discern the signs of the times?
16:4: The froward nation, and advoutrous, seeketh a sign: _{and} there shall none other sign be given unto them, but the sign of the prophet Jonas. So left he them and departed.
16:5: And when his disciples were come to the other side of the water, they had forgotten to take bread with them.
16:6: Then Jesus said unto them: Take heed and beware of the leaven of the pharisees, and of the sadducees.
16:7: _{And} They thought among_{in} themselves saying: _{because} we have brought no bread with us.
16:8: When Jesus understood that,_{|perceived it|} he said unto them. O ye of little faith, why are your minds cumbered because ye have brought no bread?
16:9: Do ye not yet perceive, neither remember those five loaves, when there were five thousand men, and how many baskets took ye up?
16:10: Neither the seven loaves, when there were four thousand:_{{iiiii. M.}} and how many baskets took ye up?
16:11: Why perceive ye not then, that I spake not unto you of bread, when I said, beware of the leaven of the pharisees and of the sadducees?
16:12: Then understood they, how that he bade not them beware of the leaven of bread: but of the doctrine of the pharisees, and of the sadducees.
16:13: When Jesus came into the coasts of the city which is called Cesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples saying: Whom do men say that I the son of man am?
16:14: They said: Some say that thou art John baptist, some Helyas, some Jeremias, or one of the prophets.
16:15: He said unto them: But whom say ye that I am?
16:16: Simon Peter answered, and said: Thou art Christ the son of the living God.
16:17: And Jesus answered and said to him: Happy_|Blessed| art thou Simon the son of Jonas, for flesh and blood have_{hath} not opened unto thee that, but my father which is in heaven.
16:18: And I say also unto thee, that thou art Peter. And upon this rock I will build my congregation: and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
16:19: And I will give unto thee, the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatsoever thou bindest upon earth, it shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou loosest_{lowsest} on earth, it shall be loosed_{lowsed} in heaven.
16:20: Then he charged his disciples, that they should tell no man, that he was Jesus the Christ.
16:21: From that time forth, Jesus began to shew unto his disciples, how that he must go unto Jerusalem, and suffer many things of the seniors,_{elders} and of the high_{hye} priests, and of the scribes, and must be killed, and rise again the third day.
16:22: _{But} Peter took him aside, and began to rebuke him saying: Master favor thy self, this shall not come unto thee.
16:23: Then turned he about, and said unto Peter: go_{come} after me Satan, thou offendest me, because thou perceivest_{{favourest or savourest}} not godly things: but worldly things.
16:24: Jesus then said to his disciples. If any man will follow me, let him forsake himself, and take up his cross and follow me.
16:25: For whosoever will save his life, shall loose it. And whosoever shall loose his life for my sake, shall find it._{{loose, exact spelling; from the hebrew to open, may be also lose, or subdue}}
16:26: What shall it profit_{|What helpeth|} a man, if_{though} he should win all the whole world: so_{if} he loose his own soul?_{|and yet suffer harm in his soul?|} Or else what shall a man give to redeem his soul again withal?
16:27: For the son of man shall come in the glory of his father, with his angels, and then shall he reward every man according to his deeds.
16:28: Verily I say unto you, some there be among them that here stand, which shall not taste of death, till they shall have seen the son of man come in his kingdom.
The .xvij. Chapter.
17:1: And after six days Jesus took Peter and James and John his brother, and brought them up into an high mountain out of the way,
17:2: and was transfigured before them: and his face did shine as the sun, and his clothes were as white as the light.
17:3: And behold there appeared unto them Moses and Helyas talking with him.
17:4: Then answered Peter, and said to Jesus: Master here is good being for us. If thou wilt, let us make here three tabernacles, one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Helyas.
17:5: While he yet spake, behold a bright cloud shadowed them. And lo_{{behold there came}} a voice out of the cloud said:_{saying:} This is my dear son, in whom I delight, hear him.
17:6: And when the disciples heard that, they fell on their faces, and were sore afraid.
17:7: And Jesus came and touched them, and said: Arise and be not afraid.
17:8: Then lift they up their eyes, and_{{And when they looked up, they}} saw no man, but_{save} Jesus only._{onely.}
17:9: And as they came down from the mountain, he_{Jesus} charged them saying: See that ye shew this _{{tell the}} vision to no man, til the son of man be risen again from death.
17:10: And his disciples asked of him, saying: Why then say the scribes, that Helias must first come?
17:11: Jesus answered, and said unto them: Helias shall first come, and restore all things.
17:12: And I say unto you, that Helias is come already: And they knew him not, but have done unto him whatsoever they lusted. In likewise shall also the son of man suffer of them.
17:13: Then his_{the} disciples perceived, that he spake unto them of John baptist.
17:14: And when they were come to the people, there came to him a certain man, and kneeled down to him saying:_{{and said:}}
17:15: Master have mercy on my son, for he is frantic,_{lunatic} and is sore vexed. And ofttimes _{he} falleth in to the fire, and oft into the water.
17:16: And I brought him to thy disciples, and they could not heal him.
17:17: Jesus answered and said: O generation faithless, and crooked: how long shall I be with you? how long shall I suffer you? bring him hither to me.
17:18: And Jesus rebuked the devil, and he came out. _{{of him}} And the child was healed even that same hour.
17:19: Then came his_{the} disciples_{{to Jesus}} secretly and said: Why could not we cast him out?
17:20: Jesus said unto them: Because of your unbelief. For I say verily unto you, if ye had faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye should say unto this mountain, remove hence to yonder place, and he should remove: Neither should any thing be unpossible for you to do.
17:21: But_{Howbeit} this kind, goeth not out but by prayer and fasting.
17:22: While_{As} they passed the time in Galilee, Jesus said unto them, the son of man shall be betrayed into the hands of men,
17:23: and they shall kill him, and the third day he shall rise again. And they sorrowed greatly.
17:24: _{And} When they were come to Capernaum: They that were wont to gather poll money, came to Peter and said: Doth your Master pay tribute?
17:25: He said: Yea. And when he was come into the house, Jesus spake first to him, saying: What thinkest thou Simon? of whom do the kings of the earth take tribute, or poll money? of their children, or of strangers?
17:26: Peter said unto him: Of strangers. Then said Jesus unto him again: Then are the children free.
17:27: Nevertheless, lest we should offend them: go to the sea and cast in thine angle, and take the fish that first cometh up: and when thou hast opened his mouth, thou shalt find a piece of twelve_{twenty} pence that take and pay for me and thee.
The .xviij. Chapter.
18:1: The same time the disciples came to Jesus saying: Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?
18:2: Jesus called a child unto him, and set him in the midst of them,
18:3: and said: Verily I say unto you, except ye turn, and become as children, ye cannot enter in to the kingdom of heaven.
18:4: Whosoever therefore shall submit_{humble} him self as this child, he_{{the same}} is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.
18:5: And whosoever receiveth such a child in my name, receiveth me.
18:6: But whosoever offend one of these little ones, which believe in me: it were better for him, that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea.
18:7: Woe be unto the world because of evil occasions._{offenses,}_|slanders| It is necessary that evil occasions_{{How be it, it cannot be avoided but that offences shall}} be given, nevertheless woe be to that_{the} man, by whom evil occasion_{{the offense}} cometh.
18:8: Wherefore if thy hand, or thy foot, give thee an occasion of evil:_{{offend thee}} cut him off, and cast him from thee. It is better for thee to enter in to life halt or maimed, rather than thou shouldest having two hands or two feet, be cast in to everlasting fire.
18:9: And if also thine eye offend thee, pluck him out and cast him from thee. It is better for thee, to enter in to life with one eye, than having two eyes to be cast into hellfire.
18:10: See that ye despise not one of these little ones. For I say unto you, that in heaven their angels _{always} behold the face of my father, which is in heaven.
18:11: Yea, and the son of man is come to save that which is lost.
18:12: How think ye? If a man have an hundred sheep, and one of them should go_{{be gone}} astray, will_{doth} he not leave ninety and nine in the mountains, and go and seek that one which is gone astray?
18:13: If it happen that he find him, verily I say unto you, he rejoiceth more of that sheep, then of the ninety and nine, which went not astray.
18:14: Even so it_{hit} is not the will of your father in heaven, that one of these little ones should perish.
18:15: More over if thy brother trespass against thee. Go and tell him his fault between him and thee alone. If he hear thee, thou hast won thy brother:
18:16: But if he hear thee not, then take yet with thee one or two, that in the mouth of two or three witnesses, all things may stand._{{be established.}}
18:17: If he hear not them, tell it unto the congregation: if he hear not the congregation, take him as an heathen man, and as a publican.
18:18: Verily I say unto you whatsoever ye bind on earth, shall be bound in heaven. And whatsoever ye loose_{lowse} on earth, shall be loosed_{lowsed} in heaven.
18:19: Again (amen) I say unto you that if two of you shall agree in earth in_{upon} any manner thing whatsoever they shall desire: it shall be given them of my father which is in heaven.
18:20: For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst_{myddes} of them.
18:21: Then came Peter to him, and said: Master, how oft shall my brother trespass against me, and I shall forgive him?_{{how oft shall I forgive my brother, if he sin against me}} shall I forgive him seven times?
18:22: Jesus said unto him: I say not unto thee seven times: but seventy times seven times.
18:23: Therefore is the kingdom of heaven likened unto a certain King, which would take accounts of his servants,
18:24: and when he had begun to reckon, one was brought unto him, which ought him ten thousand talents:
18:25: but when_{{whom because}} he had nought to pay, the lord_{{his master}} commanded him to be sold, and his wife, and his children: and all that he had, and payment to be made.
18:26: The servant fell down and besought him saying: Sir, give me respite, and I will pay it every whit.
18:27: Then had the lord pity on that servant, and loosed_{lowsed,}_|discharged| him, and forgave him the debt.
18:28: The same_{{And the said}} servant went out and found one of his fellows, which ought him an hundred pence. And laid hands on him, and took him by the throat, saying: pay _{me} that thou owest.
18:29: And his fellow fell down, and besought him, saying: have patience with me, and I will pay thee all.
18:30: And he would not, but went and cast him in to prison, till he should pay the debt.
18:31: When his other fellows saw what was done, they were very sorry, and came and told unto their lord all that had happened.
18:32: Then the_{his} lord called him, and said unto him. O evil_{|thou wicked|} servant, I forgave thee all that debt, be cause thou praydest me:
18:33: Was it not mete also, that thou shouldest have had compassion on thy fellow, even as I had pity on thee?
18:34: And his lord was wroth, and delivered him to the jailers, till he should pay all that was due to him.
18:35: So like wise shall your_{my} heavenly father do unto you, if ye will not_{{except ye}} forgive with your hearts, each one to his brother their trespasses.

19:1: And it followed_{{came to pass}} when Jesus had finished those sayings, he gat him from Galilee, and came in to the coasts of Jewry beyond Jordan,
19:2: and much people followed him, and he healed them there.
19:3: Then came unto him the pharisees to tempt him, and said to him: Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife for all_|any| manner of causes?
19:4: He answered, and said unto them: Have ye not read, how that he which made man at the beginning, made them man and woman?
19:5: and said: For this thing,_|cause| shall a man leave father and mother, and cleave unto his wife, and they twain shall be one flesh.
19:6: Wherefore now are they not twain, but one flesh. Let not man therefore put asunder, that which God hath coupled together._{{to gydder}}
19:7: Then said they to him: Why did Moses command to give unto her a testimonial of divorcement, and to put her away?
19:8: He said unto them: Moses be cause of the hardness of your hearts suffered you to put away your wives: But from the beginning it was not so.
19:9: I say therefore unto you, whosoever putteth away his wife (except it be for fornication) and marrieth another, breaketh wedlock. And whosoever marrieth her which is divorced, doth commit advoutry.
19:10: Then spake_{said} his disciples to him: if the matter be so between man and wife, then is it not good to marry.
19:11: He said unto them: all men cannot away with_|comprehend| that saying but_{save} they to whom it is given.
19:12: There are chaste, which were so born out of their mother's belly. And there are chaste, which be made chaste of men. And there be chaste, which have made themselves chaste for the kingdom of heavens' sake. He that can take_|comprehend| it let him take_|comprehend| it.
19:13: Then were brought to him young children, that he should put his hands on them and pray. And his_{the} disciples rebuked them.
19:14: _{But} Jesus said unto them: suffer the children, and forbid them not to come to me, for unto_{of} such belongeth_{is} the kingdom of heaven.
19:15: And when he had put his hands on them, he departed thence.
19:16: And behold one came, and said unto him: Good master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal_{|ever lasting|} life?
19:17: He said unto him: Why callest thou me good?_{(regarding good)} there is none good but one, and that is God._{(the Heavenly Father)} But and_{if} thou wilt enter in to life, keep the commandments.
19:18: He_{{The other}} said: Which? And Jesus said: Thou shalt not kill: thou shalt not break wedlock. Thou shall not steal: thou shalt not bear false witness.
19:19: Honour father and mother: and thou shalt love thine neighbor as thyself.
19:20: _{And} The young man said unto him: I have observed all these things from my youth, what have I more to do?_{{what lack I yet?}}
19:21: _{And} Jesus said unto him: if thou wilt be perfect, go and sell (all) that thou hast, and give it to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven, and come and follow me:
19:22: When the young man heard that saying,_|word| he went away mourning._|sorry| For he had great possessions.
19:23: _{Then} Jesus said then unto his disciples: Verily I say unto you, a rich man shall with difficulty_{{it is hard for a rich man to}} enter into the kingdom of heaven.
19:24: And moreover I say unto you: it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of Heaven._{God.}
19:25: When his disciples heard that, they were exceedingly amazed, _(afraid) saying: Who then can be saved?
19:26: Jesus beheld them, and said unto them: With men this is unpossible, but with God all things are possible.
19:27: Then answered Peter, and said to him: Behold we have forsaken all, and have followed thee: what shall we have therefore?
19:28: Jesus said unto them: Verily I say unto you, that ye, which have followed me in the second generation (when the son of man shall sit in the seat of his majesty) shall sit also upon twelve seats, and judge the twelve tribes of Israel._{{verily I say to you: when the son of man shall sit in the seat of his majesty, ye which follow me in the second generation shall sit also upon twelve seats, and judge the twelve tribes of Israel.}}
19:29: And whosoever forsaketh house,_{houses} or brethren, or sisters, other_{or} father, or mother, or wife, or children, or livelihood,_{lands} for my name's sake, the same shall receive an hundred fold, _(manifold) and shall inherit everlasting life.
19:30: Many that are first, shall be last and the last, shall be first.
The .xx. Chapter.
20:1: For the kingdom of heaven is like unto an householder which went out early in the morning to hire laborers into his vineyard.
20:2: And he agreed with the laborers for a penny a day, and sent them in to his vineyard.
20:3: And he went out about the third hour, and saw other standing idle in the market place,
20:4: and said unto them: go ye also into my vineyard, and whatsoever is right, I will give you: and they went their way.
20:5: Again he went out about the sixth and ninth hour, and did likewise.
20:6: And he went out about the eleventh hour and found other standing idle, and said unto them: Why stand ye here all the day idle?
20:7: They said unto him: Because no man hath hired us. He said to them: go ye also into my vineyard, and whatsoever shall be_{is} right, that shall ye receive.
20:8: When even was come, the lord of the vineyard, said unto his steward: call the laborers, and give them their hire, beginning at the last, till thou come to the first.
20:9: And they which were hired about the eleventh hour, came and received every man a penny.
20:10: Then came the first, supposing that they should receive more, and they like wise received every man a penny.
20:11: And when they had received it, they grudged_{murmured} against the good man of the house, saying:
20:12: These last have wrought but one hour, and thou hast made them equal unto us which have borne the burden and heat of the day.
20:13: He answered to one of them, saying: Friend I do thee no wrong: didst thou not agree with me for a penny?
20:14: Take that which is thy duty, and go thy way. I will give unto this last, as much as to thee.
20:15: Is it not lawful for me to do as me listeth, with mine own? Is thine eye evil because I am good?
20:16: So the last shall be first, and the first shall be last. For many are called, and few be chosen.
20:17: And Jesus ascended_{|went up|} to Jerusalem, and took the twelve disciples apart_|aside| in the way, and said to them:
20:18: Lo_{Behold} we go up to Jerusalem, and the son of man shall be betrayed unto the chief priests, and unto the scribes, and they shall condemn him to death,
20:19: and shall deliver him to the gentiles, to be mocked, to be scourged, and to be crucified: and the third day he shall rise again.
20:20: Then came to him the mother of Zebedee's children with her sons, worshipping him,_{|fell down before him|} and desiring a certain thing of him.
20:21: _{And} He said unto her: What wilt thou have? She said unto him: Grant that these my two sons may sit, _{the} one on thy right hand, and the other on thy left hand in thy kingdom.
20:22: Jesus answered, and said: Ye wot not what ye ask. Are ye able to drink of the cup that I shall drink of? And to be baptised with the baptism, that I shall be baptised with? They answered to him: That we are.
20:23: _{And} He said unto them: Ye shall drink of my cup, and shall be baptised with the baptism that I shall be baptised with all._{with.} But to sit on my right hand, and on my left hand, is not mine to give you: but to them for whom it is prepared of my father.
20:24: And when the ten heard this, they disdained at the two brethren.
20:25: But Jesus called them unto him, and said: Ye know, that the lords of the gentiles have domination over them. And they that are great, exercise power over them.
20:26: It shall not be so among you: But whosoever will be great among you, let him be your minister,
20:27: and whosoever will be chief, let him be your servant.
20:28: Even as the son of man came, not to be ministered_|served| unto, but to minister:_{|to do service|} and to give his life for the redemption of many. _{(But do ye seek from little to wax great, and not from greater to become less? And, when ye are bidden to the house of a supper, not to lie upon the chief places, lest there come afterward a more honourable than thou and the lord of the supper having come up say to thee: Make room lower and thou be ashamed in the eyes of the guests. But, if thou lie upon the lesser place and there come afterward a lesser than thou, the lord of the supper will say to thee: Draw in higher and thou shalt have more glory in the eyes of the guests.)}
20:29: And as they departed from Hiericho, much people followed him.
20:30: And behold, two blind men sitting by the wayside, when they heard, that Jesus passed by, cried saying: Master the_{|O LORDE thou|} son of David have mercy on us.
20:31: And the people rebuffed_{rebuked} them, because they should hold their peace: But they cried the more, saying: have mercy on us master which art the_{|O LORDE thou|} son of David.
20:32: Then Jesus stood still, and called them, and said: What will ye that I should do to you?
20:33: They said unto him: Master,_(LORd) that our eyes may be opened.
20:34: Jesus pitied_{{had compassion on}} them, and touched their eyes. And immediately their eyes received sight: And they followed him.

21:1: When they drew nigh unto Jerusalem, and were come to Bethphage, unto mount Olivet: then sent Jesus two of his disciples,
21:2: saying to them: Go into the town that lieth over against you, and anon ye shall find an ass bound, and her colt with her, loose them and bring them unto me.
21:3: And if any man say ought unto you, say ye that your master_{(the LORd)} hath need of them, and straight way he will let them go.
21:4: All this was done, to fulfil that which was spoken by the prophet, saying:
21:5: Tell ye the daughter of Sion: behold thy King cometh unto thee meek, _{and} sitting upon an ass and a colt, the foal of an ass used to the yoke.
21:6: The disciples went, and did as Jesus commanded them,
21:7: and brought the ass and the colt, and put on them their clothes, and set _(sat) him thereon.
21:8: _{And} Many of the people spread their garments in the way. Other cut down branches from the trees, and strawed them in the way.
21:9: Moreover the people that went before, and they also that came after cried saying: Hosianna to the son of David. Blessed be he that cometh in the name of the Lord;_|LORDE| Hosianna in the highest._{hyest}
21:10: And when he was come in to Jerusalem, all the city was moved, saying: Who is this?
21:11: And the people said: This is Jesus the Prophet of Nazareth a city of Galilee.
21:12: And Jesus went in to the temple of God, and cast out all them that bought and sold in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold doves.
21:13: And said to them: It is written, mine_{my} house shall be called the house of prayer, but ye have made it a den of thieves._|murthurers|
21:14: And the blind and the halt came to him in the temple, and he healed them.
21:15: When the chief priests and scribes saw the marvels_|wonders| that he did, and the children crying in the temple and saying; Hosianna to the son of David, they disdained,
21:16: and said unto him: Hearest thou what these say? Jesus said unto them: _{yea} have ye never read, of the mouth of babes and sucklings thou hast ordained praise?
21:17: And he left them, and went out of the city unto Bethany, and passed the time_{{had his abiding}} there.
21:18: In the morning as he returned into the city again, he hungered,
21:19: and spied a fig tree in the way, and came to it, and found nothing thereon, but leaves only, and said to it, never fruit grow on thee hence forwards. And anon_{|immediately|} the fig tree withered away.
21:20: And when his disciples saw that, they marveled saying: How soon is the fig tree withered away?
21:21: Jesus answered, and said unto them: Verily I say unto you, if ye shall have faith, and shall not doubt, ye shall not only do that which I have done to the fig tree: but also if ye shall say unto this mountain, take thyself away, and cast thyself into the sea, it shall be done.
21:22: And whatsoever thing ye shall ask (rectifiedly) in your prayers if ye believe, ye shall receive it.
21:23: And when he was come into the temple, the chief priests and the seniors_{elders} of the people came unto him as he was teaching, and said: By what authority doest thou these things? and who gave thee this power?_|authority|
21:24: Jesus answered, and said unto them: I also will ask of you a certain question, which if ye assoil me, I in like wise will tell you by what authority I do these things.
21:25: Whence was the baptism of John?_{{The baptime of John: whence was it?}} from heaven, or of men? And they thought in_{{Then they reasoned among}} themselves, saying: If we shall say, from heaven, he will say unto us: why did ye not then believe him?
21:26: But and if we shall say of men, then fear we the people. For all men held John as a prophet.
21:27: And they answered Jesus, and said: We cannot tell. _{And} He likewise said unto them: neither tell I you by what authority I do these things.
21:28: What say ye to this? A certain man had two sons, and came to the elder saying:_{{and said: son}} go and work today in my vineyard.
21:29: He answered and said, I will not: but afterward repented and went.
21:30: Then came he to the second, and said like wise, and he answered and said: I will sir: yet went he not.
21:31: Whether of these two fulfilled their father's will?_{{Whether of them twain did the will of the father?}} And they said unto him: The first. Jesus said unto them: Verily I say unto you, that the publicans and the harlots shall come into the kingdom of God before you.
21:32: For John came unto you, in the way of righteousness, and ye believed him not. But the publicans and the whores_{harlots} believed him. But_{{And yet}} ye (though ye saw it) yet were not moved with repentance, that ye might afterward have believed him.
21:33: Hearken another similitude. There was a certain householder, which set_{planted} a vineyard, and hedged it round about, and made a winepress in it, and built a tower, and let it out to husbandmen, and went into a strange country.
21:34: And when the time of the fruit drew near, he sent his servants to the husbandmen, to receive the fruits of it,
21:35: and the husbandmen caught his servants, and beat one, killed another, and stoned another.
21:36: Again he sent other servants more than the first, and they served them likewise.
21:37: But last of all, he sent unto them his own son, saying: they will fear my son.
21:38: _{But} When the husbandmen saw his_{the} son, they said among them selves: This is the heir, come on let us kill him, and let us take his inheritance, to our selves.
21:39: And they caught him and thrust him out of the vineyard, and slew him.
21:40: When the lord of the vineyard cometh: what will he do with those husbandmen?
21:41: They said unto him: he will evil_{cruelly} destroy those evil persons, and will let out his vineyard unto other husbandmen, which shall deliver him his_{the} fruit at times convenient.
21:42: Jesus said unto them: did ye never read in the scriptures? The same stone which the builders refused,_{{the same}} is set in the principal part of the corner: this was the Lord's_|LORDES| doing, and it is marvelous in our eyes.
21:43: Therefore say I unto you, the kingdom of God shall be taken from you, and shall be given to the Gentiles which shall bring forth the fruits of it.
21:44: And whosoever shall fall on this stone, _{he} shall be alto broken. And_{{but on}} whosoever this stone_{it} shall fall upon, he shall_{{it will}} grind him to powder._{|And who so falleth upon this stone, shalbe broken in pieces, and look upon whom it falleth, it shall grind him to poulder.|}
21:45: And when the chief priests and pharisees heard these similitudes they perceived that he spake of them.
21:46: And they went about to lay hands on him, but they feared the people, because they counted_{took} him as a prophet.

22:1: And Jesus answered and spake unto them again, in similitudes, saying:
22:2: The kingdom of heaven is like unto a certain King, which married his son,
22:3: and sent forth his servants, to call them that were bid to the wedding, and they would not come.
22:4: Again he sent forth other servants, saying: tell them which are bidden: Lo_{behold} I have prepared my dinner, mine oxen and my fatlings_{|fed cattle|} are killed, and all things are ready, come unto the marriage.
22:5: _{But} They made light of it, and went their ways: one to his firm place,_|husbandry| another about his merchandise,
22:6: the remnant took his servants, and intreated them ungoodly,_|shamefully| and slew them.
22:7: When the King heard that, he was wroth, and sent forth his warriors and destroyed those murderers, and burnt up their city.
22:8: Then said he to his servants: The wedding was prepared: but they which were bidden thereto, were not worthy.
22:9: Go ye therefore out into the high_{hye} ways, and as many as ye find, bid them to the marriage.
22:10: The servants went out into the _{hye} ways, and gathered together_{togedder} as many as they could find, both good and bad, and the wedding _(feast) was furnished with guests.
22:11: _{Then} The King came in, to visit the guests, and spied there a man which had not on a wedding garment,

22:13: Then said the King to his ministers: Take and bind him hand and foot, and cast him into utter darkness, there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
22:14: For many are called and few be chosen.
22:15: Then went the pharisees and took counsel, how they might tangle him in his words.
22:16: And _{they} sent unto him their disciples with Herod's servants,_|officers| saying: Master, we know that thou art true, and that thou teachest the way of God truly, neither carest for any man, for thou considerest not men's estate._{|regardest not the outward appearaunce of men.|}
22:17: Tell us therefore: how thinkest thou? is it lawful to give tribute unto Cesar,_{|the Emperoure|} or not?
22:18: Jesus perceived their wickedness, and said: Why tempt ye me ye hypocrites?
22:19: Let me see the tribute money. And they took him a penny.
22:20: And he said unto them: Whose is this image and superscription?
22:21: They said unto him: Cesar's. Then said he unto them: Give therefore to Cesar, that which is Cesar's: and give unto God,_{god} that which is God's._{goddes}
22:22: When they heard that they marveled, and left him and went their way.
22:23: The same day the sadducees came to him (which say that there is no resurrection) and they asked him
22:24: saying: Master, Moses bade, if a man die having no children, that the brother marry his wife, and raise up seed unto his brother.
22:25: There were with us seven brethren, _{and} the first married and died_{deceased} without issue, and left his wife unto his brother.
22:26: Likewise the second and the third, unto the seventh:
22:27: Last of all the woman died also.
22:28: Now in the resurrection whose wife shall she be of the seven? for all had her.
22:29: Jesus answered and said unto them: ye are deceived, and know_{understand} not what the scripture meaneth, nor yet the virtue_{power} of God.
22:30: For in the resurrection they neither marry nor are married: but are as the angels of the God in heaven.
22:31: As touching the resurrection of the dead: have ye not read what is said unto you of God, which sayeth:
22:32: I am Abraham's God, and Isaac's God, and the God of Jacob? God is not the God of the dead: but of the living.
22:33: And when the people heard that, they were astonied at his doctrine.
22:34: When the pharisees had heard, how that he had put the sadducees to silence, they drew together,_{togedder}
22:35: and one of them which was a doctor of law_{|a Scribe|} asked him a question tempting him and saying:
22:36: Master which is the great_{chief} commandment in the law?
22:37: Jesus said unto him: Thou shalt love thy Lord God_{{Love the LORD thy God}} with all thine heart, with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
22:38: This is the first and that great_{chief} commandment._{|the principal and greatest commandment|}
22:39: And there is another like unto this. Thou shalt love thine neighbor as thyself.
22:40: In these two commandments, hang all the law and the prophets.
22:41: While the pharisees were gathered together Jesus asked them
22:42: saying: What think ye of Christ? whose son is he? they said unto him: The son of David.
22:43: He said unto them: How then doth David in spirit call him Lord,_(LORd) saying?
22:44: The Lord_(LORD) said to my Lord,_(LORd) sit on my right hand: till I make thine enemies thy footstool.
22:45: If David _{(in the spirit)} call him Lord:_(LORd) How is he then his son?
22:46: And none of them could answer him again one word. Neither durst any from that day forth, ask him any more questions.
The .xxiij. Chapter.
23:1: Then spake Jesus to the people, and to his disciples,
23:2: saying: The scribes and the pharisees sit in Moses' seat,
23:3: _{{All therefore}} whatsoever they bid you observe, that observe and do: but after their works do not: for they say, and do not.
23:4: Yea and they bind heavy burdens and grievous to be borne,_{|intollerable burthens|} and lay them on men's shoulders: but they themselves will not heave _{at} them with one _{{of their}} finger._{fingers}
23:5: All their works they do, for to be seen of men. They set abroad their phylacteries, and make large borders on their garments,
23:6: and love to sit uppermost at feasts, and to have the chief seats in the synagogues,
23:7: and greetings_{|love to be saluted|} in the markets and to be called of men Rabbi.
23:8: But ye shall not suffer yourselves to be called Rabbi, for one is your master, that is to wit Christ, and all ye are brethren.
23:9: And call ye no man your father upon the earth, for one is_{{for there is but one}} your father, and he is in heaven.
23:10: Be not called masters, for one is_{{for there is but one}} your master, and he is Christ.
23:11: He that is greatest among you, shall be your servant.
23:12: But whosoever exalteth himself, shall be brought low. And he that submiteth_{humbleth} himself, shall be exalted.
23:13: Woe be unto you scribes and pharisees dissemblers,_{hypocrites} for ye shut up the kingdom of heaven before men: ye yourselves go not in, neither suffer ye them that come to enter in.
23:14: Woe be unto you scribes and pharisees, for ye devour widows' houses, and that under a colour of praying long prayers, wherefore ye shall receive greater damnation.
23:15: Woe be unto you scribes and pharisees hypocrites, for ye_{which} compass sea and land, to bring one into your belief:_{|make one Proselyte|} and when ye have brought him_{{he is brought}} ye make him two fold more the child of hell, than ye yourselves are.
23:16: Woe be unto you blind guides, for ye_{which} say: whosoever swear by the temple, it is nothing: but whosoever swear by the gold of the temple, he is debtor._{{he offendeth,}}_{|is guilty|}
23:17: Ye fools and blind? whether is greater, the gold, or the temple that sanctifieth the gold.
23:18: And whosoever sweareth by the altar it is nothing: but whosoever sweareth by the offering that lieth on the altar is debtor._{offendeth,}_|guilty|
23:19: Ye fools and blind: whether is greater the offering, or the altar which sanctifieth the offering?
23:20: whosoever therefore sweareth by the altar, sweareth by it, and by all that thereon is.
23:21: And whosoever sweareth by the temple sweareth by it, and by him that dwelleth therein.
23:22: And he that sweareth by heaven, sweareth by the seat of God, and by him that sitteth thereon.
23:23: Woe be to you scribes and pharisees dissemblers,_{hypocrites} for ye_{which} tithe mint, anise, and cummin, and leave the weightier matters of the law undone:_{|behind: namely|} judgement, mercy, and faith: these ought ye to have done, and not to have left the other undone._|behind|
23:24: Ye blind guides, which strain out a gnat, and swallow a camel.
23:25: Woe be to you scribes and pharisees hypocrites, for ye_{which} make clean the outer side of the cup, and of the platter: but within they are full of bribery_|robbery| and excess.
23:26: Thou blind pharisee, cleanse first, that which is within_{{the inside of}} the cup and the platter, that the outside _{{of them}} may also be clean.
23:27: Woe be to you scribes, and pharisees hypocrites, for ye are like unto painted tombs_|Sepulcres| which appear beautiful outwards: but are within full of dead men's bones and of all filthiness.
23:28: So are ye, for outward ye appear righteous unto men, when within ye are full of dissimulation_{hypocrisy} and iniquity.
23:29: Woe be unto you scribes and pharisees hypocrites, for ye build the tombs of the prophets, and garnish the sepulchers of just men,_{righteous}
23:30: and say: If we had been in our fathers' time,_{{the days of our fathers}} we would not have been partners with them in the blood of the prophets.
23:31: So are ye _{{So then ye be}} witnesses unto yourselves, that ye are the children of them, which killed the prophets.
23:32: Fulfil ye likewise the measure of your fathers:
23:33: ye_{yee} serpents and generation of vipers, how shall_{should} ye scape the damnation of hell?
23:34: Wherefore behold I send unto you, prophets wise men and scribes, and of them some shall ye kill and crucify, and some_{{of them}} shall ye scourge in your synagogues, and persecute from city to city,
23:35: that all righteous blood may fall upon you, which_{{upon you may come all the righteous blood that}} was shed upon the earth, from the blood of righteous Abel, unto the blood of Zacharias the son of Barachias, whom ye slew between the temple and the altar:
23:36: Verily I say unto you, all these things shall light upon this generation.
23:37: Hierusalem, Hierusalem which killest prophets, and stonest them which are sent to thee: how often would I have gathered thy children together,_{togedder} as the hen gathereth her chickens under her wings? but ye would not?
23:38: Behold your habitation shall be left unto you desolate.
23:39: For I say unto you, ye shall not see me henceforth, till that ye say: blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord.

24:1: And Jesus went out and departed from the temple: and his disciples came to him, for to shew him the building of the temple.
24:2: Jesus said unto them: see ye not all these things? Verily I say unto you: There shall not be here left one stone upon another, that shall not be destroyed._{{cast down.}}
24:3: And as he sat upon the mount Olivet, his disciples came unto him secretly saying: Tell us, when this_{{these things}} shall be? and what sign shall be of thy coming, and of the end of the world?_{(Gr. soonteliah aion: consummation of the age.)}
24:4: And Jesus answered, and said unto them: take heed that no man deceive you;
24:5: For many shall come in my name saying: I am Christ: and shall deceive many.
24:6: Ye shall hear of wars, and of the noise_{fame} of wars, but see that ye be not troubled, for all (these things) must come to pass, but the end is not yet.
24:7: For nation shall rise against nation,_{|one people shall rise up against another|} and realm against realm: and there shall be pestilence, and hunger, and earthquakes in all quarters.
24:8: All these are the beginning of sorrows.
24:9: Then shall they put you to trouble, and shall kill you, and ye shall be hated of all nations_|people| for my name's sake:
24:10: And then shall many fall,_{{be offended}} and shall betray one another, and shall hate one the other.
24:11: And many false prophets shall arise, and shall deceive many.
24:12: And because iniquity shall have the upper hand, the love of many shall abate.
24:13: But he that endureth to the end_{{the same}} shall be safe.
24:14: And this gospel_{{glad tidings}} of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world,_{(Gr. oikoumene: inhabited circle)} for a witness unto all nations,_|people| and then shall the end come.
24:15: When ye then_{therefore} shall see the abomination and_{{that betokeneth}} desolation (spoken of by Daniel the prophet) stand in the holy place: whosoever_{{let him that}} readeth it, let him understand it._{|mark it well|}
24:16: Then let them which be in Jury_|Iewry| fly into the mountains.
24:17: And let him which is on the housetop, not come down to take_{fetch} anything out of his house.
24:18: Neither let him which is in the field, return back to fetch his clothes.
24:19: Woe_{shall} be in those days to them that are with child, and to them that give suck.
24:20: But pray that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the Sabbath day.
24:21: For then shall be great tribulation,_|trouble| such as was not from the beginning of the world to this time, nor_{ner} shall be.
24:22: Yea and except those days should be shortened, _{there} should no flesh be saved: But for the chosens' sake those days shall be shortened.
24:23: Then if any man shall say unto you: lo, here is Christ, or there is Christ: believe it not:
24:24: for there shall arise false christs, and false prophets and shall give_{do} great signs_{miracles} and wonders. So greatly_{Insomuch} that if it were possible, even the chosen_{{the very elect}} should be brought into error._{deceived.}
24:25: Take heed I have told you before.
24:26: _{Wherefore} If they shall say unto you: lo,_{behold} he is in the desert,_|wilderness| go not forth: lo, he is in the secret places,_|chamber| believe not.
24:27: For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth unto the west: so shall the coming of the son of man be.
24:28: For wheresoever a dead body_{carcass} is, even thither will the eagles resort._{|Aegles be gathered together|}
24:29: Immediately after the tribulations_|trouble| of those days, shall the sun be darkeneth:_{darkened:} and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of heaven shall move.
24:30: And then shall appear the sign of the son of man in heaven. And then shall all the kindreds of the earth mourn, and they shall see the son of man come in the clouds of heaven with power and great majesty:_{glory.}
24:31: And he shall send his angels with the great voice of a trumpet,_|trompe| and they shall gather together_{togedther} his chosen from the four winds, and from the one end of the world to the other. _{(And when these things begin to come to pass: Look up, and lift up your heads for your redemption draweth nigh.})
24:32: Learn a similitude of the fig tree: when his branches are_{|branch is|} yet tender, and his leaves sprung, ye know that summer is nigh.
24:33: So likewise _{ye,} when ye see all these things, be ye sure that it is near even at the doors.
24:34: Verily I say unto you, that this generation shall not pass, till all _{these} be fulfilled.
24:35: Heaven and earth shall perish: but my words shall abide._{|not perish|}
24:36: But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no not the angels of heaven,_{(nor the son)} but my father only.
24:37: As the time of Noe was, so likewise shall the coming of the son of man be.
24:38: For as in the days before the flood: they did eat and drink, marry, and were married, even unto the day that Noe entered in to the ship,
24:39: and knew of nothing_{|regarded it not|} till the flood came and took them all away. So shall also the coming of the son of man be.
24:40: Then two shall be in the fields, the one shall be received, and the other shall be refused,
24:41: two (women) shall be grinding at the mill: the one shall be received, and the other shall be refused. (Two in a bed; the one shall be received, and the other refused)
24:42: Wake_|Watch| therefore, because ye know not what hour your master_|LORDE| will come.
24:43: Of this be sure, that if the good man of the house knew what hour the thief would come: he would surely watch, and not suffer his house to be broken up.
24:44: Therefore be ye also ready, for what_{{in the}} hour ye think least on, in the same shall_{{ye think he would not: will}} the son of man come.
24:45: Who is a_{{If there be any}} faithful servant and wise, whom his master hath made ruler over his household, for to give them meat in season convenient?
24:46: Happy_|Blessed| is that servant whom his master (when he cometh) shall find so doing.
24:47: Verily I say unto you, he shall make him ruler over all his goods.
24:48: But and if that evil servant shall say in his heart, my master will defer his coming,
24:49: and begin to smite his fellows: yea and to eat and to drink with the drunken:
24:50: that servant's master will come in a day when he looketh not for him: and in an hour that he is not ware of,
24:51: and will divide him, and give him his reward with hypocrites. There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
The .xxv. Chapter.
25:1: Then the kingdom of heaven shall be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went to meet the bridegroom: (and the bride)
25:2: five of them were foolish, and five were wise.
25:3: The foolish took their lamps, but took none oil with them.
25:4: But the wise took oil with them in their vessels with their lamps also.
25:5: While the bridegroom tarried, all slumbered and slept.
25:6: And even at midnight, there was a cry made: behold, the bridegroom cometh, go and meet_{{go out against}} him.
25:7: Then all those virgins arose, and prepared their lamps.
25:8: And the foolish said to the wise: give us of your oil, for our lamps go out?
25:9: But the wise answered, saying: not so, lest there be not enough for us and you, but go rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves.
25:10: In conclusion_{And} while they went to buy, the bridegroom came: and they that were ready, went in with him to the wedding, and the gate was shut up.
25:11: Afterwards came also the other virgins, saying: master, master open to us.
25:12: But he answered, and said: verily I say unto you: I know you not:
25:13: look that ye watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor yet the hour, when the son of man shall come.
25:14: Likewise as a certain man ready to take his journey to a strange country, called his servants to him, and delivered to them his goods.
25:15: And unto one he gave five talents, to another two and to another one: to every man after his ability, and straight way departed.
25:16: Then he that had received the five talents, went and bestowed them,_{|occupied with the same,|} and won other five. _{talents}
25:17: Likewise he that received two gained other two.
25:18: But he that received _{the} one, went and digged a pit in the earth and hid his master's money.
25:19: After a long season the lord of those servants came, and reckoned with them.
25:20: Then came he that had received five talents, and brought other five _{talents} saying: master, thou deliveredst unto me five talents, lo_{behold} I have gained with them five _{talents} more.
25:21: _{Then} His master said unto him: well good servant and faithful; Thou hast been faithful in little, I will make thee ruler over much: enter in into thy master's joy.
25:22: Also he that received two talents came, and said: master, thou deliveredest unto me two talents: lo_{behold} I have won two other talents with them.
25:23: _{And} His master said unto him, well good servant and faithful thou hast been faithful in little, I will make thee ruler over much, go in into thy master's joy.
25:24: _{Then} He which had received the one talent came also, and said: master, I considered that thou wast an hard man, which reapest where thou sowedst not, and gatherest where thou strawedst not,
25:25: and was _{therefore} afraid, and went and hid thy talent in the earth: lo,_{Behold} thou hast thine own.
25:26: His master answered, and said unto him: _{thou} evil servant and slothful, thou knewest that I reap where I sowed not, and gather where I strawed not:
25:27: thou oughtest_|shouldest| therefore to have had my money to the changers, and then at my coming should I have received my money_{{mine own}} with vantage.
25:28: Take therefore the talent from him, and give it unto him which hath ten talents.
25:29: For unto every man that hath shall be given, and he shall have abundance. And from him that hath not, shall be taken away, even that he hath.
25:30: And cast that unprofitable servant into utter darkness, there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
25:31: When the son of man shall come_{cometh} in his majesty,_{glory} and all his_{the} holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the seat of his majesty,_{glory}
25:32: and before him shall be gathered all nations._|people| And he shall sever_{separate} them one from another, as a shepherd putteth asunder_{divideth} the sheep from the goats.
25:33: And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, and the goats on the left hand.
25:34: Then shall the King say to them on his right hand: Come ye blessed children of my father, inherit ye the kingdom prepared for you from the beginning of the world.
25:35: For I was an hungered, and ye gave me meat. I thirsted, and ye gave me drink. I was harborless, and ye lodged me. I was naked and ye clothed me:
25:36: I was sick and ye visited me. I was in prison and ye came unto me.
25:37: Then shall the just_{righteous} answer him saying: master, when, saw we thee an hungered, and fed thee? or a thirst, and gave thee drink?
25:38: when saw we thee harborless, and lodged thee? or naked and clothed thee?
25:39: or when saw we thee sick, or in prison and came unto thee?
25:40: And the King shall answer and say unto them: verily I say unto you: inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren: ye have done it to me.
25:41: Then shall the King say unto them that shall be on the left hand: depart from me ye cursed, into everlasting fire, which is prepared for the devil and his angels.
25:42: For I was an hungered, and ye gave me no meat. I thirsted, and ye gave me no drink. I was harborless, and ye lodged me not.
25:43: I was naked, and ye clothed me not. I was sick and in prison, and ye visited me not.
25:44: Then shall they also answer him saying: master, when saw we thee an hungered, or a thirst, or harborless, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and have not ministered unto thee?
25:45: then shall he answer them, and say: Verily I say unto you, inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me.
25:46: And these shall go into everlasting pain: And the righteous into life eternal.
The .xxvj. Chapter.
26:1: And it followed:_{{came to pass}} when Jesus had finished all these sayings, he said unto his disciples:
26:2: Ye know that after two days shall be ester, and the son of man shall be delivered to be crucified.
26:3: Then assembled together the chief priests and _{the} scribes and seniors_{{the elders}} of the people into the palace of the high priest, called Caiphas:
26:4: and held a counsel, how they might take Jesus by subtlety,_|disceate| and kill him;
26:5: but they said, not on the holy day, lest any trouble_{uproar} arise among the people.
26:6: When Jesus was in Bethany, in the house of Simon the leper,
26:7: there came unto him a woman, which had an alabaster box of precious ointment, and poured it on his head, as he sat at the board._|table|
26:8: When his disciples saw that, they had indignation saying: What needed this waste?_{|they disdained, and said: Where to serveth this waste?|}
26:9: This ointment might have been well sold, and given to the poor.
26:10: When Jesus understood_|perceived| that, he said unto them: Why trouble ye the woman? she hath wrought a good work upon me.
26:11: For ye shall have poor folk always with you: but me shall ye not have always.
26:12: And in that she casted_|poured| this ointment on my body, she did it to bury me withal._{{with all.}}
26:13: Verily I say unto you, wheresoever this gospel_{gospell} shall be preached throughout all the world, there shall also this that she hath done, be told for a memorial of her.
26:14: Then one of the twelve called Judas Iscariot went unto the chief priests,
26:15: and said: What will ye give me, and I will deliver him unto you? And they appointed unto him thirty pieces of silver.
26:16: And from that time he sought opportunity to betray him.
26:17: The first day of unleavened_{sweet} bread the disciples came to Jesus saying unto him: Where wilt thou that we prepare for thee to eat the ester_{paschal} lamb?
26:18: And he said: Go into the city, unto such a man, and say to him: the master saith, my time is almost come,_{{at hand}} I will keep mine ester at thy house with my disciples.
26:19: And the disciples did as Jesus had appointed them, and made ready the ester lamb.
26:20: When the even was come, he sat down with the twelve.
26:21: And as they did eat, he said: Verily I say unto you, that one of you shall betray me.
26:22: And they were exceeding sorrowful, and began every one of them to say unto him: Is it I master?
26:23: He answered and said: He that dippeth his hand with me in the dish, _{{the same}} shall betray me.
26:24: The son of man goeth as it is written of him: but woe be to that man, by whom the son of man shall be betrayed. It had been good for that man, if he had never been born.
26:25: Then Judas which betrayed him, answered and said: Is it I master? He said unto him: Thou hast said.
26:26: As they did ate,_{eat} Jesus took bread and gave thanks,_{{blessed it}} brake it, and gave it to the disciples, and said: Take, eat, this is my body.
26:27: And he took the cup, and gave thanks,_{thanked} and gave it them, saying: Drink of it every one.
26:28: This is my blood of the new testament, which_{that} shall be shed for many, for the forgiveness_|remission| of sins.
26:29: I say unto you: I will not drink henceforth of this fruit of the vine tree, until that day, when I shall drink it new with you in my father's kingdom.
26:30: And when they had said grace, they went out into mount olivet.
26:31: Then said Jesus unto them: All ye shall fall this night because of me._{{all ye shall be offended by me this night}} For it is written: I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock shall be scattered abroad.
26:32: But after I am risen again, I will go before you into Galilee.
26:33: Peter answered, and said unto him: Though all men should be hurt_{offended} by thee, yet would I not be hurt._{{never be offended.}}
26:34: Jesus said unto him: Verily I say unto thee, that this same night before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me thrice.
26:35: Peter said unto him: If I should die with thee, yet will_{would} I not deny thee. Likewise also said all the disciples.
26:36: Then went Jesus with them into a place, which is called Gethsemane, and said unto his_{the} disciples: Sit ye here while I go and pray yonder.
26:37: And he took with him Peter and the two sons of Zebede, and began to wax sorrowful and to be in agony.
26:38: Then said Jesus unto them: My soul is heavy even unto the death. Tarry ye here: and watch with me.
26:39: And he went away a little apart, and fell flat on his face, and prayed saying: O my father, if it possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless, not as I will, but as thou wilt._{And an angel from heaven appeared strengthening Him. And becoming in anguish, he prayed more earnestly and his sweat was as drops of blood falling down onto the ground.}
26:40: And he came unto the disciples, and found them asleep, and said to Peter: What, could ye not watch with me one hour?
26:41: Watch and pray, that ye fall not into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.
26:42: He went away once more, and prayed, saying: O my father, if this cup cannot pass away from me, but that I drink of it, thy will be fulfilled.
26:43: And he came, and found them asleep again. For their eyes were heavy.
26:44: And he left and went again, and prayed the third time saying the same words.
26:45: Then came he to his disciples and said unto them: Sleep henceforth, and take your rest. Take heed the hour is at hand, and the son of man shall be betrayed_|delivered| into the hands of sinners.
26:46: Rise, let us be going, _{behold,} he is at hand that shall betray me.
26:47: While he yet spake, lo, Judas one of the twelve came, and with him a great multitude with swords and staves, which were sent from the chief priests and seniors_{elders} of the people.
26:48: _{And} He that betrayed him, gave them a token, saying: Whosoever I kiss, that_{the} same is he, lay hands on him.
26:49: And forthwith-all he came to Jesus, and said: Hail master. And kissed him.
26:50: And Jesus said unto him: friend, wherefore art thou come? Then came they and laid hands on Jesus and took him.
26:51: And behold, one of them which were with Jesus, stretched out his hand and drew his sword, and struck a servant of the high priest, and smote off his ear.
26:52: Then said Jesus unto him: Put up thy sword into his sheath. For all they that lay hands on the sword, shall perish with the sword.
26:53: Either thinkest thou that I cannot now pray to my father, and he shall give me (even now) more than twelve legions of angels?
26:54: _{But} How then should the scriptures be fulfilled, for so must it be.
26:55: The same time said Jesus to the multitude: Ye be come out as it were unto a thief, with swords and staves for to take me: daily I sat among you teaching in the temple, and ye took me not.
26:56: All this was done that the scriptures of the prophets might be fulfilled. Then all the disciples forsook him and fled.
26:57: And they took Jesus and led him to Caiphas the high priest, where the scribes and the seniors_{elders} were assembled._{|gathered together|}
26:58: _{And} Peter followed him afar off, unto the high priest's place: and went in, and sat with the servants to see the end.
26:59: The chief priests, and the seniors,_{elders} and all the council, sought false witness against Jesus, for to put him to death,
26:60: and they_{but} found none: insomuch that when many false witnesses came, yet found they none. At the last came two false witnesses,
26:61: and said: This fellow said: I can destroy_{|break down|} the temple of God, and build the same_{{it again}} in three days.
26:62: And the chief priest arose, and said to him: Answerest thou nothing? How is it that these bear witness_|testify| against thee?
26:63: But Jesus held his peace. And the chief priest answered, and said to him: I charge thee in the name of the living God, that thou tell us whether thou be Christ the son of God.
26:64: Jesus said to him: Thou hast said. Nevertheless I say unto you, hereafter shall ye see the son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and come in the clouds of the sky._|heaven|
26:65: Then the high priest rent his clothes saying? He hath blasphemed: what need we of any more witnesses? Lo,_{Behold} now have ye heard his blasphemy:
26:66: What think ye? They answered and said: He is worthy to die._{|guilty of death|}
26:67: Then spat they in his face, and beat_{buffeted} him with their fists. And other smote him with the palm of their hands on the face,
26:68: saying: Areed to us_|Prophecie|_{{Tell us thou}} Christ, who is he that smote thee?
26:69: Peter sat without in the palace, and a damsel came to him, saying: Thou also wast with Jesus of Galilee:
26:70: _{but} he denied before them all saying: I wot not what thou sayest.
26:71: When he was gone out into the porch, another wench saw him, and said unto them that were there: This fellow was also with Jesus of Nazareth:
26:72: And again he denied with an oath,_{{that he knew the man.}} and said: I know not the man.
26:73: And after a while came unto him they that stood by, and said unto Peter: Surely thou art even one of them, for thy speech betrayeth thee.
26:74: Then began he to curse and to swear, that he knew not the man. And immediately the cock crew.
26:75: And Peter remembered the words of Jesu, which he said unto him: before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me thrice: and went out at the doors and wept bitterly.
The .xxvij. Chapter.
27:1: When the morning was come, all the chief priests and seniors_{{the elders}} of the people held a counsel against Jesu, to put him to death,
27:2: and brought him bound and delivered him unto Pontius Pilate the deputy.
27:3: Then when Judas which betrayed him, saw that he was condemned, he repented himself, and brought again the thirty plates of silver to the chief priests and seniors_{elders}
27:4: saying: I have sinned betraying the innocent blood. And they said: What is that to us? see thou to that.
27:5: And he cast down the silver plates in the temple, and departed, and went and hung himself.
27:6: _{And} The chief priests took the silver plates and said: It is not lawful for to put them into the treasury, because it is the price of blood.
27:7: And they took counsel, and bought with them a potter's field to bury strangers in.
27:8: Wherefore that field is called, (Haceldema, that is) the field of blood, until this day.
27:9: Then was fulfilled, that which was spoken by Jeremy the prophet, _{(As in the Hebrew custom: the book of Zechariah also relates to what happened at the time of Jeremiah foretold of the Lord. Ironically this chapter 27 verse 9 of Matthew even alludes to the prophet Daniel (the 27th book of the Bible) in chapter 9 that mentions Jeremiah.)} saying: And they took thirty silver plates, the value_{price} of him that was priced,_{valued} whom they bought of the children of Israel,
27:10: and they gave them for the potter's field, as the Lord appointed me.
27:11: Jesus stood before the deputy: and the deputy asked him, saying: Art thou the King of the Jews? Jesus said unto him: Thou sayest.
27:12: _{And} When he was accused of the chief priests and seniors,_{elders} he answered nothing.
27:13: Then said Pilate unto him: Hearest thou not how many things they lay against thee?
27:14: and he answered him to never a word: insomuch that the deputy marveled very sore._{greatly.}
27:15: At that feast, the deputy was wont to deliver unto the people a prisoner whom they would choose._{desire.}
27:16: He had then a notable prisoner called _{(Jesus the)} Barabbas.
27:17: And when they were gathered together, Pilate said unto them: Whether will ye that I give loose unto you, Barabbas, or Jesus which is called Christ?
27:18: For he knew well, that for envy they had delivered him.
27:19: When he was set down to give judgement, his wife sent to him, saying: Have thou nothing to do with that just man, I have suffered many things this day in my sleep_{{a dream}} about him.
27:20: _{But} The chief priests and the seniors_{elders} had persuaded the people, that they should ask Barabbas, and should destroy Jesus.
27:21: _{Then} The deputy answered and said unto them: Whether of the twain will ye that I let loose unto you? And they said, Barabbas.
27:22: Pilate said unto them: What shall I do then with Jesus, which is called Christ? They all said to him: Let him be crucified.
27:23: Then said the deputy: What evil hath he done? And they cried the more saying: Let him be crucified.
27:24: When Pilate saw that he prevailed nothing, but that more business was made, he took water and washed his hands before the people saying: I am innocent of the blood of this just_|righteous| person, and that ye shall see._{|See ye thereto|}
27:25: Then answered all the people, and said: His blood fall_{be} on us, and on_|upon| our children.
27:26: Then let he Barabbas loose unto them, and scourged Jesus, and delivered him to be crucified.
27:27: Then the soldiers of the deputy took Jesus unto the common hall, and gathered unto him all the company.
27:28: And they stripped him, and put on him a purple robe,
27:29: and plaited a crown of thorns and put upon his head, and a reed in his right hand. And bowed their knees before him, _{{and mocked him,}} saying: Hail King of the Jews,
27:30: and spitted upon him, and took the reed and smote him on the head.
27:31: And when they had mocked him, they took the robe off him again, and put his own raiment_|clothes| on him, and led him away to crucify him.
27:32: And as they came_{|were going|} out, they found a man of Cyren, named Simon: him they compelled to bear his cross.
27:33: And _{{when they}} came unto the place, which is called Golgotha (that is to say_{|by interpretation|} a place of dead men's skulls)
27:34: they gave him vinegar to drink mixt_{mingled} with gall. And when he had tasted thereof, he would not drink.
27:35: When they had crucified him, they parted his garments, and did cast lots. To fulfil that was spoken by the prophet: They divided my garments among them: and upon my vesture have_{did} cast lots.
27:36: And they sat and watched him there.
27:37: And they set up over his head the cause of his death written: This is Jesus the King of the Jews.
27:38: And there were two thieves_|murthurers| crucified with him, one on the right hand, and another on the left hand.
27:39: They that passed_|went| by, reviled him wagging their heads
27:40: and saying: Thou that destroyest_{|breakest down|} the temple of God, and buildest it in three days save thyself. If thou be the son of God, come down from the cross.
27:41: Likewise also the prelates_{{hye priests}} mocking him_{|laughed him to scorn|} with the scribes and seniors_{elders} said:
27:42: He saved_{|hath helped|} other, himself he cannot save._|help| If he be the King of Israel: let him now come down from the cross, and we will believe him.
27:43: He trusted in God, let God_{him} deliver him now if he will have him, for he said, I am the son of God.
27:44: That same also the thieves,_|murthurers| which were crucified with him cast in his teeth.
27:45: From the sixth hour was there darkness over all the land unto the ninth hour.
27:46: And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying: Eli Eli lama sabathani._{{asbathani; or sabachthani}} That is to say, my God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?
27:47: Some of them that stood there, when they heard that said: This man calleth for Helias.
27:48: And straightway_{|immediately|} one of them ran and took a sponge and filled it full of vinegar, and put it on a reed, and gave him to drink.
27:49: Other said let be, let us see whether Helias will come and deliver him.
27:50: Jesus cried again with a loud voice and yielded up the ghost.
27:51: And behold the veil of the temple was_{did} rent in twain from the top to the bottom,_{|rent in two pieces, from above till beneath|} and the earth did quake,
27:52: and the stones did rent, and graves did open, and the bodies of many saints which slept, arose:
27:53: and came out of the graves after his resurrection, and came into the holy city, and appeared unto many.
27:54: When the petty captain,_{centurion} and they that were with him watching Jesus, saw the earthquake and those things which happened, they feared greatly saying; Of a surety this was the son of God.
27:55: And many women were there, beholding him afar off, which followed Jesus from Galilee, ministering unto him:
27:56: among the which was Mary Magdalen, and Mary the mother of James and the mother of Joses, and the mother of Zebedee's children.
27:57: When the even was come, there came a rich man of Arimathia named Joseph, which same also was Jesus' disciple.
27:58: He went to Pilate and begged_|asked| the body of Jesus. Then Pilate commanded the body to be delivered._{|that the body should be given him|}
27:59: And Joseph took the body, and wrapped it in a clean linen cloth,

27:61: And there was Mary Magdalene and the other Mary sitting over against the sepulchre.
27:62: The next day that followeth good friday,_{{the day of preparing}} the high priests and pharisees got themselves to Pilate,
27:63: and said: Sir, we remember, that this deceiver said while he was yet alive. After three days I will arise again,
27:64: command therefore that the sepulchre be made sure until the third day, lest peradventure his disciples come, and steal him away, and say unto the people, he is risen from death: And then the last error shall be worse than the first was.
27:65: Pilate said unto them: Take watchmen: Go and make it as sure as ye can.

28:1: The Sabbath day at even which dawneth the morrow after the Sabbath,_{|Upon the evening of the Sabbath holy day, which dawneth the morow of the first day of the Sabbaths,|} Mary Magdalene and the other Mary came to see the sepulchre.
28:2: And behold there was a great earthquake. For the angel of the Lord descended from heaven: and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it.
28:3: His countenance was like lightning, and his raiment white as snow.
28:4: _{And} For fear of him the keepers_|watchmen| were astunned, and became as dead men.
28:5: The angel answered, and said to the women: Fear ye not._{|Be not ye afraid|} I know well_{that} ye seek Jesus which was crucified:
28:6: he is not here: he is risen as he said. Come, and see the place where the Lord was put._|laid|
28:7: And go quickly and tell his disciples that he is risen from death. And behold, he will go before you into Galilee, there ye shall see him. Lo I have told you.
28:8: And they departed quickly from the sepulchre with fear and great Joy. And did run to bring his disciples word.
28:9: And as they went to tell his disciples: behold, Jesus met them saying: God speed you._{{All hail.}} They came and held him by the feet and worshipped him._{|fell down before him|}
28:10: Then said Jesus unto them: Be not afraid. Go and tell my brethren, that they go into Galilee, and there shall they see me.
28:11: When they were gone: behold, some of the keepers_|watchmen| came in to the city, and shewed unto the prelates,_{{hie priests}} all the things which had_{{that were}} happened.
28:12: And they gathered them together with the seniors,_{elders} and took counsel, and gave large money unto the soldiers,
28:13: saying: Say that his disciples came by night, and stole him away while ye slept.
28:14: And if this come to the ruler's ears, we will pease him, and make you safe._{{save you harmless.}}
28:15: And they took the money and did as they were taught. And this saying is noised among the jews unto this day.
28:16: Then the eleven disciples went away into Galilee, into a mountain where Jesus had appointed them.
28:17: And when they saw him, they worshipped him._{|fell down before him|} But some of them doubted.
28:18: _{And} Jesus came and spake unto them, saying: All power is given unto me in heaven, and in earth. (As my father sent me, so send I you.)
28:19: Go therefore and teach all nations, baptising them in the name of the father, and the son, and the holy ghost: _{(Go, make disciples of all the nations in my name:)}
28:20: Teaching them to observe_|keep| all things, whatsoever I commanded you. And lo, I am with you alway even until the end of the world._{(Gr. soontelia aeon: consumation of ages)}
